Thank you SO MUCH for doing these videos! I actually heard the overtone/harmonic scale in my voice today for the first time after watching your first video. So exciting!!! Now I will watch your other videos of how to amplify the overtone and even try to make a melody with it like you and Anna-Maria Hefele can. You are a very good teacher.
Your technique is awesome! Totally superior to all the other tutorials out there. I started practising yesterday and I can now produce beautiful harmonics. Thank you. I'm going to keep practicing...

Hi Miroslav, I am getting good resonance on all the notes you sang except the one at 4:13 (the highest one). I have tried every E vowel mouth shape and tongue positions but I just can not get a good sustained resonance. Sometimes it even sounds like my fundamental will go out of pitch when trying to resonate that note. It seems even when I try hard to put strain on the E vowel mouth shape, I end up getting a slightly higher note instead. What would you suggest I try?
A bio hack for overtone singing is raw food and drinking more clear water for a while. I really makes a difference if someone eats meat or vegetarian. Also sugar limits the overtones you can sing.
Fantastic! As a fiddler and lifelong Jew's harp player I was looking into overtone singing to complement my harp playing. I like to play fiddle tunes on harp, don't see much of that. Wow, that last piece was incredible. Sure sounds like the Irish jig, "Red Haired Boy" Never imagined overtoning fiddle tunes, have to work on that concept.. Thanks for the lesson & inspiration - now its off to the tool shed to practice. .
Picturing a laser coming out of your mouth during the overtones made this video hilarious. By the way thanks for these, started producing the overtones fairly quickly, just trying to master the individual jumps is hard.
Thanks for posting these videos!! :-) I actually got my first overtone :-)I tried several videos, but your tips is the ones that helped me understand :-)
@michelecobb2 there are only differences in the range of overtones you can sing as a women. there are few less because of the length of the vocal folds. I know female overtone singers with a amazing sound singing overtones, so I would like to encourage you to use this challenge to extend your possibilities. PS: if you need support, skype is available ;-)
Before I practice more, I have a question, once this becomes a natural and easy way to sing, is it still easy to sing in a "normal " way or will overtone singing become the default of one's vocal chords?
you can easily switch between all the different singing styles, no worry ;-) AND singing overtones helps and supports the voice in general so that there will be a benefit for EVERY other singing technique because of the better listening on sound details as a basis for controlling and optimizing the vocal sound. Also the finest muscles are trained well through overtone singing. Additionally singing harmonics will calm your mind and reduce any stress in body, mind and voice. So you also can use it directly before a performance as a tool to prepare for your best singing ever...
Hey Miroslav: can you explain in greater detail what you did at 2:35 of the video? It seemed to amplify your overtones greatly. I can get some overtones but they're not consistently loud. Also how come it is easy to get overtones a third apart, but difficult to get one a second apart? i.e (if i sing a C overtone the next higher one i can do is an E, and G and so on, but many notes are missing.)

+MiroslavGrosser I'm going to piggyback on these tips. Thank you! I've been noticing this effect in meditation and mantra, but I thought it was just my imagination, so I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this tutorial! Many many thanks _/\_
Melody Ann My hint: go back to the basic technique, how I described in my video clip "How to sing Overtones Part 1/2". This amplifying technique is the second step after becoming able to perceive, hold and control the harmonics in your vocal sound. So I wish you good luck and success!
yes, for this specific exercise the tounge stays to amplify the overtones, but for filtering overtones this position is not necessary. you can do it also without the special position of the tip of the tongue on the roof. The reason for using the tongue that way is to create an extra resonance chamber under the tongue to build a so called double resonator to extra amplify a specific overtone frequency. Good Luck and have fun!
hi thanks for the videos :) i tried but i only get a tiny little overtone and a loud base tone (normal voice) :( ive listened to mongolia recordings before where the base tone is barely noticable.... how do you do that?? thanks!!
when i am singing overtone, i actually roll my tongue as when i am saying "r". it produces overtone but i cant control the pitch. any tips? danke schoen :)
It seems the "L" technique is very helpful that he mentions here. I may however be going to one of Hefelers online courses to see if she has any other suggestions for amplification.
Para luis perez en caso de ke lo necesite, la lengua en mi caso debe ir pegada a los molares superiores y con la punta le das el tono y no se tensa es solo para la vibracion, es como aprender a silbar aunke tus amigis digan ke estas loco
if you check the descripition of my Video "How to sing Overtones" you will find a list with tips... And I would like to add: repeat repeat repeat every day every day every day...Good Luck!
Do you keep your tongue relaxed when doing these exercises??? I have just discovered this type of singing and am already producing beautiful sounds. I just need to learn control :) These videos are wonderful and very helpful.
that's fantastic! I've just come across Huun Huur Tu on here and I'm amazed, intrigued and lots of other words....I've noticed, though, that there are not many examples - on youtube - of females using this vocal technique. Is it easier etc. for men or just less usual for women? I've always been a singer 'of sorts' but I'm getting older and, to be honest, a little bored and would like a new challenge. Basically, what I am asking is: will it be harder to master because of my gender?
I can do the overtones, & they're quite faint, but when I place my tongue in the L position I lose all overtone sound. I've tried placing my tongue in many different ways on the roof of the mouth. I've been practicing for 2 weeks, & I can't seem to get anywhere with it. I won't give up, but I can't shake the feeling I'm doing something wrong.
Munchchewy0 so much passion should bring more success and fun for you, so I recommend to go back to the basic technique and improve the quality means clarity and volume of the overtones first. in my experience not every style fits to every person. Perhaps you will find another one which works better. I showed one here in my Channel called Gong-Technik but only in german. Try this one also. Or you book an individual session with a teacher in your region. Or a skype session with me which costs 1Euro per minute. You will find my name miroslavgrosser (Berlin) on skype. Wish you good luck with your singing
Thank you for the feedback, I will definitely heed your advice! I wanted to learn the khoomei way of overtone, but I can't seem to find any good tutorials on that. When my next paycheck comes around I'll video you on skype. Cheers! :)
so when you go from the oo to the ee vowl you go through all the overtones? using the tongue cupped to the roof of your mouth you can amplify the overtones. do you need to start with a bigger chamber (created by the tongue cup) when your in the oo vowel and bring the tongue back making the chamber smaller as you go to ee. or do you keep your tongue in the same place throughout and just adjust the vowel shape? thanks for any help :)
we have to distinguish here 1. the filtering technique through the vowels AND 2. the amplifying technique with the tongue. We can filter the harmonics without the help from the tip of the tongue (try to hold it with the teeth and then sing the vowels so good as possible, you will hear overtones!) The visible part of the tongue for amplifying the filterted overtone changes the position with the change of an overtone, because it is a new frequency with another geometry needed for the perfect amplification. But the lower part of the tongue deep in your throat is responsible for the perfect filter. So you can practise both...
MiroslavGrosser ah i see! i thought that the vowel sounds were created by lip movement rather than the bass of the tongue. thanks for clearing that up!
in my experience the highest overtones are coming, if we are open ourselves on a very deep energetic and personal level, but not through trying harder. Please figure out for yourself how to relax more and more, enjoy and appreciate every single overtone you reach and then let the intent go to reach more. Often I had really quantum leaps in the quality AND quantity of my overtones during meditation or holiday or without any explaination like a gift of grace... In this sense: Surrender! M.G.
can´t say it exactly, it is a question of trial and error. Just experiment with several positions and search for the best resonance experience. Hold the tongue not to fix, but flexible with the upper part on the roof of the mouth
I'm still practiceing, that's the best video i've ever watched. Thank you very much ! but I still can't pull out the pure whistle. Any additional advice? :)

hola .gracias por los videos .¿la lengua tiene que estar fija? ,o hay que moverla.¿ a cuanta distancia de los dientes?gracias.
hi thanks for the videos :) i tried but i only get a tiny little overtone and a loud base tone (normal voice) :( ive listened to mongolia recordings before where the base tone is barely noticable.... how do you do that?? thanks!!
Simple Gift!!!
That’s so awesome
Dankbar ~ Mahalo ~ Thanks for the personal lesson. LivingLightLOVE
ALOHA
@MiroslavGrosser Many thanks
when i am singing overtone, i actually roll my tongue as when i am saying "r". it produces overtone but i cant control the pitch. any tips? danke schoen :)
I've got to a standard point in 10 minutes of practice.
But i can't seem to get the overtone louder. So thank you for your advice
just check my answers in the other comments please. Good Luck!
2:15 this one works for me.i have a tounge tie does it affect it?
if you check the descripition of my Video "How to sing Overtones" you will find a list with tips... And I would like to add: repeat repeat repeat every day every day every day...Good Luck!
Amazing =)

Thank you for share with us ;-)
Do you keep your tongue relaxed when doing these exercises??? I have just discovered this type of singing and am already producing beautiful sounds. I just need to learn control :) These videos are wonderful and very helpful.
Yes, the tongue should stay relaxed, even if it is touching the roof of the mouth
I will practice
that's fantastic!
Brilliant - I've tried for months to throat sing and failed. 2 minutes listening to your videos and I can now do it !
I am happy for you!!! Have a lot of fun with your overtones now...
MiroslavGrosser ah i see! i thought that the vowel sounds were created by lip movement rather than the bass of the tongue. thanks for clearing that up!
i don't get the way I have to put my tongue in the top of my mouth
Very good !
in my experience the highest overtones are coming, if we are open ourselves on a very deep energetic and personal level, but not through trying harder.
Training. Meditating. Listening with all senses. Patience. Focussing. Relaxing :-)
@write2yibo its just practice and relaxation, you'll get it loud eventually
