  • I've tried so many lighting options for my craft corner as well as my videos, and found them all wanting. Will the Apexel FL25 LED Desk Lamp be the answer to all my problems? Well, maybe some of them, let's not get carried away.

    Ironically the daylight in this video is all over the place and making for some really janky cuts in the edit. At least that won't happen with my top-down shots anymore 😅

    Oh my goodness girl, yes! My husband hates the big light (we call it that too). He overreacts when I have to turn it on as if he's the Wicked Witch melting from The Wizard of Oz. 😂 We barely keep the lamps on either. I completely feel your pain, I just sit on the couch and stitch with my headlight on. I love watching your videos! Sending good vibes your way from Alabama in the States. ❤

    Yes, and in the U.S., "Allen Keys" are called "Allen Wrenches" or "Hex Keys". Where other wrenches grip the *outside* of nuts/bolts/lugs/etc to apply torque for tightening or loosening, "Allen Wrenches" or "Hex Keys" [aka: "Allen Keys"] fit *inside* specialized fasteners, often used in DIY furniture, for the same purpose. Here's to Autistic Honesty in Advertisement! Apexel just got more than they paid for, lol. Keep being amazing.

    This lamp looks great! I'll have to check the specs cause my side table at my couch has pretty thick bars I could attach this to, but I'm not sure it's big enough still... but I could definitely use it in my craft room! Why is good lightning so hard to find?! I'll go check this one out!

      Actually no, the biggest disagreement is that I butter bread with the back of a spoon and he thinks that makes me a heathen (try it before you judge!). But the Big Light thing is definitely up there 😂

    My house is generally dark dark dark so this is a handy video for when I next ponder lights (which I tend to do ONLY on rainy days when I have to record inside). Would also be great for the craft table though, I don't need a ton of light for weaving but for hemstitching I need more. I also caved a while ago and bought a neck light which I do use for hemstitching on weaving but it's useless for cross stitch or crochet unless I keep my upper body perfectly still and who does that?? It was great for power cuts with Mum though, could give her her own headlights while the rest of us dug out the candles!

    • @TheGiddyStitcher
      @TheGiddyStitcher  5 месяцев назад

      I am very much also a wriggler so the neck light was functional but yeah, adjusting it all the time and trying to get it to stay on my stitching but not reflect in the TV was annoying! Fair point about power cuts though, sometimes I worry about the power going out when I'm home alone (anxiety go brr) but you might have just fixed that particular worry for me 😅

  • @lorengodfrey234

    I have a thought about power supply. For those without a bunch of USB ports nearby, use a battery pack. The same kind used to charge a phone. Since LEDs draw so little power, the battery pack will likely last quite a while. The downside is remembering to charge it before you need it. It's not a perfect solution, but could be an option.
    P.S. Years ago my wife and I used to play WOW side by side as a couple. Good times.
    P.P.S. Noticed the steam deck there on the bookshelf. Very nice.

    Hi @TheGiddyStitcher! I have just come across this video and noticed your 3 clamp like (blue, pink and black) accessories on your fabric as you are embroidery. I have been searching for something to gather and hold my fabric on my frames as i like to work on larger projects but so far, my search has been fruitless. This could be because I am not sure what to search for. Can you advise what they are called and where I can purchase them from. Thank you!

    • @TheGiddyStitcher
      @TheGiddyStitcher  5 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely! The search term you want is "magnetic cable ties". The ones I have are all over places like Amazon and eBay, they're not massively strong but they're enough to hold a decent amount of fabric out of the way. If you were on a really big project you might need more hardcore ones :D

      The website reckons it'll attach to anything up to 2.36 inches thick. I've just measured it to check and that seems about right, it opens to slightly wider but of course you need to tighten it in place so yeah, let's go with 2.36" :D

    Technically I guess an Allen key is a kind of screwdriver more than anything else? I've always heard it called "Allen wrench" so that's what I usually call it lol "hex key" or "hex driver" is what it's supposed to be called I think but I almost never hear anyone use these terms lol

  • @christelbekkenkamp1667
    @christelbekkenkamp1667 5 месяцев назад

    Yeah we don't turn on 'the big light' in our living room, unless we're looking for something (not a fan of bright lights, probably an autistic thing). Did you know Lowery sells light brackets? You can fit the clamp on there (among other things, like a tablet holder).
