    Huge oversight not to cite the biggest difference of them all. The 85 uses an ADS panel, while the 90 uses a VA. I was hoping to see what difference this does side to side when it comes to blooming, especially off-angle, but sadly, not this time.

      @@ArtVandelayOfficial Yep. I saw it. He didn't show off-angle blooming in live content for the QN85B though, only static pictures. Anyway, this is the biggest problem of the QN85B for me, but I still decided I'll get it. Better colors, better price, less DSE, no horrible rainbow filter, no VRR flickering... ADS has its shortcomings, but it has some big advantages as well.

    • @barryjones2366
      @barryjones2366 2 года назад

      @@PetrisonRocha I don't think they are any different in colours, it's just the camera captures the darker tvs colours better and makes the brighter one colours look washed out and faded looking. If you pause the video when the brightness is about the same on both there seems to be no difference in colours. To prove this further find a scene where the 85b looks brighter than the 90b and the 90b looks to have better richer colours, then find a scene where the opposite is true and you'll think the 85b has better richer colors.....don't believe what you see with tvs. 😄

    • @PetrisonRocha
      @PetrisonRocha 2 года назад +6

      @@barryjones2366 Every single time I compared closely priced TVs with IPS vs VA panels side to side, IPS won, even if slightly. There's just something about the technology that makes colors pop better. Tech with KG also reviewed the QN90B and QN85B side to side and he reported the QN85B to have a small advantage in color reproduction.

    • @barryjones2366
      @barryjones2366 2 года назад +2

      @@PetrisonRocha there might be in person a slight difference but in the video you can't tell. 😄
      IPS is known for better colours and SDR viewing angles but worse contrast and so blooming is worse at an angle, it's vice versa for va panels. No perfect tv out there. 😀

    Is it true that the ADS panel has better colour (though how much better?) than the VA panel especially for brighter colours and the VA panel has better contrast (how much better?) and so less blooming on angle and off for HDR?
    Just wondering which LCD panel type would be better for a 43 inch monitor (close up viewing) do you think? Since I've got the 43" VA panel 90B that doesn't have a wide viewing angle layer, so the edges of the screen wash out in colour and brightness a bit, just wondering for close up viewing for a PC would the ADS panel be better since it also has the benefit of a RGB pixel layout since the VA has a BGR which would make it more suitable for text rendering.
    Wouldn't it make more sense now to use an ADS/IPS panel for a large/small monitor/tv? But you would take a hit in contrast I believe but how much difference is there with over 8000:1 now on the 85B! vs over 20,000:1 on the 43" 90B? I wonder is the contrast/blooming much worse when viewing straight on in a dimly lit room compared to the 90B?

      The major difference I see is viewing angles. qn90a has better viewing angles when it comes to blooming and black uniformity, qn85b is on par if viewed at eye level at different angles but gets too much blooming when viewing position is lower or higher. Colors are almost the same viewed at an angle, 85b bright and excellent colors 10/10 for me, qn90a id say 9/10, it gets washed out but not too much.
      Main reason I bought qn85b is for watching on our sunny room where reflection is an issue, light doesnt get reflected across the screen like qn90a and still very bright and wont see blooming on bright room. At night I turn on my bias lighting to help with blooming, its still there but almost unoticeable.

    As a competitive FPS pc gamer who uses a 240hz monitor, I can assure you that 144hz vs 120hz would not be any noticiable difference no matter which game you play so don't spend the extra for that.
    The only reason that people use high refresh rate monitor for pc gaming is for competivie edge and there are only a few games that you would actually need. Games like Volarant, CSGO, APEX and PUBG etc. I would argue that even those games, 120 hz is enough and unless your skill level is extremely high, but even in those scenario, you would play it on a 24 to 27inch pc monitor with 240 or 360hz refresh rate with less than 1 ms input lag instead of a gigantic TV.

    so the QN85B and QN90B are the same price in my country and I don't know which one to pick, I'm worried about the rainbow effect on the QN90B, I have a lamp and a window opposite of my TV setup and I fear that the rainbow will be too diatracting

    • @abtelectronics
      @abtelectronics  Год назад +1

      @dariomladenovski7047 The QN90B has Samsung's expert calibration from the factory and the ability to perform an expert calibration through the SmartThings app, and a couple other less significant improvements. But the QN85B still has a terrific picture. At the same price, the QN90B is definitely the better TV, but if you want to avoid any rainbow effect, the QN85B is the way to go.

    • @abtelectronics

      @John Doe Both are great options! If you like a really bright picture, it's hard to beat the QN90B with those mini LEDs. The colors on the A80K have a more natural look to them right out of the box though. If the room isn't really bright you shouldn't have any issues with using either one. • @abtelectronics
      @abtelectronics  Год назад

      @will dilly The 90 is overall the better of the two models, but as far as brightness goes they're both excellent and would look good in a basement. That being said, screen uniformity changes from panel to panel even within the same series. But our experience with both models has been very good. A Samsung QN85B, não é uma TV. É um verdadeiro pesadelo. É um protótipo semi acabado. O sistema operacional é confuso, irritante e trava mtas vezes. Os menus de configurações são infindáveis, mts. são redundantes e nada intuitivos. A maioria das configurações é confusa. A TV constantemente não obedece ao Contr. Remoto, sendo necessárias várias tentativas. Para ligar, muitas vezes é necessário retirar/recolocar o cabo de alimentação para q a TV ligue. Qualquer operação exige mtos toques, p/ex: para emparelhar um fone Bluetooth, se der certo na 1ª vez, são necessários 11 toques no mínimo. Se não der, é necessário fazer por outro caminho, com mais de 13 toques. O alcance do Bluetooth, com a maioria dos fones (testei 8), não passa de 2 m. O controle remoto tem poucas teclas e exige uma seguência interminável de menus e toques para se realizar qualquer operação. Nunca apertei tanto botão, como agora. A abertura de streams (Globoplay, Netflix, etc.) é lenta e mtas. vezes trava. O SmartHub, tela de Apps/Dispositivos favoritos, fica sendo reconfigurada pela Samsung, retirando favoritos q Vc. põe, para impor outros Apps (AppleTV, p/ex.). Mensagens de configurações não solicitadas, são inexplicavelmente exibidas, interrompendo o q Vc. está vendo. O recurso de gravação com HD externo, é precário, limitado, e funciona mal. A Samsung como é sabido, não tem um serviço efetivo de Suporte (Somente robôs, e respostas vazias). Resumindo: Esta não é uma TV para entretenimento. É um dispositivo para testar sua paciência e sua sanidade. No entanto...a imagem é ótima, e o som é o melhor q já ví em TVs. Estou a 2 meses com esta TV, e se eu achar um preço aceitável por ela, vou trocar antes q ela instale, por conta dela, o app "Hospício", e me mande prá lá.

      Yet no blooming detected at all when the fire demo was on display.
      Blooming isn't bad at all. People doing videos and cranking the ISO on the camera is misleading and frankly if they HAVE to crank the ISO so you "can see it", then how the hell is it bad blooming? It stands to reason if the blooming was bad then NO RAISING of the light of the camera would be needed..

      I just auditioned both sets side-by-side at Abt. After spending about 45 minutes viewing a lot of different source material, I felt the 90B had better shadow detail, while the 85B had better highlight detail. I’m sure both sets could be dialed-in to look pretty close. I couldn’t justify the $500 price difference, so went with the 85B. Our room is not bright, so reflections are not a problem. We also don’t watch at extreme angles, so the IPS panel has been just fine. It’s a great TV with amazing picture quality.
