- I explored the Augusta Canal Trail in Augusta, GA during the Summer of 2020. It's an interesting trail. It's only partially paved, but features some unique bridges and structures. There's a natural "swimming hole" and some other water features along the way. Overall, it's a great trail to explore over a day or two. And it's free. While you're in Augusta, check out the downtown Riverwalk as well. Visit www.augustacanal.com to learn more. #AugustaCanalTrail #AugustaCanal
I ride this trail two to three times a week. It is a great trail to ride approximately 7 miles long. We cross the Augusta 13th street bridge into SC and ride the Greeneway which is also 7 miles long.
Answers to some comments: many access points, all free parking and people do fish in the canal and Savannah River. also bike and kayak rentals.
Thank you for sharing this ! Moving to Augusta soon and this made me that much more excited about it ☺️❤️
Have you moved as yet ? And how do u like it? I’m moving in a month
Beautiful video! I grew up in Augusta in the 1970s and 1980s and must say that I never made it over to the trail. But next time I get back there, I will definitely have to walk through the trail. It looks beautiful and peaceful! Thank you for sharing such a great video!
Our favorite trail.
Scott,
This is a nice trail and vid. You should consider doing a voice over with trail rating. Might be a way to share with new audience without doing a roadtrip. Either way you're doing great work. My wife and I drove close to 100k miles in early 2000's doing the whole bike trails/camping/adventuring thing mostly in central and North Florida. Then mountain biking for another decade after. Many trips in Southeast as well. Fun times
Yes!I do plan to return to Augusta and do a "proper" trail review video of this one. It really is a great trail experience. Thanks for watching...
6:55 I used to live in the neighborhood you’re headed toward here! The city gave us keys to get through a locked gate by a cul-de-sac. I used to take my daughter over there to see the pump station and I’ve ridden a bike on this trail. I haven’t been back in many years.
Augusta is my hometown. Lived there 1956-1958, 1960-1975, 1980-1992. Little known fact about the Augusta Canal is that it was built with Chinese immigrant labor, which is why there is a small Chinese community in Augusta today.
Wow… I did not know that…
Looks great
Very nice
I know this trail very well.
Is this one long trail
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Are there different lots to park? Is there a cost to park?
It's 100% free to park and ride. Enjoy 😀
Can I fish the canal?
