- In March, 2022, I took an Amtrak train ride from Martinez, CA to Truckee, CA. I spent a couple of days in Truckee, and enjoyed wandering through its historic downtown one morning. In this video, I touch on some of the highlights, and I share my experience of riding Amtrak in a roomette.
Love the old West towns and the train roomette. Thanks for sharing and happy Wandering
Yes, I also love the old West towns...and that roomette is a great way to travel! Thanks, RV Dawg!
I'm watching the video again! I LOVE SNOW!! 😃
Ha! A second viewing is much appreciated! I know how you love snow.....so glad we did this trip!
I LOVE riding Amtrak. I LOVE Truckee. I LOVE snow. I LOVE your videos. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! I've been to Truckee many times but have never seen that jail or the log cabin. Amazing stuff. Truckee has so much history! Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching and commenting! We definitely share an appreciation for Amtrak and Truckee! We have "wandered" together in this area a few times. I was drawn to some of the historic sites in downtown Truckee through geocaching, reading, and just stumbling upon them! I'm so glad we share many happy memories together in Truckee!
wow really beautiful @5:39
Wow! I always feel like I'm there with you when you do these clips. That roomette looked so clean and comfortable. I'm surprised how quiet it was! And what a neat little town Truckee is. I will bet they have a fairly good night life. Especially during holidays and festivals. Thanks for another great video!
Truckee has many different seasonal events, outdoor activities, and has its share of night life, concerts, etc. A new performing arts center is being built, too. I hear that Truckee Thursdays are fun (maybe like Thursday nights in SLO?). Thanks for watching and commenting...and I'm glad you feel like I'm right there with you! 😄❤
What a fun trip! Thanks for sharing the inside of your room. Always wondered what they looked like and now I don't have to wonder. You are an inspiration as always Nanci!
Thanks for watching and commenting, Cindy! I love the roomettes on Amtrak! So private, relaxing and such a great view out the window! I appreciate your support!
So cool! I did an Amtrak trip from Seattle to Vancouver, BC a few years ago. I'm sad that they didn't offer roommettes because it looks quite cozy! It was still a fun trip and a cool memory I treasure. Thanks for taking us along on this one!
Thanks for watching and commenting! I do love train travel, and recently also rode in coach on a short trip to Sacramento. I enjoy both ways of traveling, but that little roomette is super comfy and relaxing. Good to see you....take care!
Very nice. Thank you for sharing your adventure to Truckee. I'll have to ask mom & dad if we've been there before. It does look vaguely familiar. As a kid we traveled several times back and forth between Oregon (my mom's home state) and Florida (my dad's home state). I was pretty young when we made the southern route trips though). Take care Nanci. 🙂
HI Ann! Thanks for watching and commenting! Sounds like you have done some amazing cross country road trips!
Trains are such a great way to travel. Nice you didn’t have to cash in bonds to take the trip.
Love the train! And I am happy to use a credit card that builds up points for my train rides. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Bar of America / drinking with buddy’s there in the seventies
Sounds like good times! Thanks for watching!
