    Man I wish I was in your biology class. I have looped this video and I get smarter each time it plays.

    My dad once told me that if you can't explain something simply, you don't understand it well enough to teach.
    I applaud your ability to strip these seemingly complex concepts down to their essence.
    Coming from an engineering student whose most apparent knowledge gap is biology, thank you very much for putting all of these videos together.
    You'll soon have +1 views to all of your videos :)

    What is the problem with the bonding of two nitrogen atoms ?

    • @Hippieheyhey
      @Hippieheyhey 3 года назад

      I would say it wants to stay in that triple bond, it does not want to break free. When free, it gets the chance to bond to Hydrogen atoms etc forming nitrite then nitrate. Nitrogen in the converted form can then finally be used by bacteria in soil/plant/animals.

    VERY helpful. In class I found this quite difficult. Your clear steps and visual presentation made it suuuper easy. Thanks again :))

    Dumb question, does snow bring down nitrites too, for the soil?

    In another video i've seen on the nitrogen cycle it says that nitrogen fixation converts N2 into Ammonia not ammonium, please can you explain the difference, thanks!

    • @the81kid
      @the81kid 4 года назад

      I haven't finished studying it all, but ammonium is NH_4 while ammonia is NH_3. Ammonia is a weak base, when it's ionized it becomes ammonium. So maybe it depends on the pH of the soil?

      @@the81kid I really don't know man, haha I hope it all means the same thing lol

    at 3:20, denitrification shows a release of "N", should this be "N2" to complete the cycle? There's no comment about it.

    this is such a good video of explaining the nitrogen cycle. I have a question for step 5 and 6 why aren't we using nitrates ?

      hi, i just read my textbook, and this is what it says:
      - Nitrogen fixation (N2 to NH3/ NH4+ or NO3-)
      - Nitrification (NH3 to NO3-)
      - Assimilation (Incorporation of NH3 and NO3- into biological tissues)
      - Ammonification (organic nitrogen compounds to NH3)
      - Denitrification(NO3- to N2)

    In Quran, God mentioned, Surah Al Hijr [15:22]: And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.
