- The wonderful Shangri-Las singing Remember Walkin' in the sand.
Caution : not a real video ; I tried to recompose this great song with the only two images I had from some vids posted by Dazzababes that I have edited with that poor S... software that is Wind.-Movie-Maker. The result is poor but it just gives me the occasion to shout once again my favorite youtube request that is IF SOMEONE HAS THE VIDEO OF THIS GREAT SONG, PEASE, PLEASE, PLEEEAAASE POST !! Thanks by advance.
Don't forget, Mary will issue a new album, be sure to check her website :

Mary, you're the best__
FOUND IT. This. This is the original.
Me to it drove me crazy
Same here!
Omg me too!!! 😃😃😃😃😃
Just found it too lol was wondering what the original was
Me too I am finding it from half an hour finally go it 😭😭😭
Sadly Mary Weiss passed away on 20th Jan 2024. R.I.P. Mary. You have left us with great memories.
Damn i didnt even know until reading this :'( thanks for the music indeed, what a voice! The best girl group ever in my eyes
I LOVE Th Shagri-Las, and I'm a hard-rock guy. The raw emotion in these young girl's voices put many of today's singers to shame
I think that for the most part, only those of us that were actually there in 64 can really appreciate just what these old songs mean. I was 11, and I had a transistor radio pasted to my ear every waking minute. (I don't hear so good these days, lol) But in that time it was like music was exploding, expanding, and evolving almost daily. It was a very very special time , the likes of which has never been seen since. Can I get a witness?
One of (and maybe) the most underrated songs of the 60's. First time I heard it, I stopped everything and just listened. Still am.
At 0.48. So good. So good. Oh so so so so so.
I agree with you! Think I was too young to appreciate it in the past. Now I love it.
This song brings back memories! I was 13 and had a girlfriend called Cathy, I was at college in Hull and we used to meet every night and walk everywhere with a portable radio (no ipods then ! ) listening to this song. Thats 45years ago. Bring back those days !
I'm confused. You were 13 and in college?
@@13lilsykos it's been 13 years. Wonder if he would see your reply
@@13lilsykos maybe he meant private school
Uh you was in junior High not College.😲😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@everclear6201, we don't have junior high in the UK.
Mary Weiss One of the greatest female singer in the 60's. She still perform, and sound great.
I am a straight up metal head, but I absolutely love this song. Her voice is so beautiful, great great song.
bro, a metal version would be epic. 🤘🏻
A manson cover would be nice
Aerosmith covered this song
Same I love bands like greenday and led zepelin
Same!
Fun fact, billy joel was the one playing piano on this song, when he was 14
I have wikipedia too!
Really that was preaty cool. Loved billy joel to bad he's dead now.
@@moonbeam8487 That's a bit premature...Billy's alive and quite well.
@@moonbeam8487 that's pretty morbid, poor Billy, he is still alive and well and still walking this planet. Lol.
@@moonbeam8487 He's Biden's immigration czar!~
Thank you Amy Winehouse for introducing me this lovely group. The Shangri-las have such beautiful songs. I'm very glad I found them :)
Seeing comments from 12 years back. How come people have not found this and made this viral yet???
TikTok has got you covered
These girls were the best girl group of their day. The songs they sung were timeless and relate todays times. These were the bad girls of rock & roll with chips on their shoulders and lots of style. They were just great! Too bad they broke up to early...
It is nice to see people who never experience the 60s appreciate the styles and sounds of that great era. It was an era where the questioning of authority and protest was everywhere. The various music typifies this in various forms and styles. If you were to look at all the artist that came from that era. You will see the impact they made to societies throughout the world. I can remember in 1964 when the Beatles first came to the US I was shock to see the hair style. Crewcuts ended right then.
Even if you can't locate the original video, this was a very nice tribute to a legendary girl-group. Thanks for posting this.
I just love these girls! They are another underrated group from back in the day. Thanks for this posting.
one of the greatest songs ever. both sensual and heartwrenching at the same time. and god i love mary!
Love this song. My mother went to high school with these girls!
This aged well
This song remix is all over tiktok, I just heard this song on Good Fellas tho
Haha I heard it on Goodfellas too! Ha!
That's what brought me here too
Haha same!
This music is timeless!!!...I would've love to live with the generation of the doo wop era...there was so much feeling in those songs, sadly nowadays people are forgettin' about the soul in art and music...
This is pretty inovative stuff for '64. Listen to those Moonlight Sonata like piano riffs and seagull cries in the background. Groovy!
These girls "ROCK" does not get any cooler!!! Way ahead of their time!!! Awesome vocals!!!!
Speaking of the industry, look what PF Sloan went through ! It's a murdering world out there. And that was back then. Any comments ??
PS I love watching these old Shangri -las videos. Mary Weiss is truly awesome.
LOL! This is what I call a "spooky" song. It scared me too! Cool tune :)
Fun fact: this song is in the movie Goodfellas
It was? I have that movie, but I don’t remember hearing this. I guess I’m going to watch it now, and listen for it.
@@StevenRainmaker starts at the 1 hour 04 and 55 second mark. Right before the the move Billy Bates corpse
Bro I am watching that right now and I’m like oh my gosh it’s that tiktok song playing in the background so I knew there had to be an original so I found it 😂
I came here because of goodfellas 🔥
Man, that clap, snap action was/is sooooo Groovy!
One of the most atmospheric pop records ever.
This song sends chills up and down my spine - from 1964, when I was born!
Lead singer is a real cutie. Love the song and the music of this period. Nothing like is exists today, that's for sure.
I am a Ronettes' fan...but props to Mary Weiss. She brings emotion, feeling, power, and even some nice "roll playing" to her personal appearances! Mary is still here...and Liz/Betty. But so sorry to learn that the twins Margie and Mary Ann have both passed away (1998) and
(1971)...really sad.
What are you talking about !! I know Amy is the best !!!! Im defending her if you look at my comment again !!! Amy IS original and totally awesome !! I love her shes my idol -(cept da drugs !!!) lol !!! I love her to piece cant imagine my world without her !!!
AMY=LEGENDARY !!
Excellent video coolerator!!!!!What an amazing song.....Amazing group.....
My Dad and I have been trying to find the original for like 2 days now. It finally occurred to me to Google the lyrics other than "oh no" 😅😂
Still stuck on 60s girl groups today. Shangri Las! Sing it Mary!!
RIP Shadow Morton
Remember walking in the Sand, heard it when I was a very young girl over the radio
living in Brooklyn during that time. Regards and condolances to Family and close friends
That was real handmade music back in the days! Love it!!
what a classic glad to see its still appreciated still get that chill.
Fun Fact: All the musicians heard in this song were all minors at the time of recording. Mary was 15, Betty was 17, and the Ganser twins were 16. Billy Joel was 14.
Also Aerosmith remade this song
Could I ever go to a post without seeing that someone stating music was way better once before and they could live in that world? GAWD,
man i love this song mary has a hell of a voice.there one of the best girl bands ever
I'm 43, and never knew until today that these girls were white! ALWAYS loved their music, regardless...so, regardless of what the photography or other comments are, the Shangri-Las were one of the BEST "girl bands"....predecessors to Pat Benatar!
It's a very nice song, and the girl performs it in a way that makes me quite emotional...
Forever awesome, Mary !
So great! I fell completely in love with oldies music.. Everything about these types of songs just makes you feel chill.
I heard this song were originally almost 7 minutes long, but break it down for the radio. I would love to hear the 7 minutes version of this song.
a pure gem, not heard this for years. great post
Simply brilliant! The memories are flooding my brain right now~
It's all good.
this is among the best songs ever written. jesus, that chord progression is amazing
merci à ce merveilleux groupe...autre chose que la soupe qu'on nous sert actuellement...
"Free As A Bird" - when the Threetles revived this 1977 Lennon demo in 1995, they added a middle section. Unfortunately, they added the middle section from the 1964 Shangri-Las hit "Remember (Walkin' In The Sand)." hmmm
These were the Bad Girls of Rock & Roll in the early 60's. They were teenage New Yorkers with a bit of an edge to them. They were just great!...
Greetings from Germany 2024
This is surreal footage. I love it. What a beautiful and haunting vocal. Shadow Morton's production is brilliant! the Shangs rule!
"Henry do you like the leg or the wing, or are you still going for the old hearts and lungs?' GoodFellas
I love the music/style/fashion of the sixties. I never experienced it, but it was cool.
The original... finally. worth it
Seems like the other day .....
My baby went away .....
He went away cross the sea .....
It's been two years or so !!
Since I saw my baby go ....
And then this letter came for me !!
He said that we were through .......
He had found somebody newm ......
Let me think - let me think ......
What can I do?
Oh no.ç - Oh no - Oh no no no no no
....
Walking in the sand -
(Remember) Walking hand in hand .....
(Remember) The night was so exciting .....
(Remember) Smile was so inviting ----
(Remember) Then he touched my cheek -
(Remember) With his fingertips
(Remember) Softly - Softly we'd meet with our lips !!
Whatever happened to !!
The boy that I once knew?
The boy who said he'd be true !!
Oh - what happened to
The light I gave to you !!
What will I do with it now?
Walking in the sand -
(Remember) Walking hand in hand .....
(Remember) The night was so exciting .....
(Remember) Smile was so inviting ----
(Remember) Then he touched my cheek -
(Remember) With his fingertips
(Remember) Softly - Softly we'd meet with our lips !!
I literally got so annoyed by the tik tok song and wanted the original.
Me too
Yeah they ruin it 😒
So this is the original version of "oh no" ?
basically, it's a remix of it.
This Is original. My mom used to play this song
A true classic and example of good music!
1964 was THE YEAR for music!!!!!!!!!
This is why I wanna love back in the 20th century, the girls were so natural, and hardly used makeup... and no one was acting like people do now in the 21st century
Nothing wrong with girls wearing makeup. They can do what they want. Also I'm pretty sure girls still wore it in the 20th century??? It's has been around forever. Have you seen makeup looks from the 80s? Those were way more colourful and outlandish than makeup these days, which is more natural.
Super job putting this together
Can't stop playing it!
A Top 5 hit for The Shangri-La's in the fall of 1964.
Wow, I love this song. Made my cat's ears up like an owl. lol... Awesome!
What a voice!
Great music!
They were such a bad ass band. The production flourishes in their work was dope as well.
the shangri las were a girl group
I love this song. It never gets old :-)
I think its their best song. I never saw them but like their songs.
gourgeous music, production and recording
if this was released today, would certainly be a # 1
Absolutely adorable.
As a child whever I heard this song, I got really scared due to the birds in the background. I didn't live near a beach, so when I heard the sea gulls, I thought they were monsters. Love the song now though.
this is probably one of my favorite songs in the history of songs.
I can't believe just yesterday my girlfriend said something that remembered me of this I just couldn't remember who it was or the title itself, I went crazy looking and couldn't only remember the oh- no- oh_ no no no no na no. God what timing! Actually it's creeping me out!
They were great! Ask the New York Dolls, Blondie, Aerosmith, etc., brilliant, so young, cool & talented!
Great song, but very sad. It does make a good point that long distance relationships are VERY difficult to keep. When I was 17 my gf moved and found a new guy. Then 2 years ago, another moved and I found my fiance. Sad stories but true but my self and both of those exes got through it and have found someone better for ourselves.
this is my number one song, i love it
what a great decade! Too bad I was born on the late 70´s. Too bad I wasn´t born on the 50s.
well she used the track's ohhh ahh base line of the track for her song back to black so there you go. I love Amy Winehouse and the shangri las and Ronnettes. I'm so glad she resurrected that 60's sound that inspired B2B her album. This music still hold true and it's so romantic and deep.
You have done a great job on the video. Thanks for posting.
Mary is sucha babe!!!!! And love that voice. Great song. Thanks for the posting.
great video, I made out in the back of a car to this in 1966.....thanks for the memory
Gorgeous. Thanks very much.
One of the most atmospheric pop records ever made.
Wonderful! Thank you for the memory.
So great! And Mary...
Wow, great job on the dub. This is perhaps the closest thing the world will ever get to an official video for this classic.
Great record ,still sounds good today
Good job of making Something out of almost nothing.
Maay Weiss' face is worth the whole vid.
Kudos!
i dont know much about this group but they got heart and im loving them,...the white version of phil spectors musical greats, the ronettes.wha yall think?
this song is pure awesome, i first heard it on the movie Goodfellas & i've been wondering what song it was forever! now i know :D
Love the bouffant helmet-hair and leather. Seriously, they look great.
oldybutgoldy. love it. memory lane. blast from the past.
You got that right ,1964 freshman in high school, they cant make music like this any more.
love love this song and The Shangri Las
nice work coolerator3
monster song. so sad so much emotion music has lost so much nowadays and that is the biggest tragedy of all.
Here to be in the first 400 comments, have a nice one guys
Very similar to a line in “Free as a Bird”
“Whatever happened to the life that we once knew?”
Almost the same melody
John Lennon
Jesus, this song was bananas!
