Peter Watson is frankly a partisan embarrassment to NZ. Biden's administration never said they would allow unrestricted use of long range weapons into Russian territory. What the Pentagon actually said was: "The U.S. will not impose new limits on Ukraine's use of American weapons if North Korea joins Russia's war" The word "new" makes all the difference. Whether this guy is only semi-literate or he's willfully misinterpreting this is an exercise for the viewer.
...And did he say "Warsaw-backed troops'??? 6:03 I think he meant 'Warsaw Pact' but that is an old Iron Curtain USSR reference. I really am puzzled by that one.

It’s discretionary. Calculate the tariff and then when it is lifted for concessions for USA nz will be on win win. But nations that don’t speak English and Māori may have trouble lifting tariffs!
a wealthier u.s. middle class will have 'significantly positive' impacts on our export volume potential and tarrifs will have minimal impact if we're on the job with aggressive marketing and premium products.
Then they will have to sell it to new Zealand consumers at a price we can afford, why do countries over seas pay lower prices for our beef, than we do, economists can say all they like, it will never make sense, make it work for kiwis
@ they grow over 90 million of cattle for meat per annum. We are only 5 million people and our annual consumption of beef is around 7kg per person. It’s the economy of scale - foreign companies buy 100’s of time more than local ones. The more you buy the cheaper it gets.
I have not seen any convincing evidence to suggest tariffs are a good idea, both for consumers and therefore the country. Higher demand of cheaper products from countries where labour costs are very low is a bell you can’t un-ring. You just have to find a way to make the right products locally and allow free trade for the rest.
As if the average American would be able to contemplate the deeper aspects of a candidate. At the most they are able to decide what junkfood for their they can afford next meal! Don't overthink the intellectual capacity of the american voter..
Talking about throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks! The entire interview of his "expertise" is short, from 8:26 - 15:36. Everything else is political scoring, totally implausible scenarios, and misinformation spouted as opinion that borders fictitious. Incredible that this interview was deemed worthy enough to air. I hope no one else wastes their time sitting through the entire thing like I have.
I'm a big fan of Jack's, but for God's sake mate go get a suit tailor-made. You're representing Kiwi media abroad, you get to be a tall poppy on TV for a couple of weeks...
To many Putin talking points aired here for my comfort.Ukraine presently has a democratically elected government whatever this guy might think.Ukraine is entitled to protect itself by any means it sees fit including long range weapons.Apparently only Putin is allowed to escalate by bringing in troops from a foreign power.A deal can't be agreed bilaterally over the heads of Ukraine's government. They can choose to fight on with no help from America if they so choose, with assistance from other European allies whose membership of NATO does not preclude this.Poland and the Baltic states are likely to enter the war on the ground on Ukraine's side if the are in danger of losing...because they are next on Putin's menu, especially the lightly populated Baltic states. There is also the moral question of a peaceful nation being invaded and partially destroyed due to a dictator's crazy revanchist vision of restoring the pre WW1 Russian Empire. That includes the Baltic republics,Poland and Finland by the way. This "peace deal" will merely be a pause to rearm and swallow the remainder of Ukrain when the time is ripe,as happened to Czechoslovakia in 1938 with by the Munich Agreement with Hitler.
100% correct. Neither the USA or Russia have the right to alter Ukraine's borders or determine it's degree of sovereignty. The easiest and quickest way to change Trump's behaviour would be to simply bribe him. He's lazy, easily flattered, totally corruptible and quite willing to change his mind if he's advantaged. The only other option if U.S. aid is withdrawn is a conventional invasion of Russia by NATO. (Finland and Poland could probably do it just by themselves at the moment, as Russia is barely coping with Ukraine.) The other advantage to NATO involvement may well be that it may lead to regime change in Belarus.
We desperately need a free trade agreement with the US - we lose out so much on this. As it is duties multiply the cost of the imported good by a factor of around 2 - Neither party can freely import that kind generalised purchasing that’s done online. I found this out firsthand when I imported some electronic parts - red tape & duties & delays meant I basically got robbed. Our politicians could do more to push a deal through. These tarriffs if the happen will be pretty bad on an already bad situation
We will live without amreican imports. Need to make nz grest again keep it tight make our home made products cheap and prioritise what we NEED to import rather than WANT. Politicians are talking heads for big corporations and make policy to be policed by the constabulary.. evil little puppet politicians.. no integrity!
