    just found your channel and I've already watched 5 of them! You are an amazing family and the life education your children are receiving is invaluable. Keep safe, travel far and love each other and the excitement of what is around the bend.

      Thanks so much for being here! It's been a wild ride for sure, but I'm constantly impressed by my kids' ability to go with the flow. They don't stress, or get anxious, or have doubts, they simply live in the moment. Very inspiring!

      Thanks so much! The kids THRIVE on this kind of stuff, being out about has them endlessly curious and engaged in their world. Sitting at home has the opposite effect 😂
      Loving your story as well and can't wait to share it next 😬

    So weird that I was just learning about "true blue" in the plant kingdom and then this video has a whole segment on growing and harvesting indigo. Love the documentary style that these videos are taking!

      Haha what a coincidence! Blue is definitely a rare color in nature, it's kind of mind blowing to see the hues they are making out of indigo. It is honestly a bit surreal!

    Hey guys, can I ask you how you were able to get this apartment as a foreigner? Because it’s almost impossible to get one, most of them also have long term rental agreements(at least 1 year), when they’re so friendly to rent to foreigner on a tourist visa (assuming you are)? Anyway great content 🎉

    • @Slowsteading
      @Slowsteading  Год назад +2

      Thanks so much!
      We usually work with rental agents that specialize in working with foreigners. This way it's possible to get 3 month rental agreements. It's pretty much impossible to go through the Japanese agencies to find a suitable rental under one year. There are Facebook groups for the Tokyo and Osaka + their surrounding areas which are a great place to start.

    New subscriber here, I’m interested to see where you eventually end up on your search. Somehow I think you’ll be back to homesteading but in a more connected way with community & God. Life was meant to be lived connected with each other and to God too.
    IMO complete self sufficiency with no connections to others and especially to God through Jesus Christ is a lie and without Him nothing will quench that thirst or searching for the ‘other’ until you’ve met Christ Jesus. You’ll keep searching and searching & never reaching satisfaction. Being independent & separated from God & His creation involves lots of hard work that you just can’t keep up with day to day. It takes a lot of hard work which no one can keep doing until the very end when we die. I think that is what life is meant to show you….. you’re not alone and you can’t do it alone.
    I’m a bit of a homesteader too but not the romantic view because I understand and know we all need each other in some way, and we’re meant to live like that too. We should take care of each other. It makes me laugh when people think they can be completely self sufficient without anyone else or anything else, when they continue to use products that others have made or need the care of a doctor to mend bones. No one person can do it all. God has gifted us all with talents. Life is about LIVING in community, pulling your own weight, not taking what isn’t yours to take, and enjoying the life that God has gifted you with and coming into realization that you do need God in your life. In fact communities need God. I found that out 46 years ago. He is the ‘other’ you’re needing even when we don’t realize it. One day you’ll look up like I did and realize Christ Jesus IS what you’ve been searching for.

      You couldn’t have said it better! Savior is coming back soon. There’s so much work to be done all over the world and ways we can help others it wouldn’t be fair if we Al traveled and did what we wanted too all the time. I’m not saying that’s what they’re doing but I sure hope the Most High gets ahold of their hearts and leads them where he longs for them to be most to make a difference. It sure is cool to watch their journey though

    I really like the way your answer viewer questions...
    That's rare nowadays but it really shows you care and want to help other people. You will be successful!
    As for making money while there... my recommendation after living in Japan for many years, is, connections. Japanese people can take you from no income to really making a lot of money... The opps are endless too.
    I'm still acting as a medical research translator 32 years after meeting a doc on a train...
    Do things for free, get involved at the local community centre. Teach English for free there. It's Gold
