Mindfulness - Choice of Words

The greatest damage you can do is not through your actions. Most people are not unhappy because of wrong actions. They are unhappy because of the wrong choice of words and wrong contemplation of thoughts. Most people are not upset or sad because somebody is beating them down or saying bad things about them. It is because they are not able to let go of their thoughts. They are thinking about the past, present and future. They are continually wondering of what other people think or say about them, even people who have no connection with them.
Even those who have never met you or have any idea about you will have an opinion of you because of your name, age, nationality, race, preferences, anything. It is foolish to allow yourself to be bothered by what others think. Never react to any information that you have not received directly. When you get the information directly, then you have a choice to reflect on it and make a decision accordingly.
