Your final thoughts at the end hit the nail on the head. ~ The people who always say "you're crazy" or "you're wasting your time & money" - Those are usually the people who have tried something, failed & given up. I never tell someone they CAN'T do something. Courage, daring and fearlessness are the result of a clear vision and an understanding of reality. ~ There is no greater reward than being able to sit back after all of this is done, take it all in & go, "Look, I did that." -
Thank you! 🙏🏼👆🏼👊🏻🤣
I don't think you're crazy.
I think you are an absolute inspiration.
Came here to say exactly THAT!!
If I had the money, I too, would be doing this very thing, and doing it the same way - with integrity.
And that staircase rockwork is phenomenal!!!
What a joy just to look at!!
It always makes me happy to see there are still stone masters who can do this the RIGHT WAY!
My hat is off to everyone!
It makes for some pretty unique and fascinating content, just raising a new built wing of the house could never do... and it has to be JIMMY'S idea of where he wants to live in, nobody else's so if he wants to make it perfect for himself, who's got the right to say it's not right?
Well,maybe a little crazy..
But in a good way.
Fantastic series! I loved hearing Ken's philosophy and Mike's commentary too!
Wow, Jimmy, what a transformation. I'll never fault someone for taking on a hard project like this. Good on ya!
Great series Jimmy. I love how you've seen a vision of what this can be and you're going for it, no matter now drastic the work. And thanks for giving us early viewing as well.
You always talk about what you said at the end of the video, about not letting other people’s fears become your own. I’ve done my best to keep that in mind whenever I want to do something a little unorthodox and I get pushback from people I know, whether it be family or others. I listen to well thought advice but I try to ignore the “what ifs” and “don’t be crazy” comments and do what I want if I feel strongly about it. 🙌🏻
Jimmy I love this series. You're right I couldn't afford to nor do I have the skills to take on a project like this. But I wish I were there. By you sharing the video I feel like I am there. Thanks for the added work to video this transformation. :o)
I use to drive past that house growing up. Always sad when they cut down the old growth. Amazing project cant wait to see more!
"It's important in life not to let other people's fears become your own." I can't agree more, and couldn't have said it better myself, Jimmy.
I love Jimmy's projects. That house will be a gem once finished.
Go get plans of my projects !

the audio in my into camera moments are on one speaker.. not stereo .. if you have no audio ..use the other earpiece
Jimmy is a rare breed. Very few people would take a project like this. 99% of people would tear down and build new.
I’ve been watching you long enough to know that rescuing an old house is exactly what I’d expect to see you do. Looks good, brother.
That was a huge work indeed, Jimmy! 😬
But really well done!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
It was being held together with hopes and dreams, and wire!
It feels like I’m watching an episode of This Old House 👍🏻, can’t wait to watch the next episode. Keep up the amazing work, your stone stacker guy is definitely an artist, it looks…WOW…
Places like this need people like you every 150/200 years to really fix things the right way and bring life back into them. And update them for modern times. If they are not enjoyable to live in then they get forgotten and end up going to waste.
I’m loving this video series Jimmy!
Your words and clarity of mind are mesmerizing!!!
If only 2% of the population would take these perspectives to heart we would have a totally different reality.
Please never stop being who you are Jimmy. Keep going as long as you possibly can! We are so blessed to have access to your physical and mental wisdom. Forever Grateful -m31uk3
I don’t think your crazy either, although half of a quarter inch is an 1/8 of a inch… 😂 just saying!❤🙏🏻🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️
How was this vid posted 2 hours ago, but comments 11DAYS old?
I think the ghosts are messing with your video. 😂
vai jimmy vai ... la gente è invidiosa e parla a vanvera . . un abbraccio
14:05 If "Josepha's" son cut that beam short, they would have made the building shorter to match. Waste not, want not...
I love what Ken said. “When you work with other people not everybody has integrity.” it’s sad but true.
Excellent series, but around the 18:30 minute mark, I'll have to disagree. Conan taught us the 3 rules of life: Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women. In all seriousness though, I agree with the 3 rules of life given in this video more than Conan's.
Character like that cannot be made over night it takes 200 years! great work! excited for the series, thank you for sharing it!
Its like the old sailing boat riddle. If you have a boat and over time you replace every single piece of wood on it, is it the same boat or a new boat?
27:12 is the true, I am with you
That piece of maple might make a good historical piece to turn into a custom cue to go with that new billiard table of yours. Would love to see you take on that as a project. Cheers.
Those 130+ year old beams alone are worth saving this house for. Good work.
I am loving all these videos. I’m glad you didn’t get picked up by a TV or streaming because it wouldn’t be nearly as good.
Hahah true
It's history - so much is lost to history - I'm glad you're saving something for history!
DESTRUCTION BEFORE CONSTRUCTION THATS A BIT NOVEL , PROGRESS HAS BEEN NOTED NOW THATS A GOOD JOB YOUS ARE DOING 😮.😊
Well done Jimmy. Great project and interesting content as always. You’re right of course, don’t listen to unimaginative folks, do what you want!
You got a barn across the road wouldn't storing that old lumber be better in there? I can't imagine it getting wet now after 150 years is doing it much good. I have an old slave quarters here I would love to save as its pretty rare that they even exist today. The work is at least on scale of what is required here. I would not mind doing it but don't have the time or money. :-( Maybe someday!
Love the care you're putting into this!!! But more importantly, what's new with the ghosts? 😅
Glad to see you guys are wearing your safety squints. Come on, guys!
obviously you wanted to make a ew handle for the sledgehammer
Dam shame all the trees were removed. Seems people do that to avoid the fall leaf cleanup.
Jimmy, saving that old house ❤️ brings a tear to my eye. It is at the same level as your shop Kyle built.
I've watched the Amish raise a barn, now I'm watching a New York barn deconstruction 😅
Every Jimmy needs a Mike. What a great video. Love the series.
I loved it Jimmy!!! Killer ending as well!!! Look forward to the next one!!! Brian
Me and my wife love this series. 7 years ago we dove into re-posting some of our barn. Put some of it up on cribbing. Couldn’t believe what we were doing! So cool to watch your process! Everything is its own custom job. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for doing it! IMO the best part of the property is the old barn…
I'm very impressed Jimmy. What a great project and great job. Can't wait to see the next part.
I think I would definitely hit my head going down those lovely stacked-stone stairs.
It's a labor of love! Yes and you saved it from a developer who would have put up either little houses on 1/4 acre lots or mini mansions. That area is beautiful and, so far, untouched. I love that the wood and beams and sills are giving up their secrets! You are contributing to it's history! I am so glad you are sharing this adventure with us!
Keep saving history Jimmy! Excellent work!
Looks amazing much work 🫶
This series is a true dark horse, quickly becoming one of my favorite and most looked-forward-to videos I've ever seen. Your passion and willpower you pour into this house bleeds into the content about it in a way that is truly inspiring. I'm confident the finished product will be something to behold, and you will look back on it with so much satisfaction and love. Really looking forward to more of the exquisite stone work!
Dirt all around. Remember glasses people.
Crazy!!!!! Can’t wait to see what you do with everything…
So Cool! Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for the early access! And really nice progress! This house is in good hands 👌
Thanx for the content you make ... Every time I learn something new. Your vision is so amazing. I am jealous of your ability to see past what "is" and what "will be". Best to you and your family.
Jimmy, any updates on the handprints and footprints inside here? That was creepy stuff
same .. nothing new .. I have a few ghost hunters coming to look
Love your care about the world around.
Sweeeeet thanks for the upload Jimmy ! Amazing work as usual ❤
Givin the addition its own good bones... worthy to the original.main house....and overall JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED...!
Sure wish Mike has some fall protection there. You feel safe Mike?
Dust masks would come in handy too.
Enjoy this content? I'm loving it. So much history. You can see the labor put into it. Awesome.
That addition definitely needed to come apart.
"It's really important in life to not let other people's fears become your own" ~ Jimmy Diresta (TS 27:01). WISE WORDS!!!!
Don't ever stop doing what you're doing! Firstly, because you love doing it and secondly, because WE love to learn from what you're doing! I sure love ya, Jimmy! God bless ya!!
I admire anyone who wants to and is able to preserve the past. Your glue technique is always on point.😁
You're doing a great job! I'm building a 4Runner right now and people ask all the time "Why spend so much money on THAT?"
Well, It's my money, My time and it's what I want to do...... I built it......
You should be so proud of the work you're doing... Can't wait 'til the next video!
I'm really enjoying these restoration videos Jimmy and I'm looking forward to seeing your vision when it's completed.
Watching your channel for years from Manchester UK..👍🏼
"It's really important in life to not let other people's fears become your own." Great words to live by, thanks.
I’m loving watching this series! I personally enjoyed that kinda work!
I am free, and I do whatever I want... I don't work hard, I enjoy what I do..... always, I'm always happy... money and an insignificant detail.... this is my thought . Greetings
IM A RETIRED CUSTOM HOME BUILDER, FANTASTIC PROJECT‼️ THERE IS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF WEIGHT ABOVE, PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL. STONE WORK IS BEAUTIFUL, I MISS WORKING ON GREAT PROJECTS, LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE, U R DOING A GREAT JOB‼️‼️🔨⚒ LOVE YOUR CHANNEL‼️‼️ Vinny 🇺🇸
Really enjoying this series and the behind-the-scenes info from you. Thank you for sharing! Also - what is the brand of the jacket you're wearing in the intro? Looks great on you!
Good for you Jimmy. Nice work. Since I'm lazy and with no building skills, and the cemetery has a negative impact on the value of the land, I would have just leased the land for grazing rights.
Mike is a beast ❤ love the series as much as each video I am periodically watch every now and then in the last decade. Thank you for all this!
Mr. Diresta, you can be very proud of what you are doing with the Graveyard house and the graveyard. You have integrity, the skill, determination and do great things. Before I became an old man, like you, I was not afraid to tackle any job or project.
Looking great!
Can't wait to see the finished product. Such a cool project, kudos!
As Jimmy tells us "Don't EVER just put black electrical tape to fix your sledgehammer handle. Never do that!" 😁
I cant wait to see that bandsaw that Keith Rucker just built for Jimi see some action. There is something magical about resurrecting these old historic industrial machines, and putting them back into service..... I'm getting the pop corn ready...
That's what I appreciate about you Jimmy. You don't let other people dictate your life. Haters hate because they're jealous. Keep on rockin' bro!
freaking love this series. so fascinating.
Yeah, you are crazy. For sure. But ... who isn't? I dare anyone say they're not crazy in this day and age. :))
A little crazy hurt nobody, plus, you're enjoying this. And ultimately, that's all that matters.
Dude it's all your's, your money, your time, your efforts, your home, your desire, your life.
Nuthin else matters what anyone thinks, positive, or negative, if they would've done something different, then they should have bought it first, as long as your happy with what you're doing, then brother do whatever you want, and as long as you're not hurting anyone else in any way.
Then may Peace n Harmony always be with you.
Myself I think it's gonna be friggin Kool as apple pie with homemade Vanilla ice cream, cold glass of fresh from the teat milk.
Peace ✌️
Jimmy,
The fact that you take the time to repair history, is worth it!
That's much better than our instant gratification, tear down build new society.
What would be cool, however, would be to make it a passive house. Heated floors, more Rockwood, hardy board siding, the works. But keep it old looking. Keep up the great work!
I also spent years renovating an old house. Not as old as this one, but from 1800s. A lot of similarities here. Timber from another life etc :). I can relate to building a house with bottle jacks, temporary supports and chainsaws :D.
Man you are making a short version of This Old House. Maybe you should have a talk with Bob Vila and have him as a guess appearance. 🤣 Either or great content. Keep filming and we will definitely keep watch.
So enjoyable watching you work. The house will be a treat for and family. I need to find the episode of This Old House you were on. Your DIRESTA logo is the greatest!
"But theres still rot and bug damage "Jimmys baby voice
Awesome job Jimmy love the work you doing and it IS inspiring keep up the great work!
You really can't say "Oh it's a waste of time" when this old house will still be standing in 200 years time. And still standing, because it was redone PROPERLY.
Great job. Keep bringing us great content. Love watching all your videos. Thank you for all of your hard work.
How truly magnificent! Such a fabulous philosophy married to a work ethic of doing it right. Pity you’re not running the world! Thanks for sharing!
People have doubts about this project? They do know who you are and your reputation, right? I think it's fantastic. Keep 'em coming (the videos).
Stiil amazing for us Europans, a wooden structure to frame a house. But it is a proven concept is seems.
You are right btw, do what you do . Do what you like. Do what keeps you busy. Doing nothing because it's maybe the most rational thing, renders you unlucky and will leave you depressed ! Creating is a primary need to keep one feeling good and useful ! Keep up the good work Jimmy.
What an exquisite view from that addition, if it was me, it would be all windows!! 😊
What a beautiful project you have there!! ❤ from TN!
The binding molecules of wood is called cellulose which is basically the natural polymer of sugar. The bugs and sometimes fungal growths (when it's moist) break up the cellulose into sugar and feed off it, making the wood lose its strength and leaving this sort of dry sponge or even dust. Fascinating isn't it?
-And if you look for a NileRed video where he makes moonshine from toilet paper, that's him using yeast (fungi) to break cellulose into sugar to blend with water and other type of yeast to then make alcohol.
I'm loving this build and I'm hoping for lots of windows for the owner to sit by in the future. Great project, this will be a fantastic series.
Those collar ties look sketchy...
Jimmy, very good content. Especially the lesson at the end about fear. So true. Thanks for sh/c-aring.
Is the vision... you're recreating the old NYC basement shop?
Jokes aside I admit that, even with the desire, it's not easy to put in the manual labor yourself. Great inspiration.
Love this! I'm sure you're way ahead on this project but I saw a great method on Laura Kampf's channel to raise supports for walls/roofs, which was to have two wedges facing each other and tapping them raises the support. Should be much easier than hammering the big blocks.
