- A self-haircut for men is easier than you’d think! I’m stuck at home and my hair has been getting way too long. So I decided to give myself my first self haircut and show you how I did it. Sure, your wife, girlfriend or friend could cut your hair but why not take the time to learn how to self cut! I hope this haircut tutorial helps you men out there, even if this isn’t exactly the right way to do it.
The clippers I used today were by WAHL. Don’t ask me anything else about them because I still don’t know what the numbered brush things are called. They just help me not cut so much hair off.

Love the cut, and especially the color. I remember when you use to go solid black, and I found it made you look too hard.....But them few grays really softened your look, and has brought you to a total new handsome...JMO.
He is a silver fox now! Men look distinguished whole women age. Come to think of it women have it harder than men on a lot of areas.
I just tried it the same way , took me 1/2 hour , looks great . The fingers as a depth gauge was the answer . Thankyou .I did,nt use broken lamps btw .

i have bin cutting my hair sins i was 13. i am 51 now and i can cut it in less than 20 min . but you did a vary good job for a first timer. and think of all the $$ you can save LOL

You did a really good job all considered. You gave me the idea I can do it myself because I'm between stylists and I don't like the one I have where I am right now. I tried a little bit and I did okay but I'm going to buy a better set of equipment. For you I think don't go as short because you look good maybe with it less short. Also you have a face that can carry off any haircut.

I started learning how to cut my own hair before the first lockdown. When you do it enough times, it gets easier. You sort of "know your own head" if you like. Using scissors to cut the top is even easier, it's literally just cutting short what is too long. You'd be surprised how close to an actual proper barber's cut you can get, especially if your hair is already short, so it's easier to navigate.

He's right about starting with large numbers! The stacking thing made me LOL...half-way through I was wondering if he knew about the taper fade lever on the side. Each click forward gets it closer to another 1/8".

WHY am I reminded so much of the Mr Safety vids of yore? BTW, off topic, I just watched a video of yours featured on the Weather Channel. The laser ice video. It was SO nostalgic. For me, with far less hair, self cuts are pretty much straight forward. Mid numbers to small, plus over the ears, and the a razor for the stragglers.

Start on TOP with the highest cut !!!!!!
The only thing I can think of doing differently is that you (or Kristen) could point cut the hair afterwards with scissors, takes some of the fuzziness since the scissors cut cleaner/sharper. Otherwise it's pretty good and it suits you 👍

Nice job! Will be helpful for me - but my hair is starting much longer. Has not been cut since June last year, it's 5 - 6 inches long all over. I'm really going nuts with it in my face!
thanks for the update dude, you look good, pro tip from someone who's cut their husband's hair for years, get your wife to do the back, at least tidying up the neck parts, saves on getting gashed from the guides. Oh and if you check the website for the shaver you used there might be a pdf explaining the ear protector and the clips, if you really want to learn. **safe virtual hugs** from Seattle to you and yours.

Funny enough, since I ALWAYS go for the same length every so often, all I have to do is just be careful that the plastic bit of the shaver doesn't stab me. I can just run it all over my head a couple of times to get as much as possible, and then I'm done.

That was great! And funny! it's not just for men, of course. I cut my hair even shorter than yours in the summertime :) The fingers on the top of the head is smart, if you don't want to go down to an inch, or however long your biggest comb is. The back is always hard to get right. Try and get your wife to even that up. That's what I do :)
