#nodigday #nodig #nodiggardening @terrykingsallotmentgardening @CharlesDowding1nodig @notillgrowers Our take on no-dig gardening and how we've used it so far as new gardeners.
Thanks Peggy !! Always fun to try new stuff and see what works and what doesn't!! The lack of weeds is a big selling point for us, especially Colleen's Mom !! Have a great weekend!! Cheers J&C 🌱🤞👍😊🇺🇸
Thanks so much my dear friends for giving me so much great information and tips always enjoy watching a great garden channel. Thanks for all the encouragement you give to all of us. Hugs and kisses from grandma, Sandy, and Debbie.
Ahhh, that's awesome!! So many different and fun ways to do it. No right or wrong way which makes it soooo much fun !! Have a great week! Cheers J&C 🌱🤞👍😊🇺🇸
Me to !! She and her Mom's view was a really cool perspective to hear. It was a fun thing to try, and we'll see if no cardboard works 🤞 Have a great weekend brother!! Cheers J&C 🌱👍🤞🤠🤜🤛
What wonderful strawberries you will have next year, they will thank you for making them such a wonderful bed to grow in. Strawberry plants are so resilient, I would be very surprised if they didn't make it.. Stay awesome you wonderful people...🐮🐮🐮
I started no-dig gardening a couple of years ago without knowing what it was and love that there’s no right or wrong way to do it. It’s so easy and everyone can adapt it to their personal circumstances. Like your mum, I love that I don’t have to weed much. Well done on your record no-dig bed., it looks great. Happy no-dig day!!!
That's so true! As long as you aren't digging, you're doing it right. I'm so glad there is something that makes gardening so much easier. Life can be hard enough! Happy no dig to you, my friend! Cheers Colleen
That will be a fantastic strawberry bed! Another creative use of what you have, and what you can do, to turn a patch of grass into a living soil, basically for free. If I had a roll of plastic I would fashion a row cover to protect the berries and cover crop a little while longer, just a thought. Great Video, hope the strawberries make it. Stay Well!!!!
Ahhh, thanks, Brian !! Great idea, and thankfully, our temps have risen a bit :) It'll be fun to see if no cardboard has any affect, good or bad 🤜🤛 Have a great weekend!! Cheers J&C 🌱🤞👍🤜🤛🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Cardboard is just a carbon source, wood chips are better, it will be fine. who needs cardboard? lol I meant clear plastic, I figured you knew that. Stay Well !!!!@@clivesconundrumgarden
No dig, sounds great! I've heard of it before, but it was not explained as good, I love all the research you've done to pass along to us! I'm now inspired! Thank goodness, I'm not in an HOA area, so I can do whatever I want 😅, great idea planting strawberries there! Looking forward to seeing it develop!😊
No dig is the way to go in my personal opinion too. I do absolutely love raised bed gardening & I fill my beds kind of like a no dig, hugelkulture/,compost bed. I do hope one day the ground here will be suitable for in ground gardening once all the mulch breaks down. Strawberries really do seem to love woodier soil/mulch. The HOA composting beds were brilliant. Awesome video guys 🖤
Hey thanks Rebecca, I just left a comment on your video about an additional benifit of raised beds !! We have 7 here, and Colleen's Mom wants more lol !! 🤞on the strawberries!! Have a great weekend!! Cheers J&C 🌱🤞👍🤜🤛😊
Nice. Another bed ready for spring. I converted the sweet corn bed this year to a new raised bed. 4x24 ft, 9.25 inches tall. Made from 2x10s. Much like what you are doing, it is no dig. Cardboard covered by leaves/grass clippings and soon, horse manure and finished Johnson Su compost. I ended up tarping a 5x28 ft bed in the fenced in area because it had bind weed coming up everywhere. I will leave it tarped until late spring then see how it's doing.
Ahhh, cool !! Luckily we don't have much bind weed but I'm sure you'll have a ton less in the spring, Steve!! Looking forward to seeing the new beds too !! Just got back from St.Louis!! Have a great rest of the weekend!! Cheers J&C 🌱🤞👍🤜🤛🇺🇸
If you watch Huw Richards he says the best way is the way that works for you and I agree. I like raised beds because they seem to take up less room. It having said that it is not as easy to top them up if the soils doesn’t settle as much. I have more tree seedlings than weeds but I don’t dig a lot as well. Great update kiddos looks like a lovely sunny day 🥰 stay safe 🇨🇦🥰🇺🇸
Exactly, Ali !! It was a really difficult first year trying to "copy" what I saw on the internet. Once we started putting our twist on stuff and experimenting, I was hooked!! Have a great weekend!! Headed to St Louis tomorrow:))) Cheers the kiddos !! 🌱🤞👍🇨🇦🇺🇸😊
I see you have expanded your growing area again 😊 I was saying to someone earlier today it should be called minimal soil disturbance gardening but that doesn't slip off the tongue as easy as no dig/no till 😂 Take care 😊
We should just abbreviate it. MSD. That works! Just read an article from a no-dig gardener on Sprout. She's finding that the pest pressure is really hard with no dig, so they have tilled this year to see if it makes a difference next year. No point in growing food if the bugs eat all of it. Cheers Colleen
Thats beautiful guys. I personally love and enjoy no dig bed.😊its funny my husband juat notice that im expanding the backyard.he saw a cardhoard laying down akong my beds and he ask ,are espanding the garden? 😅
🤣 awesome Faye !! You won't have much grass left soon :)))) Just love the lack of weeding required with this method to !! Have a great rest of the weekend!! Cheers J&C 🌱🤞👍😊🇨🇦🇺🇸

Jason told me today about his plans for composting this winter. I think he's been emboldened by his success. Cheers, Colleen
Happy no dig day. I loved colleens opening speech, think the bed will be great by the spring time, so easy to make. 👍🤠❤️💪

Happy no dig day and great to see another bed created from general waste and in the absense of being able to compost, a great experiment.
Thanks Mike !!
Fun thing to try and we'll see if no cardboard comes back to "bite us" lol.
