Booker T is a fucking legend. His aura alone in WCW/WWE made him one of the greats for sure 💯
My pops used to tell me they wouldn’t let a black guy be anything besides tag team champion. Still remember watching Nitro when he won the TV Title for the first time against Disco Inferno and calling my dad while he was at work all excited. He was favorite wrestler since he was on Harlem Heat, seeing his career from that point on was very inspiring. Booker T is one of the best to ever grace the squared circle.
Check out my guy Ron Simmons, he was the first black heavyweight champ in mainstream wrestling. He beat Big Van Vader for the WCW belt. Amazing moment as a kid seeing that. Ron ran so Booker could fly. Two legends.

Being a kid from Harlem, seeing this guy in the ring changed the trajectory of my life
Even when I learned early that he wasn't from Harlem, but in fact from Texas I still saw him as one of the greats!

We are all fans of the Wrestling OGs. No matter our profession or how grown up we are.. seeing a legend like Booker T brings back a flood of childhood memories for all of us.
Booker T truthfully got everyone respect because the man never hide where he came from and what he did then paid his debt to society and turned his life around along with his big brother, and with his employer believing in Booker T’s future on becoming a pro wrestler and becoming a successful man in doing so! The struggles is real and yet Booker showed us all that if you want something in life you work hard for it and Booker did just that he didn’t make excuses or squander the opportunity given to him to fulfill everything he did and even now look at Booker he been in WWE longer then he ever was in WCW he is helping the younger talent in NXT along HBK and has his own thing with ROW back home in Texas giving back to the community that gave him a chance and is paying it forward over 10 folds!
I went to a ROW show and seeing Booker T that close and in person, took me back to Harlem Heat and WCW days.
I love that acknowledgement from Izzy to Booker T. It’s nice to see the impact that you made on the younger generation, and I like how this happened if Booker T being there and seeing how shocked Izzy was.

Tbh any fan who grew up watching wrestling would react that way if we ever saw Booker in real life. Dude is an absolute icon. Easily a top 10 all time great. He was always one of my favourites as a kid.

A star among stars, Booker did commentary for a real boxing event and usually boxing fans HATE when anybody outside of boxing does anything in boxing but Booker was the only non boxer I ever seen boxing fans all happy to have around the sport

Pro wrestling will always help turn out superstars for MMA. The amount of kids that took up any mix of martial arts over the years started out watching wrestling. Guys like Chael Sonnen helped teach the art of selling a fight and that was directly informed by wrestling. Love this, it's historical.
