  • The questions that sparked this video were around using a pipe beveling machine for pipe fence. However, I thought this would be a good chance to talk about the beveling machine in general, so you the ins and outs as well as a demonstration so you can see it in action. Watch this video for how to use a beveler, info on barrel torchs, band and crawlers, and the pipe beveler.

    Did you know that Ridgid tools makes a mechanical beveling machine? Works great on pipe as well as plate. I've never personally used one but have seen it used. It's fast to set up, easy to use and gives a real smooth finish so you don't have to do any finish grinding.

    I'm sure you have noticed that sometimes when you first start cutting slag will be left on the inside of the pipe and when you finish the cut it will cause a blowout on the inside of the pipe. to prevent this, when you start your cut move the torch the opposite direction for a short bit ,then quickly reverse and run back thru, clearing the under side of any slag.

    The factory bevel is 37.5 degrees on pipe.

  • @fztfabs65
    @fztfabs65 Год назад

    I have the same beveler as you, so when you set it at 60 on the bridge. Is that an included angle? So 30° for each pipe? Or is your cut coming out at 60° bevel?

    • @arosswelding
      @arosswelding  3 года назад

      I am not sure… I am pretty sure I have seen a magnet situation that helps you lay out a certain saddle on a certain size of pipe but I do not know about a beveling machine that does such.

  • @graham1188
    @graham1188 3 года назад

    Off topic question. Do you by chance know why, when welders build tub rigs, some put the welder directly behind the back window sitting sideways in the truck bed, and some put it in the center facing out the back. Is it for easy access to the controls on the welder, or weight distribution over the axles, or some other reason I'm unaware of?

    • @arosswelding
      @arosswelding  3 года назад +1

      From what I know it is just personal preference. Or personal situation. Some people want the back of their bed more clear for space to hall things. And some like it in there long ways that way it is easier to work on.
