Susan has one of those, "She could sing me the phone book!" kind of voices. Solid guitar player, too! Add Annie Raines...a living harmonica legend in her own right...and this could never be anything but amazing! Incidentally, this is the kind of performance any lip pursing harp player (like me) should watch...to reinforce the importance of adding tongue blocking to the old bag of tricks. According to Jason Ricci, "Susan had given me the record after a gig I did with her at the Black Diamond, filling in for Annie who was busy with Paul Richelle." I figure that puts him in a pretty solid position to know...especially considering the heights he has reached since then.
John Rose, been enjoying this ever since! My favorite female artist! Been following her since she was introduced at Austin City Limits by Jimmie Vaughan! Instant addiction!
The first time I heard this I had no idea the singer was white. Not only that but I’m a strings girl, but the harmonica involuntarily bent me in half. It’s just excellent.
