Installed this today on my Gibson SG special. Night and day difference in tuning stability and intonation with the Tonepros. It was also pretty much spot on right out the box. It is indeed a little taller that the SG bridge but the Tonepros doesn't tilt like the original so I found I got lower action when swapping and I had to raise the posts (compared to how I had the Gibson bridge posts set)
Hey there, I’m thinking about buying a TonePros AVT2P N Wraparound Bridge for my Les Paul Jr. I’m having some tuning stability issues so I wonder would this type of upgrade help clearing out the problem ? Thanks in advance
Funny enough I’ve switched from a tonepros (I upgraded) back to a lightning wrap around, yes stability is a little worse but I love the original look on my 1960’s sg Melody maker
After watching this video, I decided to go with the same bridge you bought. It's for my 2022 Gibson Les Paul Jr.I also have a question, is your tuning stability improved a lot after installing this particular bridge? Because, that's all I'm after.
My SG Special has the same bridge (but in chrome) and if I fret too hard on bar chords etc. the notes get pulled sharp - I'm not sure if it's the nut or the bridge or both but this seems like a worthwhile upgrade! Thank you for the informative video 🙏
My pleasure George. Bringing it to a tech would definitely help. Sometimes a proper setup is all the guitar needs. If your bridge tilts forward, then this is a great replacement that does help with tuning and action issues.
So how do you actually adjust string height without detuning the strings and unlocked the stud caps. Then moving the stid and retuning over and over until its right?
It's the only way tp do it. Just install the high E and low E when adjusting the bridge height. It creates less tension on the bridge and less of a hassle to detune two strings as opposed to 6.
@cornnflaek3271 that may be true where you are intending to put a bigger size gauge of strings. If you use 9s or 10s then it works just fine. At least, it did for me.
I just put this bridge in my SG special with the aim to fix intonation and be more accurate. It does a great job at that, but somehow it lost some resonance and the sound of the bridge pickup became a bit more brittle, not sure if it’s because the space between the bridge pickup and the bridge is more narrow now. Another thing I noticed was that it did change the feel of the guitar as well so I think I’ll go back to the original bridge and maybe look for another solution, was wondering if you had any other bridges in mind before this one? Great video by the way thanks so much for your knowledge and taking time to make videos like this!!
@@TheToneLounge to be honest I am not sure, the only thing I have changed is the bridge but it just feel different :( I’ll give it a month or so to see if maybe I am just being picky haha thanks for replying!!! :)
Great video...What about the radius of the tone pros? I'm looking for one to match the radius of my PRS Singlecut, of which is, 10" and these tone pros are usually radiused to 12". Is this even a factor?
To adjust the bridge nuts i use a quarter so you cannot scratch the nut with soft metal like a quarter ! Removing the bridge nut inserts you use a short brass rod and screw the nut down on the rod which pulls the insert right out of the wood evenly and carefully then insert the inserts that come with your new wrap around bridge.
Tonepros AVT2G or Tonepros AVT2G CH? I'm going on based on video title. I have a Epoch and this looks perfect to install. Doing the same as you in taking a guitar thats cheap (price not quality) and upgrading.

@@danielguimaraes8705 I am sure you have your answer by now, but yes, the locking posts are clamping down onto the bridge to hold it in place. so before any attempts are made to adjust the bridge via the allen screws, you should "unclamp" the bridge from the posts. As far as loosening the strings, everyone will tell you yes. but for minor moves i don't find it necessary.
That's a great guitar dude. It's unfortunate you had to upgrade so many things but a p90 gibby is a beautiful thing. The music you used for the background sounded like some bluesy jazz, what was it?
The P90 in mine was very different than what we associate as a standard P90.The 2015 models had a design called a "slug" pole P90. They were flat pole and for some reason it sounded more like a standard single coil. This design was originally introduced in 1947, and was used on hollowbody guitars. On a solid body guitar, they sounded different. Hence why I had a P90 made to 50/60's specs.
Hipshot tuners. I'll never buy another Grover, Schaller, Kluson...whatever. And if someone gave me those other tuners, I'd say thanks for the fishing weights. I've got open backed locking Hipshots on all my guitars and basses. And a Hipshot Xtender on nearly all of them. Nice bridge BTW.

Exactly what I need, perfect timing
Awesome. It's coming out tomorrow.
That is a beautiful guitar. Sounds tight. Great upgrades!
Yeah, the upgrades were well worth it.
String changing is never my favourite job either. I feel your frustration. Still loving that Jnr
Yeah, that Junior is really cool. I always poke myself in the fingers with the strings and bleed all over the place. lol
Nice! If you're happy with it, that's all that matters. I'd be happy with it too.
It's a great bridge and highly recommend it.
I've used tonepros on 2 of my epiphone guitars. Didnt quite notice tonal upgrade, but can vouch on tuning stability n ease of bridge adjustment.
Yeah, same here. I can't hear a difference in tone, but I can hear the difference in tuning stability.
The main reason why I would get it is improving the intonation in case if the stock bridge can’t fine tune it.

Will this fit on my Epiphone les Paul jr? Mine has a similar bridge to the one your guitar had pre replacement.
Are your strings seated in the nut properly? You may have to file out the channels a wee bit.
Love that guitar
Les Paul Jr and Specials are awesome guitars.
@@TheToneLounge yes indeed

@TheToneLounge ahh gotcha
@TheToneLounge I've got an avtii M . Looking for replacements from other brands because the locking stud thing is such a bad design
Anyone know the size of the saddle adjustment screws?
I saw somewhere that you need to file your own grooves in the saddle on the tonepros, is this true and if so, is it hard to get right?

@@TheToneLounge to be honest I am not sure, the only thing I have changed is the bridge but it just feel different :( I’ll give it a month or so to see if maybe I am just being picky haha thanks for replying!!! :)
What matters is the distance between the pickup and the saddles. As the bridge itself is bigger, any other physical difference is purely cosmetic.

I think there is a version of these for the PRS models. Perhaps you can find the info on their website?

Can you tell me what size allen wrench is needed to set the bridge? I lost mine and I'm pretty sure it's metric.
I'll see if I can help you once I get back home from vacation. Have you contacted the company for the answer?
Hi, one question: if I have to move a bit the bridge with the allen kry to fix intonation issues, do I have to unlock the top of the bridge an release all the strings?

Releasing the tension from the strings is definitely smart.
@@TheToneLounge thank you, but do I have to unlock the top with a screw or just use the allen key?
@@danielguimaraes8705 I'm not sure. Have you looked on their website for some instructions?
@TheToneLounge thank you , I just wrote them an email. But I'll try to release the strings and see if it moves gently the way it is.

100%

Let me know if you get to try it. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
The next question could be : Does this bridge can help to install a Bigsby on a Les Paul Junior or Special ?
Sadly, I am not able to answer this question.
That's a great guitar dude. It's unfortunate you had to upgrade so many things but a p90 gibby is a beautiful thing. The music you used for the background sounded like some bluesy jazz, what was it?
It's one of the royalty free songs from the RUclips library.
Schaller Signum, I would have said Schaller 456T aka Badass like I have on my SG Special, but they don't make it anymore.
Feed all the strings first on the bridge then place the bridge on the guitar
That's a smarter approach. :)
He said that in the words
The first bridge was compensated, was that not good enough?
No, I had an extra tilt on top of it all. Plus, I change tunings a lot, with the original bridge, the intonation got wonky.
Great video. The only reason I would buy a Gibson is that nothing gets the sound they have. Interesting that you changed the pick up.

Good for left handed guitar?
There should be left-hand versions. The right-handed version has the sadles filed to right-hand string alignment.
I doubt the original bridge is titanium. More likely zink pot metal or Zamak. Titanium is expensive and wouldn't be used on a budget instrument.
It's Zamak. My replacement nut is titanium.
