- Hi guys and girls! This weeks video is on the famous India Dribble. The basics when it comes to playing hockey. This video will teach you how to make it a useful skill to use in the game.

Indian dribble was first seen at 1956 Summer Olympics. Indian dribble was named after dribbling skill of INDIAN TEAM .

The key part of this skill is especially when beating a defender or a tackle we have to move towards ur man on the left hand side ie on his right and then very quickly u have to dribble the ball towards ur right side which means ur in much comfortable position in the end to make a move whereas ur defender is on ur wrong side. Watch former players such as dhanraj pilllay or shabhaz ahmed who use that skill very effectively. U need lot of hand eye coordination to do it quickly.
Works the opposite site too and you have more reach

Good intentions but disappointing (even non-existent) explanations. How do you determine position of right hand grip? How do you determine the distance of the ball from the feet when you start? Do you tap the ball from side to side or push and pull it?

professional players are normally around 28-30. It will be tough but maybe if u try hard enough and have natural talent

Sir why is the hockey ground reduced to size : instead of 25 m we have 23 meter lines now . Pl educate
23m is approximately 25 yards. The change was from imperial measurement to metric not a change of distance. The goal is still 4yards' wide or 3.66m.

Why is it called the Indian dribble
Because 1928 to 1960 India won continuously 7 gold medals in Olympics by using these dribbling techniques, that's why it's called Indian dribble.

Does playing hockey not lead to serious back issue?

If you don’t have correct technique then yes it can. You're supposed to bend with the knees more than the back. It still does lead to some back pain though.
Use your knee,ankle,hip more than Vertebral column.Maintain Lumbar lordosis.Only bend during dribbling,passing, receiving and defending.Don't bend when the ball is far away.Look at Aran Zalewsky how he carries the ball.
