Looks to be a great jacket for a sunny stroll. What a review!
Well presented Liam. The problem with seam sealed jackets is that the seams are not breathable so if you measure up how many seams have been sealed it can add up to 25 to 30 % of the total jacket material that doesn't breath. Arcteryx addressed this problem years ago but now a lot of other brands have followed suit. Personally i go for a packable goretex 2 sizes up so i can just have the sleeves hanging down which keeps the wind and rain off my hands if i am not wearing gloves without doing up the velcro cuff straps and when its windy the jacket will fill up and allow air to circulate which helps with condensation management. At the end of the day it doesn't matter how much you spend or what brand you settle for ...NOTHING will keep you bone dry if you are hiking in the rain for extended periods.
Thanks Olan, that makes sense, guess i’d have to make sure I keep the armpit vents as open as I can to keep it ventilated.
I’ll only take this when rain is forecast or actually raining.
If its a clear day i’ll just take my OMM smock as its 95grams so its ultralight ( but not breathable what so ever! )
So what jacket do you recommend, I want very packable, lightweight, breathable and as waterproof as possible
@@GoodBlokeOutdoors Based on my personal experience thats cost me a lot of money over the years my ME Garwal ( i think thats what its called ) has performed better than my Arcteryx Beta AR and that is during all 4 seasons and there is a 350 quid price difference there. I either use shorts most of the time or Rab Kinetic trousers if i am mostly around camp or walking flats or down hill for long periods if its a bit nippy You have to find what works for you at the end of the day but i still have lots of different types and despite what i said about the seems i have been using the OMM Kamlieka for the past 6 weeks but its not really rained for long enough periods for me to measure how good it really is but so far so good because it works and feels good with just a base layer and it doesn't make that crinkly annoying sound as do a lot of jackets. Good luck and fingers crossed the way you are growing and producing and presenting your great channel you will start being sent freebies . you deserve it :)
Whatever jacket you use you if you hike or run in it during wet or cold conditions you will be wet from the inside due to condensation.. Never found one to overcome this problem yet. Wether it be goretex, event, or pertex. Sometimes wonder wether it's worth wearing one to be honest.
Great video Liam and a nice jacket too.
Ask the company to send some of their waterproof trousers. You'll need them!
A lot of the jackets are very good, but in my opinion the best is helly hansen lifa infinity pro
Good Lad. We love yer chirpy northern ness 😊. Had some columbia gear and it's been no worse or better than other gear but the prices have always been more competitive than other big brands for same performance. All the best and FTT. Always🇬🇧. And a cool free jacket is exactly what it is, thank you columbia.🙏
Great vid . Looking for a new waterproof so this may be the next purchase
Good choice!👌🏼
How about the hood? It looks like the front of the hood is not adjustable and on the pics online it looks flappi in the wind. Thanks for the review.😊
Cheers from denmark.
Great Review bud! Great vid mate love the zip tests 😅🙌🏻
Gotta do a decent zip test mate 👌🏼
Great review Liam, fair play.👍
Thanks Alan 😊👍🏼
Great review mate 👍 you are a great ambassador for any brand 👌 take care and God bless you mate 🙏🙏😊
Thanks mate 👍 take care
I love the reviews mate, love the format you went for and the editing, the hard work is worth it!
I also just love gear reviews as much as hiking/camping videos 😂 keep working at the level you're working at and you'll get exactly where you want to be pal! You've inspired me so much already Through your content, I can't thank you enough!
Mind you, 210 notes for a jacket is too steep for me 😏
Keep smashing it mate!!!
Thanks matey, yeah it is pretty steep, some gear is just proper expensive these days!
Great vid. Gonna get this jacket. Do you mind me asking what shorts you are wearing? Thanks in advance
Great review looks a nice bit of kit mate
Thanks Graham
Yeah that's enough zip tests 😂 columbia stuff is always good quality. Like the armpit zips. Definitely a good thing
Certainly is mate, make a big difference to release some of that heat!
Walking out of the cyber monday sale with $400 worth of gear for $9 because of Columbia's warranty service is amazing.
Gorgeous jacket, brilliant review!
Ps. Strong zip that brother hahaha.
Thanks
Works for hot hot summer??? 80-90 degrees???
Good review mate! Love the videos you make keeps me laughing at times. What’s your general opinion on the jacket? I’m thinking about getting it, there’s so many options on the market. Cheers mate
Really decent mate, love the arm pit zips for when you need to breathe a bit more in it. Thanks for watching mate.
Hi mate, what is it like during slightly warmer UK weather?
Hi there. Great video and cool looking jacket. I am looking for something like that for winter months in Ireland. How doeas this jacket looks from wormth point of view? I’m normaly worm most of the time and i wouldn’t wear like puffer jackets as i would sweat to death so i’m looking for something thin but warm that would battle wind and rain and temps up to maybe -5 celsious? Any advise would be great. I was also looking at Columbia’s Delta Ridge Down Hooded Jacket. What do you think guys? Kind regards. Bart.
Never really tested it on its own in the cold as I always use a layering system, usually hike with a thin base layer and then a lightweight fleece if its cold and a waterproof over the top if its raining.
Great review
Thanks Shaun
Nice jacket 👍
I think so too mate!
@@GoodBlokeOutdoors I got my self a Columbia down jacket last winter brilliant jacket good price aswell there gear is top notch 👍
snug as a bug in a rug ...i mean jacket haha :P
Hahaha ayee
Better than the Patagonia torrentshell 3L?
For a rain jacket, I’ll always go Patagonia. I bought one five years ago and they replaced it free of charge when I requested a new size.. a brand new jacket just cause I wanted a size down five years later. Columbia wouldn’t do that. Rain gear is an investment.
Patagonia are brilliant and that sounds like excellent customer service 👍🏼
I run ultra marathons, in bad weather , would you say this would be good to wear on a lomg run
This is good for hiking in non stop rain but No i think this would feel too heavy on you and too warm for running.
i’d prefer to use the OMM Halo smock for anything fast paced 👍🏼
brilliant cheers. Has to be sealed seams by the rules of the race. In the bywlch mountains the weather is insane so have to have everything covered
Is it mosquito proof.... you need that after the mossy Valley!!
Looks smart
Its decent mate
What shorts do you use am struggling to find a good pair
these are just some basic shorts from tesco mate, but they are lightweight and have zip pockets, but my main shorts that I wear are by OMM but they don’t have pockets so can be quite annoying
Stick with your camps man, forget reviews, you’re getting drawn in by these companies, if you’re getting freebies fair enough but I prefer your early stuff, if I’m wrong fair play
Aye i know what you mean mate but it doesn’t effect the camping vids.. This is an extra video that is 4 minutes long to receive over £300 worth of free products, its the least i deserve when i spend every spare minute editing. Not easy when I work a full time job mate, RUclips pays peanuts so these extra perks are too good to turn down. Also if you go back to beginning of my channel last year, I did a lot more gear review videos than I do now. Thanks for watching though mate 👍🏼
@@GoodBlokeOutdoors nice one, I know there’s loads of editing to do which I never thought about until now, fair play to you. Love all your vids, keep em coming, love watching them👍
What brand of shorts?
Most comments on here are bollocks.Cut the crap.We can see through product placement.
