Dang... why's everybody hating? Her routines are stacked with difficulty and she's had the pressure put on her to step up. She may not have been as clean that day as before but that doesn't mean she's a bad gymnast in any sense. Amazing.
@sstthh1 Pause at 0:55. One of her arms is bent resulting in a .1 deduction. From her abdomen down, she also has a slight pre-flight rotation resulting in another .1. That's extremely harsh but hey, that's the CoP.
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 Yes, I wish we could see them all in the finals. I really like Finnegan and I'm looking forward to seeing her upgrades, she's a great gymnast but maybe she'll have to wait some more years for her time to shine. I like both Ross and Maroney but I believe the battle for a spot in the finals will be between Raisman, Wieber and Douglas, and the smallest mistake can be costly
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 To add to beam, .1 deduction for lack of artistry to give her an E of 8.300 and total of 14.300. FX: Silivas: flexed feet and hop .2, triple full: legs apart on landing, huge step, uncontrolled .5, triple turn: slightly uncontrolled .1, split jump: legs not parallel to floor, missing 180 .2, split leap 1/1: missing 180, over-rotated .2, double pike: low, hop .2. D score: 5.9 (that split jump is not connected to the 2.5 and the Gogean not right round), E score: 8.6 CONT
@LDVTennis Yes, lack of height. It's surprising to see how strict the CoP is on height deductions. Pre-flight rotation as in she twists on her block on the table. Just to let you know, the vault is called a vault table, not a vault horse. And yes, there is something wrong with that. It's improper technique and it is big enough to incur a deduction.
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 BB: ff + loso (flexed feet, balance check .5), walkover: .1 balance check, back full flexed feet and wobble .4, ff flexed feet .1, somi lack of foot form .1, Johnson 1/2 incorrect leg position .1, ff + ff before dismount (both with flexed feet .2), 2.5 small hop .1. D score: 6.0, E score: 8.400, total: 14.400. Love her upgrades here. I hope she adds the Johnson 1/2!
Congratulations to Jordyn Wieber for having the second highest international in the 2009-2012 CoP ever at a 61.050 for her amazing performance at the Kellog's PacRim! Second to only Viktoria Komova of Russia with a 61.250 from the 2010 YOG and one placement ahead of Russia's Aliya Mustafina with a 61.032 at the 2010 World Championships!
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 Correction on my bars guide: Her D score should in fact be 6.3 but a 7.9 for the E score because of an additional .3 for lack of rhythm on the hip 1/1.
@xrictinagymnastics Yes because Douglas is practically an AA lock (I'd say above Wieber at the moment) and Raisman is pretty close behind Wieber... It's anyone's game what with the two of them and Ross added to the mix. Finnegan apparently has an Amanar now and Maroney's upgraded recently too. So many great AAers for the US.
If anyone wants what I consider a more legitimate analysis than the judges gave... I would be happy to do such for the other competitors as well once their videos are all uploaded. Wieber VT: Leg separation on block (.3), pre-flight rotation (.1), bent arms on block (.1), not center on block (.1), not center on landing (.1), lack of height (.1), small hop (.1). D: 6.5, E: 9.1, total: 15.6. It seems harsh, but that is still a PHENOMENAL vault and score! She needs some work on blocking.
She obviously had bobbles on beam and connections were a bit off, but man, if she sticks that beam routine it'll be amazing. I really like how it flows as well (i.e. turns back to back, leaps right after one another, etc.)
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 What I am saying is that height is all relative. There isn't a pole next to the vault by which to measure height. You seem quite certain that Jordyn's vault lacked height. Tim D who was on the sidelines declares that it was quite high. As to preflight rotation, there is none. Jordyn's back is not turned toward the landing mat as she blocks. Look at the side view of the vault again. (As to terminology, you do realize it wasn't always called a vault table.)
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 UB: Weiler 1/2 (slightly late .1), Maloney (lack of uprise .1), clear-hip 1/1 (form break .5), pike into overshoot (.1), flexed feet on stalder shoot (.1), toe 1/1 late (.3), Tkachev: flat, flexed feet, close to bar, bent arms on regrasp, legs still in stalder upon regrasp (.5), beautiful double layout with small hop (.1). D score (loses .2 because hip 1/1 was not connected. Judges ignored this): 6.1, E: 8.2, total: 14.3. This might actually be generous...
@xrictinagymnastics Anna Pavlova didn't need dynamic beam choreography. She just held herself with the perfect posture and could take a simple step on the beam and it would be beautiful. Hoping this year she's a bit more successful, still not expecting much. I'd love to see her win vault and beam medals at Russian Nationals this upcoming week.
@TheBibliorat I mean to say, all nine girls (including Gabby) would've scored lower at a real international stage like Worlds, Olympics, or any other World Cup (the American Cup is pretty generous) however the judges typically award even more points to the Americans at this meet. I really can't wait for the other videos to be uploaded. We didn't get to see Gabby or Raisman's vault and they both did Amanars! And Iordache can win floor in London but we got no coverage again.
@ajhornell I agree Wieber needs to focus on execution and not upgrade, but not on beam. Her beam is rock solid and she's received 9+ as a well-deserved result of that! Very few have done that in this CoP. Because of her high execution scores, I think it's very smart to upgrade however I do not think she's focusing on the best possible upgrades. I think she should add in her Johnson 1/2 ASAP. Her triple dismount won't be ready and her front-walkover combination isn't working.
As much as I agree she was overscored I have to say it was impressive how she stayed on the bars. Not many gymnasts could have stayed on after such a huge form break. Yes she wasn't as good as she could be but after all it was the first meet of the season, I'm sure she'll be very consistent for the rest of the year
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 Hahaha, I know... I stopped taking the American Cup as a serious event back in '05... now I just watch it for the international gymnats that come to compete in it. Like Moors, Iordache & Chelaru... but there wasn't a lot of camera time on them... sooo again... I have to rely on YT to quell my gymnastics hunger.
This is what I have been talking about in this past few weeks on RUclips. If she does not improve and hit her bar routines, not even in dreams she will be able to beat Komova and Mustafina. Of course she is not at her peak yet, but she needs immediatly to improve her bars, and with Douglas peaking she must be very aware if she wants the AA gold medal in London!
I am sorry she didn't make the all around final but I feel sorry for the way the reporters wanted to get her reaction knowing it was too soon. Give HER SOME TIME she will bounce back.
dont get me wrong- i love jordyn. she's an amazingly talented gymnast and she has so much olympic potential and i'm so glad she's representing the USA. But, I would love to see her fall a couple times just so I could hear Tim and Elfie's reactions. Play favorites, much?
@xrictinagymnastics I agree with all of that although I definitely add Ross to the bottom list and possibly even Bross. I haven't seen too much of Finnegan actually.
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 Yes please I'd love an analysis for everyone. Thanks for taking the time to do it. But don't forget that when you say 'overscored' you need to say compared to what. If everyone at the meet was equally 'overscored' because the judges were lenient with everyone in the same way, then Jordyn was not 'overscored' per se .
Splits should always be 180 degrees in the air, basically perfectly horizontal. Jordyn's are actually pretty good most of the time. Shawn Johnson's splits on beam were always a little off.
@peaceluvcheer97 I heard Finnegan actually has an Amanar as well. For 2012, I think Ross, Maroney, Raisman, Wieber, and Douglas will all be on the team and the funny thing is, they all have Amanars.
@slavaro1992 So maybe she was overscored, but she still scored 1.6 higher than her AA in Tokyo (which arguably, was overscored too) and a full point higher than her qualifying score there. It's not amazing, but it's a very solid start.
Actually, if I recall, when she won Worlds I complimented her on her ability to regain composure on bars and her rock solid steadiness on beam. I complimented her PERFECT double pike with zero deductions. I'm sure there was more. I did not say her Amanar is terrible. I said her block is horrible and her landing was uncontrolled which they were. Also, she needed/needs more height. By pointing out her cheated leaps and flexed feet, I am not saying she has bad form because she certainly does not.
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 I fell in love with her beam in 2009 worlds (AA), she is so agressive and explosive and her choreography seemed fine to me (unlike her floor choreo that was painful to watch), so I really hope she makes it
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 By individual medal I meant one on bars or beam, I don't see her being an all arounder either. But really it's a shame, after Nastia won so many people already considered Becca a lock for the all around gold just because she's a WOGA girl, so much pressure. But she's always been a fighter, I really respect and admire her for that. If she comes strong on beam and especially bars I believe she can help the team in those events and maybe be the team leader.
I have one small question on Jordyn's third pass at the end leaves out the front hand sproing and uses a split leap instead. I find the Front flip makes it complete. I just find that so weird. She is sooo amazing by the way.
it's because of the olympic training system they employ on they're athletes. Its a 24/7 thing where as some countries the people still have normal jobs and train on the side
Shawn retired before the Visa Championships so she couldn't qualify for Olympic trials in the first place. Nastia made it to the Olympic trials but messed up on bars on both night 1 and 2. And for Alicia, sadly Martha couldn't find a spot for her on the US team :(
i'm 14, on the level 4 team, and i'm gonna be a freshman in high school next year. i am in love with this sport. but when it comes to my education, they think i should quit before high school, because they know that i will probably never go far with this sport, and it will interfere with my education. they said that by the time summer ends i'm gonna have to let this sport go. I do not want to quit even though i know that i'm older than everyone else, and i don't know what to do.
It is possible. The oldest age that I'm aware of someone starting and making it to this level is eleven and that one ( I forgot the young lady's name) did make it to Olympic level, but that is basically unheard of. If you can do it that would be awesome! Just don't forget to take care of yourself and not just your dream. Best wishes.
Super powerful tumbler.. I think it is a shame that she and her coach did not invest in high level choreography. She is going to the OLYMPICS- no doubt about it- this looks so slapped together. There's no extension in any dance, head movements, the only parts of this routine that say "Wow look at me" are the tumbling. To me, she's meeting 50% of the potential of a great routine. Instead of creating something that when people watch in 20 years, they say "Jordyn had an incredible floor routine."
your a sweetheart Jordyn..more power to you.GOD BLESS YOU and your FAMILY.
Gonna see Jordyn on Thursday C: Love her. Im excited to watch her do her gymnastics live :D
jordyn weiber you inspired me to try harder in gymnastics i wish i could be like you
love her! such a strong gymnast !
yes i agree about the floor music, she seems like such a good dancer aswell! and yes that sounds very good!
Gymnastics is hard for me at times but I always look at you guys and u help motivate me:)
im so glad she kept her floor music !
her landings are amaaaazing!!!
Excelente!! Felicitaciones...
i cant wait to see her compete again soon!
i love her she rocks and i was in and i am on her gymnastics team!!!good luck girl
you are so brilliant!!
Always do what your heart tells you to do. Don't make other people make decisions for you always do what you think is best for you!
She was one of the best gymnasts.
Gotta love tis stuff!
Yes, I'm pretty sure that was the plan.
And I LOVE Gabby as well
Dang... why's everybody hating? Her routines are stacked with difficulty and she's had the pressure put on her to step up. She may not have been as clean that day as before but that doesn't mean she's a bad gymnast in any sense. Amazing.
she is going to win the all-around medal in the 2012 olympics. : )
she is amazing
OMG! She is awesome!
I agree after evaluating their routines.

gabby is just amazing, her and larisa are my favourites as with you :)
@MissMuppetLover and also her direction was towards the left so no way it was perfectly executed!!
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 To add to beam, .1 deduction for lack of artistry to give her an E of 8.300 and total of 14.300.
FX: Silivas: flexed feet and hop .2, triple full: legs apart on landing, huge step, uncontrolled .5, triple turn: slightly uncontrolled .1, split jump: legs not parallel to floor, missing 180 .2, split leap 1/1: missing 180, over-rotated .2, double pike: low, hop .2. haha the coach jumping in the backround :') 1:01
you did amazing!

yeah i figured! thats why she is so good! I used to be a gymnast too before i got hurt bad but i was muscley too!
the coache's reaction on vault was just too funny!
Very good! She is so beautiful!
She's amazing *o*
She obviously had bobbles on beam and connections were a bit off, but man, if she sticks that beam routine it'll be amazing. I really like how it flows as well (i.e. turns back to back, leaps right after one another, etc.)

@Serbetel =O thank you sooooo much! You're my savior right now, haha. I'll send a link to the scores to your inbox.
Girls like you are my hero!!!:)
its amazing how she still got 2nd on bars after that mistake
i am 11 and im in level 7 of gymnastics...i love this sport
So surprised that she didn't make it- I mean she's been practicing all her life for that moment
She is so amazing i wish i was her
@ajhornell I agree Wieber needs to focus on execution and not upgrade, but not on beam. Her beam is rock solid and she's received 9+ as a well-deserved result of that! @slavaro1992 I agree, but it wasn't so much that Weiber was overscored, but that everyone's score was inflated.
She's so much like shawn johnson on vault and floor. Love her.

@xrictinagymnastics I agree. If she improved her choreo, I'd be in love with Bross's beam.
@dahighbar No it's not. All of the deductions I listed are valid.
This is what I have been talking about in this past few weeks on RUclips. If she does not improve and hit her bar routines, not even in dreams she will be able to beat Komova and Mustafina. i cannot believe she did not make the aa final in London wow!!!!!!!
I love her leo
Awesome
it's amazing what the human body can do
Just for Jordyn to perform in Madison Square Garden is an accomplishment alone.
my gym actually bought the beam they competed on lol (it's so nice and easier to do tricks on)
@xrictinagymnastics Yeah. They both had a very light elegance to them. Khorkina being slightly more fiery, of course.
I am sorry she didn't make the all around final but I feel sorry for the way the reporters wanted to get her reaction knowing it was too soon. Give HER SOME TIME she will bounce back.

Yay .... Go jordan
LOL at Jordyn's coach's reaction after the vault replay >.
Splits should always be 180 degrees in the air, basically perfectly horizontal. Jordyn's are actually pretty good most of the time. Shawn Johnson's splits on beam were always a little off.
she lives in my city Dewitt Michigan, its a super small town with only population of 5000
@peaceluvcheer97 I heard Finnegan actually has an Amanar as well. For 2012, I think Ross, Maroney, Raisman, Wieber, and Douglas will all be on the team and the funny thing is, they all have Amanars.

She is really good:)
She is the most amazing athelete ever!!!;)
She won. Gabby Douglas posted a higher total but she was only competing as exhibition so her scores didn't count.
It was a 15.133, Raisman scored .433
she is my romodel!!!!
Actually, if I recall, when she won Worlds I complimented her on her ability to regain composure on bars and her rock solid steadiness on beam. I don't really like her, but I must admit that her twisting form are the best in the business.
She's going to my school to be a student & the Assistant Gymnastics Team Coach :D
we're the same age. she's in the olympics and im running my blog..... at least im running.
Shawn retired before the Visa Championships so she couldn't qualify for Olympic trials in the first place. Nastia made it to the Olympic trials but messed up on bars on both night 1 and 2. And for Alicia, sadly Martha couldn't find a spot for her on the US team :(
E' il primo doppio teso alle parallele che non è arcato!!!
Nice

The answer will soon learn - in London!

@beambaby11 It appears you don't understand what I meant by "this meet is a joke". I wrote that BECAUSE of all the inconsistencies in scoring!
She got an E score of 9.6 for her Amanar, not 9.1, that's why she scored 16.1...
i cant even balance on the balance beam and look what they can do
Super powerful tumbler..
