I was at this game and I'm honoured to see the first complete shutout by Jays pitching since 2015! Strider was nasty but Bassitt was up to the challenge
Damn.... way to go mate👍👍 You picked one Helluva game to catch live. It's been years since I've had the pleasure to see a Jays game .. but I can full well imagine how awesome it would be to see THAT pitching masterpiece LIVE. Jays look good this season, a little bumpy in Boston ... otherwise a Great start. Hoping for big things from the boys in Blue..🤞
Two pitchers on their absolute peak, the feeling of surprise amongst crowd and both teams when someone gets a hit off Strider is palpable - what a duel!
as a Roy Halladay and BJs fan, I've missed this kind of performance so much... lately it feels like getting a starter through the 6th inning is too much to ask
Watching strider vs Bichette was amazing. Nobody seemed to have an answer for him expect this guy lol. He reminds me of an old school hard nosed pitcher. Meanwhile bassit steals the show with a complete game 2 hit shutout?? What a game damn..
This is the ball i want to see. Pitching duels, strikeouts, the occasional HR, extra base hits and hurlers going the distance. This was nostalgic baseball reminiscent of the dog days of the 80s and 90s. Love it.
Character and confidence move by Schneider, leaving Bassit in to finish it off - every pitcher wants the CG if they can, and Bassit definitely deserved it!
For people complaining about why it takes so long for MLB to post highlights, ya'll have never edited a video in your life and it shows. The level of editing that goes into these MLB highlights (using different announcers, storytelling etc) is so much more than any other sports league I've seen, not surprised at all it takes longer
Spencer Strider is an absolute ace, the kid is phenomenal on the mound. The Braves really lucked out with him. He was sensational last season and he looks like he’s carried that form into this season. He’s still only 24 too, the same age as stars like Soto, Tatis and Vlad. He has a bright future, I think a blind man could see that. That isn’t to take anything away from Chris Bassitt though.
You could tell how much Bassitt wanted it in that final inning. He was a man on a mission. Such a great game to watch. No sport has the ups and downs, the drama, and the unpredictability, of baseball.
Bassitt is legit our second best pitcher rn. Gausman, Bassitt, Kikuchi, Berrios, Manoah. In that order. But man, what a game. Against Strider too. And to end it with a strikeout? Icing. LET'S GO JAYS
I looked at the Bluejays ump scorecards over a 10 game stretch from April 29 - May 9. They were "favored" by the umps in 2 of them. 8/10 games, the other team had a positive run differential. This game, the Jays had a positive run differential of .27. They scored runs in the 5th 7th and 8th. The Braves scored nothing. The umpire truly had no effect on the outcome of this game whatsoever if you consider the fact that they scored 2 more runs after the 5th. It would have been 2-0 in the end...
Got 2 give it up 4 Bassitt!!! He Shut MY BRAVES 2NITE. Both starting pitchers had OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES. Is it just me, but doesn't Strider remind you of Randy Johnson??? I'm not talking about physical appearance, but the way they pitch and how DOMINANT THEY ARE!!! Anyways....the Jay's did their thing 2nite, but WE'LL GETCHA' 2MORROW!!! 🫡😏 Just ❤️⚾✌️
I can see the similarities with the sliders. But set up and Mechanics are different. Randy had open and closed glove set up where he was telling his pitches. There's actually a youtube video on how this one player explained his success against Randy.
Great game! Strider was seriously a scary point for me going into this game. Jays just coming off a rough roadtrip, and he's just a monster on the mound. Still was today. You just caught us on a monster pitching night from Bassitt.
@@Bluebird323 Yeah, give props where they're due, Strider's got dominant stuff. He's also got the mad stache, but the dude may as well just kick baseballs as a DH because that man exclusively works leg day only. Jeez.
Great performance by Bassit and by Strider, the guy that throws 2 pitches vs the guy that throws all of the pitches. Watched the highlight pack even though I watched the game because these kind of pitching duels are so rare. Glad the Jays pulled out the win, looking forward to todays game!
I was out on Bassitt during spring training and after his first start but he’s found himself the 2nd, if not 3rd best pitcher in a jays rotation that could be one of the best if Berrios and Manoah can get back to form. 15 straight scoreless innings in 2 games ☺️
Normalize not taking out starting pitchers when they're shoving. I've already seen multiple games ruined because the starter was removed then the bullpen immediately ruined the start.
Why didn’t we get to see more of bassitt in the replay! I don’t care about a pitcher striking out 8 if he loses the game show me the 9 inning 2 hit shutout pitcher
BTW, I always see a lot of folks complaining about the wait times for highlights. But it's not like the NFL where they're just using the telecast announcers, and cutting up the telecast visuals. They're doing the cut-ups with multiple radio broadcasts in addition to putting their own stock score graphic cards and info just for the RUclips highlights. I can see why the process takes a lot longer.
Lol multiple broadcast? We must not be watching the same highlights cuz the ones I see MLB post is clips of the home teams broadcast. Never heard multiple broadcast or radio. It's always the same announcers from start to ending.
@@TheeDonnieRey Yes multiple broadcast are mixed in with each highlight package on here. That's the multiple stations are shown towards the beginning of each game clip.
@@TheeDonnieRey The announcers are a different set throughout, they usually go with the comms of the team that 'wins' each at bat. When it's a national broadcast, they mix those commentators in with the local radio/TV calls too. To me it adds a lot and the highlight packages are perfectly edited and well worth the wait.
While this is true @astrostar49 and I have observed this too, I don't think it excuses just how long it takes. If the NFL, NBA, and NHL can have them up within 20 minutes, then we can give the MLB maybe 40 minutes if being generous. Heck, an hour even -- that would be very generous. Not FOUR OR FIVE HOURS AFTER THE FINAL PITCH.
Cant say enough about how amazing Bassit was tonight, against the best team in the NL no less! But can we please talk about those tree trunks for legs that Strider has?!?!?!?

He and Olson have been freezing cold for what seems like ages now. Not sure what happened. At least they are both still very solid defenders in the field

Finally jays letting their starter go the distance when he's pitching well, how long has it been since the Jays last had a complete game from their starter has to be at least 4-5 years?
The Rogers Centre is one of the toughest ballparks to play in, and that’s exactly what happened to the Atlanta Braves last night upon arrival in Toronto. Not only did they lost, but the Braves went cold in a 3-0 shutout. At first, the Braves thought they could get their bats fired up and start a new winning streak in a different country like Canada. But the Blue Jays made them pay for underestimating the people of Toronto by scoring a total of three runs throughout the entire game, and the Atlanta Braves have only themselves to blame for letting their overconfidence get the better of them. That’s the reason they’ve lost round one. Atlanta’s lead in the NL East has gone down a bit to six games ahead of the Phillies. But the Dodgers are knocking on the Braves front door, threatening to take the title for best record in the National League. The second round would begin this afternoon, and the Braves would have to find a way to get back at the Blue Jays. Can the Atlanta Braves figure out a way to get a win to even the series, or will their overconfidence get the best of them once again? And can the Blue Jays use Atlanta’s mistakes to their advantage? Tune in this afternoon and find out to see if the Braves can avoid another shutout and get a win on Canadian soil from the Rogers Centre in Toronto! BRAVES (25-13) VS.
