Hello! My name is Kristen, I am 23 years old, from Sacramento CA, and I have a BA in Psychology from Sacramento State University. I created this channel for three reasons that are very close to my heart. One, to help others be able to tell their stories and be advocates for mental health, to give recovery tips and tricks to help others find the help they need, and to spread awareness for mental health issues to fight the stigma surrounding it. The more we talk about mental illness the more normalized it will be in our society and the more people will not be ashamed to get help!

He should have turned the camera off and left. Japanese culture has high respect for the dead and he just recorded a dead body. You should never show a dead body especially someone who hung themself and especially to young audience. This is suicide forest there are signs outside the forest saying that "your family loves you" and it advise not going in alone. Japanese government even has a rule that if you find a person in the forest you should not record it and leave, and tell the authorities. What he did was highly disrespectful.

I put a prayer for the family of this person on my instagram and somebody commented ' Why is it a big deal?' I was in tears. I had to explain how some people react differently, especially those who have expeirenced it themselves.

I think part of the problem is the "bro" behavior that Logan and Jake Paul have with any situation they encounter. If you treat every instance of life like it's a joke then when you encounter serious situations, your default is to treat it like every other thing happening. I totally agree with everything you said here, there are so many people struggling with suicidal thoughts that need to know that there is hope. I also think for the people out there who carry that prankster bro mentality, they need to learn how to separate entertainment from reality, and that has to be demonstrated for them by the people they look up to like Logan Paul.

Kristen, I am so happy that you talked about this. Even though you advertised to people that dealed with suicide to not watch this video, but I watched it anyway even if I attempted suicide 10 times throught 2013-2017 and I still deal with self-harm.
I was really shocked when I came to know about this drama with other various videos. Your video was the one that touched me and that I liked the most. I totally agree with your opinion and I am really happy that you gave your opinion on this thing.

I agree with you...he should not have done what he did and definitely should not have posted it...she helps me a lot too i deal with self harm,depression,anxiety,and suicidal thoughts but remember he did what he did for attention and we don't need to worry about what he does it is not a positive atmosphere for people especially those of us who have problems of our own with suicidal thoughts and depression and things

I was very sucidal in my teenage years. No one helped and no one cared. I was alone and a afraid. Music especially listening to Garth Brooks got me through a lot of hard times. I have struggled with mental illness my whole life and now I'm getting the much needed counseling and medication I so need. This guy discussed me. This is not a joke, someone was in so much pain that he or she thought death was the only option to relieve it. Your not not alone, please don't take your life. There is help for you. If you to talk I'm here for you. This guy needs to be banned from all social media.
I apreciate that you talked about this because most of the students a the middle school i attend tell me and my group of friends to kill ourselves because we watch frickin anime, and try to pass it off as a joke five minutes later and they never get in trouble. One such idiot noticed my self harm scars and even said "wow you've actually attempted it, glad someone took my advice" and I cried for an hour and had to leave early. Now that youtube stars like Logan Paul are making jokes about it too, it feels like I'm standing on the edge of a cliff that ever so slowly cracks off.
Nina the Potato don’t worry sweetie, middle school kids can unfortunately be some of the worst bullies out there. One day you’ll be graduated and away from all of them. There’s nothing at all wrong with liking anime :) my boyfriend and his friends are in their 30s and they still love it. Don’t let these bullying fools get the best of you. make sure you take good care of yourself and get whatever help you need for your self-harming. There’s no shame at all in getting help, i started seeing a therapist over the last couple years myself.. i wasn’t self harming but id been in a very dark place. And one day you’ll look back on this chapter of your life and be so grateful that you’re now onto better things, far away from the bullies who will likely always have miserable lives. Studies have shown that there’s a screw loose when it comes to bullies.. they are either a straight up sociopath or have severe issues behind the scenes that they never tell anyone about. When I was in middle school I got bullied for having hairy arms 😜 I was kind of an “ugly duckling” back then and kids could be so mean, but I also remember being so appreciative of the nice kids who would stick up for me. There are good people out there who will always want good things for you, remember that these bullies will one day be long forgotten in your past because you’ll be too busy living your own beautiful life ♥️

One of my best friends called me after they watched Logan's video and she was sobbing down the phone because I have attempted before and I'm suicidal again and she's been supporting me so well but she was petrified I was going to do that to myself and it hurt so bad... it just annoys me how someone can upload something like this for everyone to see
What bothers me is that he said that it was an "in the moment" sort of thing when he posted the video, but in the moment is being there and seeing it. He made the conscious decision to go back and edit the footage, include that clip and post the video, knowing what was in it. He has a young audience demographic and I can't imagine what that could do to a child's mental state. As someone who has experienced mental illness and suicidal thoughts, it is so triggering and upsetting to see. It was disrespectful to the victim, their family and everyone watching. I'm glad you spoke up about this girl, much love to you❤️

There are people saying that the community is overreacting with this and they are not.His actions were wrong in all levels,from not being educated about mental illness to not being aware of Japanese culture to profiting from a dead person's body to disregarding Japan's authorities about not filming a dead body in the forest.

What gets me is the exploitation of another persons tragedy for personal gain. What disturbs me is the utter lack of respect for the dead that I saw on display in that video.

Okay so I went shopping with my mom earlier and literally overheard like 12 year olds talking about jake Paul so they obviously know the Paul brothers and I couldn’t imagine seeing that as a 12 year old it’s so messed up
I work at an elementary school and hear kids talking about the Paul brothers ALL OF THE TIME!! They sing the songs, they know the videos...this is why it is so important for us to speak up about it. They need to learn that they can't just put whatever they want out on the internet and have no consequences.

I lost someone I used to date to suicide. I didn’t until I started dating someone else and I just felt like crap. When Logan posted that i felt all that sadness and my own depression just came back out. I’m glad that you have made a video addressing this and not just showing your anger towards it. Thanks
I feel like after getting over the initial shock with nervous laughter, the weight of the situation would sink in and you'd not want to look at the footage again, let alone upload it for your young audience to see... a dead body...

I haven't watched the video. But as someone with depression, extremely bad cases where I'll shut myself off from friends and family. Memes, jokes, or even conversations joking about suicide is extremely therapeutic for me. Laughing at your problems is psychologically proven to not only engage in deeper meaningful relationships. But it also is good for people with the same problems that I have.

I completely agree with you 100% on this! I watched the video and honesty I got so emotional and it made me cry. I personally found this offensive and hurt me. As someone who has attempted suicide and has suicidal thoughts this video was so disrespectful and there are no excuses for what he did. You said everything I think and my opinion is the same as yours. Like you said he didn't have to upload the video. This video was triggering for me to be honest and makes me feel like shit. Yeah he did wrong but he doesn't deserve to be told to kill himself. I don't agree with what he did but that's never the right thing to do. He can apologise all he wants I don't care he's wrong. I'll never forgive him for this. He shouldn't have done it and he doesn't deserve to get recognition for this. I've had arguments with people about this video already and some people just annoy me. As someone who suffers from suicide I would not wish it upon my worst enemy
I met someone online. She was so nice. She was so kind. I talked to her daily. I thought we were friends. Then, one day she betrayed me. She said everything was a lie. She said that we weren’t really friends. I felt so betrayed. I lost my trust in everyone. I told one of my online friends my story and she helped me so much. She helped me, she revived my trust in people. She helped me, she checked up on me every day. Then one day, she asked me how I was. I gave my usual answer. “I’m fine.” Then, she asked me something she had never asked before. “Are you sure you are fine.” I started crying at that moment. I was not fine. I told her ‘no’ and she has helped me so much. I look up to her. She saw right through me, she knew I was not fine. I told her my darkest secrets about being suicidal. She was the one that helped me reach out for help. My point is, if you are suicidal, if you are going through a bad time, people will help you. You just need to find the right ones.
What bothers me most is not only that he reacted like that but THIS VIDEO WAS NOT LIVE! He would have watched it back multiple times, edited it and uploaded it to RUclips and spent time creating the thumbnail and the title. I was so shocked when I saw it because it really was graphic and CHILDREN can easily access his videos. He has a very young audience and it sickens me that he ignored that and was so heartless

I heard other creators mention this, and when I heard it, I was livid. Especially since I love human geography and culture around the world, i was angry he was treating death in a JAPANESE setting lightly (they take it seriously, I've seen others mention this as well) but even in any other setting he should have handled it better.
So I found you, through your video how to love with depression, and have been watching your vids. And you looked very familiar. I guess we went to BV together. It's so cool to see you doing this. Follow your dreams. Your videos about depression have been a lot of help, please keep making them. Hopefully one day people like you can become bigger than someone like Logan Paul.

I have suffered with depression for about 5 years, and back in 2016 I tried killing myself, and I've had friends that have lost people to suicide, and the fact that he made that video and posted it makes me really mad, I didn't watch the actually video but I've seen people talking about it and it makes me sick to my stomach that he would put someone who was so depressed and took their life on the internet like that. It's so wrong.

I've not been okay for some time now. It started 3-2 years ago when i was in 3-4th grade, my friend accendently told me that i was fat when we were talking, I'm sure she didnt mean it bad or something, i just laughed and played cool about it and i actually didnt care about it back then. Later in 4th grade i think so someone mentioned that i was fat again and i begun to think a lot about it, but it wasnt that bad at that point. The first day of school in 5th grade one of my dogs died we needed to go to the vet and basicly get him killed. I felt horrible, i felt like i was responsible for killing him, sometimes i even cried myself to sleep. Later on my teacher died she meant a lot to me and i broke even more down, i was starting to skip some meals some times, i just had bad thoughts and i couldnt socialize or concentrate anymore, i felt heavy. At Januar 2018 one of my good friends mom died of cancer and i hated seeing her being sad and it just made me feel guilty cause i couldnt do anything to help her. Not so long ago i started cutting myself and I'm still doing it. I'm afraid of myself. I just cant control it. I've been wanting to talk to my parents but i just can't, I'm afraid their gonna be mad at me, feel guilty or feel hurt because of me. I've seen your videos and I'm afraid i might have depression. I dont know what to do and i really want help, cause "I" think that people isnt supposed to be scared of them self. Can you give me some advise?
I can't put into words how hurt I was when I heard about this and watched the video. My sister and uncle both attempted suicide, and I have also had many suicidal thoughts before. This hit me so hard, imagining if my sister or uncle had succeeded and was shown that way to a globe audience for views made me feel like throwing up. From where I stand Logan Paul should NOT be able to continue on his career path.

Hey Kristen, how do you film these types of videos without triggering yourself? Or, if you do get triggered, how do you employ your coping strategies to deal with it?
I tried embarking on a more mental health oriented route with my channel and it led to a four day long crisis. Henceforth, I'm more skeptical of trying again even though I really want to. :( During that time I reached out a few times on Twitter and luckily the #SickNotWeak community reached back for me which was uberly helpful and heartwarming. I guess I just also want to say thank you for sharing your voice in this matter and for anyone else struggling, you are not alone.

I have bpd anxiety and depression and I told my Cpn I was going to take another paracetamol over dose and she didn’t even take me seriously even though I have taken loads of over doses and I now have liver damage
Nobody wants to help me bc I'm on Medicaid. I called a lot of psychiatrist offices and they all said they don't except my insurance. I even got told by quite a lot that or whatever practice that their practice is only for the working class. How is that fair to me and anyone else that is unable to work and needs a psychiatrist. The only place I can go to, has lowered my Zoloft and They don't except appointments for the psychiatrist. The therapy there sucks. I don't know what to do.Oh, and now their going to take me off the seizure medicine that I am on. I went and saw a neurologist and they said that my seizures are pseudo seizures and won't give me any anti seizure mess unless I show what the neurologist said and she said to go to pscychiatry so I go to psychiatrist and now their telling me that I don't need it and that's what my anti anxiety med is for which their going to lower. I'm just so sick of this. No doctors listen. It's ridiculous. The stigma that comes with being on Medicaid and with the anxiety disorders that I have along with being raped, and having PTSD bc of it and depression OCD, pseudoseizures. I don't understand why it's so difficult to get help that I need. The nurse that's at the current place I have no other choice but to go to, the nurse there writes all kinds of stuff in my chart to mess up my medicine. I don't understand why you would do that someone to make their life harder than it already is.
I go to the gym with my parents... and they don't know I self harm. but I can't really wear a long sleeve while working out. how else can I hide it?

I just wanna tell you that Jacksepticeye had a charity livestream for eight and a half hours. And by the end of it 220,000 dollars had been donated to The American Foundation for Suicid Prevention. The donation is open for a week so the money still keeps coming in. He wanted to do something positvie in regards to the Logan Paul situation.

My friend, Eithan Lorenzen shot himself a little over a year ago. I only got to know him for a month. What my family doesn't realize is that you can still become close friends with somebody in as little as a week, as such with this scenario. I have slow reactions to things, especially when in disbelief. Syross didn't believe that I had any sorrow for what had occurred, and I don't think Jade did either. I am still broken. He was my friend in English and Elvish. It's only been recently that I've started having suicidal thoughts. My way of dispersing them has been to laugh it off, have good jokes about suicide. It's not funny to everybody, but Rusty Cage was right when he suggested that these jokes are a sort of therapy to some people. I'm sorry about putting all this into a comment, and I wouldn't blame you if you reported me. Life is pretty fucked up, so why does anybody act like it's not. It's all in front of you: Cancer, Diabetes, War, Poverty, Pedophiles and Rapists, Certain Corrupt Political Figures, Murder, etc. I've used simple logic to determine that there is no meaning to life. Biologically speaking, the goal is to reproduce and have healthy children. Woo hoo. Some say the meaning of life is to give life a meaning. A re-writeable block. Interesting. My point is: Why does life exist? Why life? My temporary meanings are 1.) To not screw up the lives of my friends and family by ending my own and 2.) To enjoy Windows and .NET framework development a little longer. I am the eldest among my brothers, so I will never be able to take this course of action. They are likely to outlive me as it is. That's kind of scary, because my younger brother is psychotic.
