I love the basics of this video, if you are looking for ideas, I am a hobby farmer, so a step by step video on what you do and why you do it, is awesome for people like me.

Awesome, thank you! Maybe you should start a YT channel as a hobby farmer? Thank you
Just subbed to you. I'll take a look

Good progress on spraying the plots. Hopefully you'll have good results soon with the herbicide and fertilizer applications.

Surfactent makes the spray stick to the plant. I use it when i spray Clethodim.

Really need to break that big field down into compartments and design for deer movement. Be something to plan and think about for next year after you get all settled in. Like we did on your Illinois farm, it made a big difference. I would have areas of native regen, eliminate the fescue by spraying later before it goes dormant and then disking the areas you want in native regen early spring and let natural forbs come up then let it grow. Plant areas of RC big rock switchgrass in other teas for field cover and bedding and also consider large destination plot then smaller plots in other areas, larger than a micro-plot.

Yeah I might try to replicate IL what we did. But the hay farmer might not like it lol. Also depends on MO cost shares what I might do. Meeting with the DNR next week, they have a lot of wildlife cost shares, way more than IL. Hope all is well. Getting tired of moving, lol

I also saw a lot of milk weed in your plot, which once it blooms attracts butterflies and other insects which helps to polinate the flowers for growth, have you tried to add any flowering plants near your plots to help the pollination. I have a row next to a small plot I have and I always have tons of insects helping the pollination....just food for thought

I'm meeting with the DNR next week on wildlife program cost shares. So we'll see what they have for quail habitat, pollinators and deer! Should be interesting!

I go along my fences with RM 43 and it works very well. I managed to accidentally kill a tree which my wife isn't happy about. I have a tree that died up by the fence and neighbors property but my concern is the power lines just overhead and if I did cut it it looks like it will fall and get hung up in the oak tree near by. Maybe wait to see if in time part of it falls.

Hey Mr K wondered if you could explain why you spray off all the grass etc as Glyphosate destroys all the root structure therefore reducing organic soil content 🤔 does direct drilling not allow the planted seeds some extra cover to germinate and grow 🤔 these comments are based on agricultural practice and just curious about your method 🤔 great video 👍

You are right that no till drilling is probably the best method. But I don't have one just yet so I will still do old school tillage. And you have to k i ll off the competition, in this case the hay field areas as the more weeds you have the more it robs what you are trying to grow for a food plot. I'm hoping to have a drill someday for sure. Thanks
