@@DrSamthedentisthomie hi dr Sam, this would be amazing! I’ve been looking at the tuition of several programs and the financial aid/scholarship options, my ideal would be: less debt:higher quality education, but that’s been very hard to determine
Thank you so much for your insights ma'am, the video was very informative. Could you please answer my question: I have only heard of dentists pursuing MPH or MHA to improve their profile and their chances of getting into an DDS program later on. Is it not practically possible to do a Master's in Health or Bioinformatics and then try for DDS.
Hey @Sruthi Kasturi, Its is done as a backup by some and as the main field by some depending on their interests. You can do whichever field you like before applying for DDS. These are all non clinical courses just buying you some extra time for preparation. Just make sure you are doing something which still adds to your experience which points towards dentistry either via research or some publications or extra curricular activities.
Hello Dr. Sam, thank you so much for the insight. I have a GPA of 3.93, I am literally the example for the worst candidate you mentioned in this video, gave INBDE waiting for results. Not so much of extracurricular activity or even volunteering in my home country. How do you think I should balance the lack of volunteering and ECAs? Any suggestion would be great. Thank you in advance.
Hi @anupokhare, the answer is in your own question 😊 The best power one can ever have in life is identifying what one is lacking in (self realization) and working exactly to improve that (self motivation) 😊. You are half way there. Remember volunteering and extracurricular activities do not need you to be in college currently. . They can be done after graduation too. The video has a lot of suggestions and details. Use it as per your criteria. Good luck.
Hello Dr. Sam, Thank you for all that you have shared. It is really helpful. I have a few more questions which I hope you can answer for me. After my BDS and my work experience in India. I did my MHA and worked as an Administrative assistant from 2020 to 2022 but could not join a dental clinic to gain experience as they took it as a liability and were not interested to take us in due to COVID. So far, after passing my INBDE i have started shadowing but I find it difficult to find a job as a dental assistant as everyone wants an experienced dental assistant. I came to know from a few of my friends that dental assistant experience is also good for your application but no one is ready to hire. Do you think will this affect my application? I am also planning to work as an administrative assistant since I have not found any job to work as a dental assistant. I need this to cover some costs independently for my application? Will this affect my application ? My dental GPA is 3.05 and my MHA is 3.56 is this good enough for application?Thank you
Great questions @Amanjot Randhawa. Yes dental assistant experience does help overall. You can initially offer to shadow or volunteer. Help around in the office at that time. Once they know that you are good at it then they will be in favor of accepting a new dental assistant. Above 3 GPAs are great. However the competition currently is fierce so a better GPA is preferred.
Hello Dr. Sam. I finished by BDS In the year 2015 from India. I am considering to continue my education here in the USA. Will you guide me on how to start over? Thank you
Hi Dr. So we have to fimd a demtal school before applying for inbde? I mean can i get a student visa first then when i get to the US and then apply for school?
For international dentists , inbde is a requirement for any dental school applications. If one is in a US grad in a US dental school then the students typically take INBDE during their 4th year of DDS /DMD programs. The above video has personalized information for both kinds 🙂
@Dentist In order to get a student visa you will need to apply to schools. Unless you are planning on non dental courses where INBDE is not needed then yes Student F1 visa can be possible. You can take INBDE after coming to US for those.
Thank you dr for your informative video. I have one query about documents for ece.Do I submit mark sheets & certificates of class 10&12 ,BDS 1,2,3,4th year mark sheets ,Degree, and internship certificate duly signed by principal?Kindly reply .
Depending on your country, you will be shown a list of documents needed by ECE as shown in the video. Send only those documents. For the complete details you may check here ruclips.net/video/U6eiqkByZFo/видео.html
Hi, thanx for all the videos. Ur videos are very informative. Can I take INDBE exam after 10yrs of passing BDS from India?? With more than 6yrs of clinical practice.
Of course you can take the exam. Make sure you prepare well. Good luck. But the main question is why the sudden drastic move of going back to school after 10yrs of practice? Please give it a thought if you would like to get back to school.
Yes it is Mohammad Kabadaya. Especially if you can use some of your research/thesis topics there to add to your SOP for dental school 🙂 + You can work afterwards with it to save up for dental schools, if that admission doesn't pan out immediately. Check out the whole video for details.
Hey @Cheolwoo Jung, even though the GPA below 3 is slightly on the lower side, many people apply and try to improve their application in other extra curricular areas and many times do get accepted.
@@justasomebody442 it is ok for health informatics. Most often universities will have the info about minimum GPA they expect for students to get accepted.
What to do if you have nbde attempts? And how much is the chance? Do they consider students with attempts? How much effect it has on application? Please advice
Hey Sabiha, all attempts are reported to schools. But if you can make your application by working on the other aspects, it would greatly help in improving your profile. I have known people with multiple attempts getting accepted as well.
Does research and shadowing in india help? I have some research experience in my bds but i dont think i can have work experience in india since i am planning to go to usa right after i finish my bds. So i was wondering if shadowing in india would help. Thank you!
