Great finish on your new Tamas. Noticed you have another set with a blue wrap. Do you, or anyone reading this, think a wrap finish significantly changes the sound of a drum? Is it brighter, does it inhibit or muffle the tone? I've owned sets with natural, painted, veneered and wrapped finishes and none sounded bad. But did they sound better? Or just different?
@DAGDRUM53 interesting question, I don't think the wrap really changes the sound, it's mainly the drum head and wood that is used. Hope that helps, thanks for commenting!
Me too! Thank ya sir, this is all I have room for in my house though is 4 kits lol. I think this should do it 🤣🤣🤣 I love them rite out of box, still got stock heads on the toms. I have some new ones for them though. I did put an evans coated on the snare bc it didn't sound that good to my standard.. now it does though, hope you have a drumtastic weekend brother!
Yeah like 4 kits now!!! This better be the main one hahaha jk !! Yeah I’m not sure what heads I like, but I don’t believe I’m into coated Tom heads anymore! Anyways have a terrific Sunday with you and your wife! The Homie Zach from Sioux Falls, South Dakota 🤙🏻🌟
Hi and Congrats love your kit I also like and own Yamaha drums and Tama drums too in the future you should get a Tama Starclassic also try to get a drum rack it would look nice I have them on my drums set have fun with you new kit
@josearielocasio4579 thanks! And no thanks on the starclassic lol I own enough, no more room. I'm sure they're good. I know they are a step up but I love my drums and need to focus on paying on these lol
What? Don’t need another drum set? Said no drummer ever ! Ha,Ha Tama makes some great drums, I’ve owned couple. One 83/84 Super Mahogany. Great kit just the sizes were too large. I play Ludwig Maples now, something about that Ludwig sound that has me. Great collection there. Have fun and Happy Birthday 🎉
Thanks for the kind words man! Can't go wrong with Ludwigs, I have never owned them but I hear great things on them and they have rich history! Also yeah in the 80s they made drums way bigger it seems! Even my other tama kit I bought used was from 2005, and the toms were bigger than the ones they make on average now. I really dig this kit, my wife wasn't thrilled about another kit but she supports my passion. Cheers dude and happy drumming 🤙🥁😎
I have 4 kits right now too and like 7 snares. I have a Yamaha absolute hybrid, Yamaha stage custom, a Sonor sq1 and an 80s Tama granstar. I love them all but I really don’t need everything. I’m in the same boat as you lol, I have way too much stuff right now and need to clear it out a bit.
@@T.Maximus it’s a good mix, if I’m going to get rid of one it’s probably the stage custom. The granstar is probably my favorite, it’s the cherry rose finish and it looks amazing. I’m gonna upload a short of it on my channel, I’ll give you a follow for a follow!
I just bought the 7 piece kit and love these shells. And once you get some good heads you will be amazed how much better they sound. The snare is the weak link in this series and I have tried lots of tricks, heads, gels, rings, dots but can’t get it to sound good to me. That’s how I came across you I was looking for what other people do with this 6.5”x14” snare.m are doing. You should get a pad and work on your rudiments. Let the sticks do more work.
Awesome, the 7 piece looks great too! I got a 7 piece yamaha set as well. And I got new heads for the tama kit I'm gonna set it back up soon. Cheers thanks for checking my vid out!
@@qwe1231 honestly, the tamas are 650 dollars cheaper than the tour customs(if you get the snare with the tour customs)and is on par with them quality wise! Both are maple, and sound really good. I would recommend the tamas if you are wanting to save more money, but the yamahas if you prefer yamahas hardware and look. Either way, both are solid kits. I really love the finish alot on the tama kit, they are gorgeous.
@rjeezy891 nice, I'd like to get the 8 inch rack tom added on. Can't find it anywhere online though..anyway I have that exact same head on one of my snares, sounds great!
Your not crazy. I've had all the kits. I finally got down to one kit a gretsch USA custom 4 pc. I also just picked up the yamaha stagd custom surf green snare like yours its great.slso have the steel stage custom snare. Your yamahs drums are the best bang for the buck. Your tama superstars are a nice kit. Looks like your all set. Bang on brother
I love your Tama kits bro! 💯🤘🤘🤘🤘😁
@lonnienorton. I'm blessed man thanks!! Your kit is sick too!

They look and sound sweet! You can’t go wrong with Tama. I’ve had a vintage Superstar kit (in natural too) for years and still love them.
@@tb7077 awesome n thank ya!!
If i may give you some advice. I would loosen the snare wires a bit. There really tight now. Unless that is what you like. Tama rules 🤘🏻
@@JonneDrums thanks! N yes I do like them a bit tight(very tight lol) rn. I may experiment a bit though n try that too, appreciate the feedback!

gee wiz, beautiful.
Curious how you compare it to the Yamaha Tour Custom you did video of. Yamaha is like 40% more expensive but they seem equivalent in specs.

they sound great even with stock heads

@@josephandrachick1774 appreciate that!
You're like me, you're buying too many drums, then you end up having nice stuff sitting around not being used.
I plan on giving a set to my nephew when he's older
You got to cut out the little “sound hole” in the base head bud. Makes ALL the difference in the world.
@MonsterMetalManiac thanks for the advice, I've been thinking of trying that!
To be honest, I'm kinda scared of fucking up my bass head doing that..lol
@@T.Maximus It HAS to be done. You’ll thank me later
Why do you have so many kits?
@tjblackmore7863 I like a variety. I'm somewhat of a collector so having just 1 set is fine, I'm crazy though...it's the collector in me.
