As an autistic person myself, I relate to that part of not wanting to make mistakes, or feeling like you're not allowed to, like it's an unvorgivable sin or something, a lot. I can only speak for myself, but art, and especially big projects like games, take the time they take, and if it will take you more time to finish it on the standard you want to finish it on, then that's how it is. I can and will wait for as long as it takes. It's your project, your piece of art, not mine, I am just one of many people who are interested, but imo it's not your responsiblity to please us. But I also know these things are easier said then done and it's easy and normal to feel obligated to please people. I just wanna state that I'm not dissapointed and that I think that you will do awesome stuff^^
I was worried something more major and personal happened to you, I’m relieved to hear it was just the loss of some code. It’s sad that you had to re-do so much work but hey, it’s how the cookie crumbles sometimes, as shitty as that is. There’s been so many Sonic fan projects that just kinda collapse completely after a while so I would have been okay no matter what happened. Take all the time you need, anything releasing at all is better than most projects seem to do, so no matter that state it’s in I think it’ll be something to be proud of! Still just as excited to play it as I’ve always been.
Moments like this give you time to re-evaluate and refine. Sure, you may have lost a lot of work, but you didn't lose that experience. You know what it is supposed to be like and now have the opportunity to make it even better. Best of luck, don't give up!
Not only coming clean about it, but having done so after already making progress into making up lost work shows serious integrity. Good on ya! I'll admit I had to pause and groan for a bit because it never gets easier to hear somebody didnt have a backup. Hopefully a lesson learned!
Damn, the only thing I'm upset about is that this happened to you at all. Losing all that hard work would crush me, huge kudos to you for continuing to work on the project.
really happy to finally hear anything about this, i completely understand your fear of just coming out and announcing this. still cant wait to play this, and im so thankful you didnt give up. technology SUXX
Please do take your time. As a SW Dev I've lost work aswell and it sucks. Of course its easy to ask you to not worry about it, but it's nice to know where this project went. I've got no stress and I'm just keen to see it
As someone who's a developer; I totally understand your frustration. Game development not only can be challenging but also unpredictable as anything could happen. Take as much time as needed! There's no rush! :D
Random errors like that, be they due to technology or the mind... those are just part of life. What matters is that one does not give up, and moves past them with grace.
Similar thing happened to our project, but vve didin't have to tell people since... vve haven't released a single demo yet. Still had to tell the team that vve lost out on a finished level though. I have the same issue (and autism, for that matter), but it really doesn't interfere vvith stuff i like most of the time, albeit it is the vvorst trait to have combined vvith identity issues.
Did you watch sonic movie 3? It surpass 2 and was way past cool. This truly was an ultimate year of shadow. Also no rush you had plenty ofvtime you doing hreat job so dont worry about it
i wish this was a purchasable game instead of a fangame you guys deserve that
