The older demo can be seen here: ruclips.net/video/DYkPUmyWmXc/видео.html The available fighters take more damage and are more aggressive. Which do you feel is the better version?
Heads up: long text ahead, I didn't expect to write so much lol. I just wish there was more strategy to the game. In Punch out you had counterpunching, punishing enemy punches and even entire strategies that could defeat an enemy extremely fast. They were hard to execute, but extremely rewarding to learn about an (don flamenco's combo for example). In this game you don't really have to look out for an enemy's moves, they attack rareöy and you can mostly just attack right off the bat, they don't even block you or anything. Because of this, the fights are extremely short because you just punch the enemy without getting punished and occasionally dodge. Paired with the lack of impactful punches and honestly, the fairly boring characters... this game is just a really barenones version of a punch out game. I'm sure a lot of work went into it, but if the game even wants to get close to how satisfying punch out felt to play, there needs to be a loooot more work put into balancing and tweaking the fights. I hope this game can become the pizza tower of punch out tho and will keep looking into development :)
@@redfireddragon8584THIS! SO MUCH THIS! This is pretty much how I feel about the game after beating the demo the day it came out. The only fight that actually felt like a Punch Out fight was the one with Trigger Happy but, it was way too fucking short for me to enjoy it. Also, something really cool that they could have done Freezey Boy's phase 2 was to actually make him decent challenge as a way to teach the player to pay attention and not just spam punches until you win. Hell, they could've made his phase 2 an actually hard fight to shatter all expectations. If they did that, I would have immediately been sold on the game. Sadly, the game isn't anywhere near what I want from a Punch Out-like game. That said, I hope the devs make the improvements that the people who are interested want. I hope everyone who want to play the game have a fun and satisfying time with it when it eventually comes out.
It's kinda sad that the bosses really arent very tough once you have them sorted out. I hope the devs add a sort of "retro mode" that makes the game play a little more like Punch Out, letting the fighters get up so you can at least get a little more fight out of them
I think it's because you as the player only have 3 HP, which means you HAVE to get these guys as fast as you can, otherwise you'll be in a world of hurt, but it would be nice to have some fighters get up, kind of like Coach Skank's fight where sometimes if you knock him down with a sliver of health he comes back in full HP
It's kinda dumb how you can hit bosses whenever and not just like a short period after they whiff or right before an attack, that was the whole idea of Punchout. I do much enjoy the amount of charm this game has though.
I'm a bit worried about the difficulty of this game as most of the bosses can really only throw 1-3 attacks before you knock them out which seeing as you it takes 3 hits before you go down, means you're in no threat of losing. The last 3 are the only ones who are tanky enough to throw more than 3 attacks with coach skank only having 2 attacks, trigger happy is very simple once you understand what's going on, and titanic 5000 being really the only boss I struggled with for more than 10 mins.
They were tankier and more aggressive in the old version so I'm hoping the default difficult gets reverted to that (or selectable difficulty lets you have something like the old version or harder). I wonder if the real "difficulty" is supposed to be through the challenges which some of them can be difficult to do but some can be tough to understand what the exact trigger it for is. One change in the newer version I like is that Ice Cold Killer's roar after finishing transformation prevents you from just using a thunder punch like in the old version to get some good damage in.
Each boss but coach stank fell within 30 seconds. I hope for the full game, make all the bosses much harder with second stages, or else this won't be worth it to play. Add a blocking gimic or something for the bosses so they dont go down so easily.
I really don't understand why the bosses (aside from coach skank) never block or dodge and just sit there eating damage. The original punchout's concept is about finding openings in guards, all this just ends up being is a sandbag hittting contest. I'm honestly not impressed and hope the big rework they shown off is gonna fix a lot of this.
@@CrankyTemplar Or it could be a normal or easy mode like a similar game Thunder Ray that had 3 difficulty levels for most of the fights (Final boss only is on hard mode and the street fighter in the DLC is also only on hard) and the fights on Beast mode are incredibly harder than contender and rookie so maybe this game will have something similar to Thunder Ray and remember, (I don’t think Javi Rico had a difficulty level in the demo so don’t lose hope yet)

I'm really hoping there's something important I'm missing here, because if this is actually just how the game is supposed to be, that is extremely disappointing.
The older demo had them with more health and aggressiveness, so it might be they tweaked things a bit too easy for this one. Or they might be aiming for variable difficulty in the full game. I'm definitely hoping the full game is more challenging as even though you could KO opponents in Super Punch Out in seconds if you knew exactly what to do it's easy to do the same just button mashing here.
