The amount of people commenting that this or that type of mouse is better are not really getting it. You don't use this INSTEAD of a mouse - you use it WITH a mouse; using the 3D controller with the left hand and your mouse with the right as usual. Stops you needing to use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom and pan about within the drawing. Also, once the buttons are set up as you want, it reduces the need to move your hands to the keyboard. Had an old Space Explorer until it stopped working with Windows 10 and recently got a SpaceMouse Pro from Ebay (a lot cheaper!). Awesome piece of kit, but I agree that it takes some getting used to.
@@MassimoMerolla-mm4rf mouse wheels are okay but the constant rolling up and down can lead to strain. Particularly if, like me, you suffer from RSI. Well I have using 3D mouse at my office. It is useful for viewing big assemblies in visualization software. I generally use to view and understand when I open the entire tractor assembly which we call E BOM on NX visualization it is faster and easier to zoom and rotate things easily but while modeling I prefer my traditional mouse.
Myself and several of my coworkers just got a bunch of these, and while there is certainly a learning curve, it is AMAZING once you get used to it. Two of my coworkers don’t really use them, since they never got the hang of it, and are comfortable with standard pan/tilt controls. I took about an hour to start to get a feel for it, and can now confidently use it. It’s probably not technically much faster than a keyboard and mouse in Fusion 360, but it is SO much more fun, and DEFINITELY makes CAD more enjoyable and intuitive. Maybe not an absolute necessity for mechanical design, but I imagine this would be a game-changer for more artistic applications such as 3D animation.
Or you just become a master at spinning the part with the middle-mouse button really quickly or just barely and are able to view the object in your head in different orientations and have your fingers in an almost gamer setup, palm on the CTRL key, pinky on the Shift and other fingers ready to hit hot keys.
Made 16 hot keys with crtl and shift and enter and esc on the mouse on the left part of keyboard. Only numeric on the left side would need to be added. Lightning fast work.
I have three fingers on my keyboard Shift + MB = rotate Ctrl + MB = zoom in and out (the scroll in my mouse lags like crazy) S = SW shortcut key MB = move around
Not just CAD. Its great in Unreal and blendwr but also iclone where they have mapped the keys to their animation tools and i wish more thought like reallusion.
Yeah... I wouldn't ever pay the 2k they cost. Yet I do use it (I made my own with a cheap knockoff arduino, some joysticks, and some "broken hopes and dreams" powder, aka: so much work I almost fell into depresion again)
yeah, if you are working on one model whole month-maybe, if you are producing like 20 a day, waste of time. Macros, tons of shortcuts and workflow. That's all you need. And let's be clear: some of the enterprise features are not working in Solidworks, buttons are positioned in weird way, no lighting on pad, no sketch commands on function keys. Waste of money
Screw this thing. Bought one and it started moving my model when I wasnt touching it and deleting and overwriting changes. Took a good while to figure out it was all because of the fancy new tool I just got.
