I counted 221 cars on that LLLOOONNNGG one, actually had to start over and watch a 2nd time to get the correct count. I see others posted with different counts, but I stand by mine!
I could see a couple Canadian geese on the concrete pillars of the bridge & hear them in the back ground. Nice catch of the second train passing by lucky those flat cars stoped when they did. Great video as always. Stay safe out there Mr Tooth & always a thumbs up from this viewer.
Yellow vest for crew, orange for engineer. I love that clacker. I can picture the whole production crew standing around shooting trains with the cat running the camera and Chessie directing.
@@JawTooth Orange is for trainees. NS is pretty much the only railroad that differentiates between CTs and Conductors via vest color. Whenever you see someone in an orange vest on the NS it's a Conductor Trainee. Now if you see MOW with orange stripes on the helmet, that is also a trainee.
The fellow in the lime colored vest is the conductor. The fellow in the orange vest with hard hat is the trainee. More than likely these men were relayed from the hind end of the train. First train must be a local since they have only one locomotive. Not like the old days when we had a hack on the hind end, head brakeman, rear brakeman (flagman), and conductor. Your videos are top notch!
Thank you for another video at the Mill Creek bridge in the Spring Green Valley/Winton Place Neiborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. All these trains were mixed freight trains, so we were treated to a variety of freight cars on these trains.
Love the old signals Nice some things aren't thrown away. I like listening to the conversations from the crew. Interesting video as usual liveaction! I can sympathize with the Huskies guy.the wind blew our gate open and our German Shepherd flew the coop. She had a good run and I got her back Hope he got his dogs back
Orange is for Conductor Trainees. Once you get marked up and become a proper Conductor you get your yellow vest. NS now has a thing where if you have less than 2 years seniority they want you to wear a specific vest that has orange ribbons on it for some reason.
But wait !!, there's more ....Howdy JT !! ....I Love when you say that . I live in Canada and came across your site a few weeks ago. You sure found a busy location to film trains .🤓❤ I watch as often as i can. So Long from Toronto Ontario - 5/3/23 🤠
Almost my longest. I had a coal train in West Virginia with just a few more cars. It had locos on the front, middle and end. Those are the trains that you hope dont break down. lol
Got to get them to sort out the schedules for you there! 4 times in a fortnight you've had trains passing. The longer one there was 221 cars and 5 loco's as accurately counted as I could. Gets a gut to getting cross-eyed after a while! That's the longest consist I've seen yet. Last longest I saw was 212 cars and 6 loco's a while back now. Something else. That Coil Train gave it some rip on its own there too. I hope those folks find their doggies. Nice one Jaw Tooth. Cheers!
Hey Jaw Tooth: Another great video here and seeing the trains going down the tracks throughout Ohio and Kentucky is really great. As always you show great trains moving down the tracks and great scenery around you as well Thank You and God Bless You Jaw Tooth. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
There are a few possibilities, it could be the engineer pulled the train out of the yard to the signal and then the conductor and trainee got on there, it could be a higher up and a trainee joining the regular crew, or it could be the new crew got on and the old crew is just along for the ride.
I "dug" that long train. I see that you like to read the details on the freight cars, and I like to read the numbers like names. Keep those trains rolling!
Freight coming and going. Oddball car was the 89' flat with steel plate marked LBR Lowville & Beaver River. You lucked out with the one Freight passing as the flat cars and gondolas we're going by plus you doing the pacing. Quite a few new cars out there today everything from tank cars to autoracks plus two types of coil in. One special item were the new NS\AOK gons but later one came by as pure NS with small lettering next to it stating United States Steel and their emblem. They are getting 1500 new cars with supposedly thicker and stronger steel. Luckily the mega train was not doing the stop-and-go up at the grade Xings. Poor Brandy and Sophie had that look of a kid disappointed with their birthday gift. Antlers? Theyre not tasty at all! 😮
How does a railroad or other organization that orders 1500 new cars take delivery of them, and how are they distributed to customers all over the country?
The long train was 3+132+2+89.. pretty long. I read once of a super long N&W coal train back in the day with 3-SD45s at the front, then 300 coal hoppers, then 3-SD45s, then 200 coal hoppers. I think that set a record.
Re: ~2:45 marker: I wonder if the engineman runs into a blind spot area as he approaches an overhead signal when the engine is running long-hood forward, given the top lateral overhang ventilation intake on the long hood... I suspect that this could occur well before he enters the next signal block and as such, this could be a violation of the Rules, as a Signal is supposed to be fully visible until the block that it governs is entered into. Any clarification would be appreciated. 2023/05/03. Ontario, Canada.
You are right. Running long hood sucks because you can't both see the signal as you get close to it so you just have to rely on the other. But as he approached it, he was probably able to see it was clear so if he really wanted to he could. Which depending on how you read the rulebook could be in violation of it, and it could not be. Technically you only need to see it once to be able to run on it, but you wouldn't be able to call it properly so there it gets a little iffy.
@@JawTooth 😂thanks Brian. i gonna sleep now, because i gonna visit Tony, thats why. i send yor greeting to here.😂 have a nice evening with yor familie so as useal.laterzzzz.😂
Those fleet numbers on the Rolling Stock have many uses, obviously asset management but also quantifying depreciation and insurance along with tare / gross weight and haz chem identification to name only a few.
Both of those first two trains were long. I noticed the one that it stopped took off not more than a couple of minutes after the other one come flying by so it must have been so long that until he cleared the end of the switch at the siding they couldn't pull out. They were both hot movers though because they were moving right away.
I saw the crew get on the train but I didn't see the other crew that got off (replaced)... was it a swap-over or did they just add to the crew? Did they find their huskeys? That first single engine train certainly had a big load for one locomotive? It was strong. Thanks for your videos, JT... generally I always do watch another one!

Great job with those two trains passing JT.
Very impressive
Good morning I enjoyed the video👍👍
That was cool! Train meet on the bridge with DPUs on both of them. Nice catch! ❤😊
Love the two Canadian geese standing on the concrete abutment for the railroad bridge. Great video, Jaw Tooth!

Umm no that’s not correct. The orange vest primarily give to conductors with less the one year of service. After the year they wear green.

If I saw correctly, there was no exchange of the crew, nobody got off the locomotive when the train stopped.

Another fine Jaw Tooth Production.
Awesome location for trains.
In the beginning, you can barely make out the signal on the right is Approach Medium and the one on the left is Medium Clear.

When the loco is long hood forward does the engineer change sides so they are on the right hand side going forwards?
Do you know where the steel mill is located, that all the coil cushion cars come from? If it's not too far, will you do a video in the future? Thanks

Hi Can you tell me what the Yellow bar marks on both tank and gondolas cars indicate. Many thanks
Hi Jawtooth! Do any of the numbers tell when the rail car was made? If so, what is the oldest rail car you have seen?
It's not a prominent marking, but look among the car data for a designation"BLT mm-yy" where 'mm' would be the month and 'yy' is the year.
How about filming the regional Wheeling & Lake Erie in eastern Ohio? It's an EMD haunt, and seems to get little coverage on RUclips...

Wow yes over 2 miles long train 🚆 great 👍 👌 train video
The Baltimore and Ohio went through Cleveland Ohio back in day
That is the longest train that i have ever seen by the way did that man find his two dogs
Not that I know of. He came back and I told him that I never saw his dogs. Poor guy
245 Train cars one engine in front and two engines in the middle.!!
I think that train needs to be patient for his crew
Three locos on point
221 cars
2 dpu’s
Yellow vest is a trainee
Huge one, but wait there's more!
One thing about jawtooth he knows where the trains are
I look for them
That was one long train with 3 hauling and 2 DPU.
They could cut that long train in half and still have two long trains running.
