THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THE SHERPA SHORTS IN THERE, I got these shorts for $15 at my local running store and they're amazing. It's like the only short that has a side pocket for your phone that fits super well! Overall, I love it!

Ran Moab 1/2 marathon trail run this year, must have gear was Salomon vest, Skratch hydration and energy chews, and Hoka Speedgoat shoes. Resealable bags critical for nutrition on course.
Love my TNF summit vectiv pros! Went on a short 3 miler with them and didn’t want to stop! They feel like a more snappy, responsive racier version of my speedgoats, so excited to run my first ultra in them at the end of January! Keep up the great work ginger runner really could not be happier with the videos you pump out 💪

Thanks for the video Ethan! Just wanted to ask you about the durability of the Vectiv Enduris 3: many people say they last only a hundred km, how much did your pair last before the outsole lugs gave out?? They’re super cool and (maybe) they’ll be my next pair of shoes :)

Great video as always. I personally loved the Topo Athletic MTN Racer 3 this year. Great (Vibram) grip, durable and so comfortable.
Those were my go-to for fastpacking all summer, definitely getting a fresh pair next year.
Curious what you'd think of some of Tracksmith's apparel / gear. Some of my personal favorites (albeit on the expensive side - but holding up well over the years)
I tried Skratch for the first time on a long run. I REALLY had to add in small amounts so it mixed well. I overdid it on dumping in the mix and it clogged my straw lol
Yeah man! Love your gear of the year videos! I’ve also been loving the VECTIV Enduris shoes - I specifically bought them since I’m a commercial photographer - and I wanted a single pair of shoes that I could wear in the airport/on set, and while I get a run-in wherever I’m filming. They handle way better on the trail but I’ve actually put some miles in them on the road and they felt nice, surprisingly - even though they’re not my daily trainers. Thanks again for all you do with your videos and all the work you put into them.

I'd really like to see some consideration of sustainability in this list. Performance is important, but quality and environmentally friendly is better.
How about you be considerate and keep highly politicised matter out of people's pastimes and let them enjoy life a little.

Love this episode. Well done. One word of caution. I love the flavor of Bobo's as well, but there is one problem for me with strawberry filling in particular. Strawberries are on the dirty dozen list for pesticide residue. IMHO, one should only be eating organic strawberries to limit pesticide ingestion. Happy gut = happy trails.

I have been waiting oh so long for this. Have used this as a resource for buying several things in the past. Most notably The North Face Ventrix hoody. I think you should have a new category next year...best item you've continued to used from past gear of the year reviews to present day. Thank you for this wonderful tradition!

I love rabbit’s FKT shorts- the perforated section of fabric helps keep things cool on hot days. They offer both boxer and brief linings for the mens…

Dunno if you have tired tracksmith but their shorts put the sherpas to shame (I have both). Yes they are stupid expensive but I can’t tolerate any liner but theirs now and they last much longer than the sherpas.

Those two are pretty close so I’d say whichever you get cheaper 😊. But I’d probably still lean Enduris for the added upper structure

I got the Caldera 6 after your video and I couldn’t be happier! For roads, probably the Ghost Max. That shoe has no right being as good as it is

I figured it out, you’re gonna be making your own line of Jorts. You’ve been working with either like Nike or Lululemon and Levi’s so that you have the perfect blend of materials it won’t shave but it still looks like real denim shut off shorts

Great list. Going to pick up one of those waist belts for sure. The Novablast is a strange one for me... so much love for it but it just didn't work for me at all.
The belts are okay provided you don't get your nuts caught in the clasp. I was at an aid station this summer and when I was packing up I caught my nuts in the clasp.

I‘m surprised that the Endorphin Elite made it into the list. It was a „WHY“ when you reviewed it. I like it a lot as it is a more stable super shoe

Suoer surprised you've put up Nike shoes on this list. My local running stores are dropping the Nike brand altogether since their shoes are outdated and there's no demand except for the carbon super-shoes.

@@TheGingerRunner Weren't the Zegama's on your list last year? Regardless, they're great shoes on non-technical terrain, not too dissimilar from the NB More Trails. Only downside is the lack of Vibram which I think changes in the next model.
@cyruse7027 My personal issue with Nike is mostly that the midsole in the vast majority of their shoes is uninspiring, and their outsole doesn't last nearly as long as it used to.
The Nike Pegasus 32 was an amazing shoe for me. I has 4 pairs and put about 800 miles on all of those pairs. The last Peg I tried was the 38 and I had to bin that after 400 miles with a worn-through outsole.
Just bought the Vectiv enduris 3 in sale. Will see how good it is in 2024.

Asics fujispeed 2's really aren't getting the love they deserve. They put all the other plated shoes to shame in he grip/lug department and give great propulsive feel.
Dear Ethan, do you use the future fleece top as a base layer or an outer layer with a base under it? What temp ranges do you use it for yourself?
I use it solo - 35-60°F. If colder than freezing, I’ll put a jacket over top
Brooks Caldera 6 isn’t better than the New Balance X More Trail Version 3 ?
I was mixed on Caldera, while I really did enjoy it, the more trail was just in rotation more consistently. New Caldera looks sick though

A disagree and a massive agree. For me the disappointment of the year was without a doubt the Novablast 3. Haven't tried the 4 yet and probably won't. It is nowhere near as comfy, soft or bouncy as expected.
The Enduris 3 is an absolutely brilliant shoe. A perfect mix of fit, midsole and grip. I would like longer studs but thats just a personal preference.
The Infinite might offer a bit more tooth length for ya!
