I've been a fan of kpop on/off since 2009, I didn't know people's standards became so low that YG's artist became a threat by just performing what they usually do.
Just link them what bigbang do on music shows whenever this "overperform" accusations comes up.

As a YG Stan since 2010, their performance was definitely not overperforming.. sorry if our standards are different, but we're used to that kind of performance from their seniors. I've watched your reaction video of BIG MAMA, fyi they are actually one of the first generations of YG. Before the debut of BABYMONSTER, YG planned to make a young version of BIG MAMA which is a vocal-focused group, but I think they changed it because it would be a waste if they didn't show their dancing and rapping skills as well, but I hope for their next comeback they will have a song that will showcase more of their vocals, maybe not as great as BIG MAMA, but I hope they can show it in their own style. I've watched all their stages live and I have to say it was an amazing experience. They started timidly and they started to get even MORE monster. I'm sorry but the last 2 performances were performed like POWERHOUSES. Especially their last one, they all got into it so much. Like Ruka growled at one point....AMAZING performance. Nobody in 5th gen can rival their stage presence (ok maybe kiss of life can, I love them sm). Anyways tldr, they stunned me.

Ruka especially looks and sounds like a tiger on the prowl. You don't normally associate rappers as power vocalists but Ruka just comes in really hard.

I personally don't think overperforming is a word cuz when you are performing on stage you must always do your best... There's no terms of overperforming it just they keep the YG traits & quality in terms of live performance wise going.. And no to those people who are saying this is how 2nd gen performance coz this kind of performance are always signature/trademark of YG.. It's how BIGBANG & 2NE1 changing the whole perspective of K-pop's live performance stereotypes back then.. And it continued with WINNER to iKON until now.. What boy group that has the best live performance now if it's not TREASURE.. BABY MONSTER just brings back 2NE1's energy to today's K-pop.. Yes, Kpop in general is really adapting to YG qualities in terms of production & performance when live but YG artist will always have their own signature/trademark when performing those natural aura, attitude, mannerism, stage presence, confidence, comfortable and just know how to handle the stage/crowd..
Please BABY MONSTER didn't perform like what 2nd nor 3rd gen but they perform like what YG artist are always known for.. It just Kpop in general adapting to YG style yet YG artists keep showing the difference between the original and adapter..
It's those 'carefree' elements that have been YG's roots actually that do wonders.. So their artists already have those chill, self expression & fun behaviour while being committed and serious on stage at the same time.. And 'improvise' too another YG's main traits..

For the people that they're saying "overperforming" havent actual seen a real performance yet. They called it overperforming cuz all they're getting feed from their favs are just full of dancing performance but that lacks of vocal stability and stage prescense ✨✨✌🏻. To me it isnt overperforming, it's a performance where each members showcase their talents to prove from haters. And if babymonster isnt "overperforming" then yall will call them "lazy" or a "dozen".
