  • The U.S. is one of only seven countries in the world without a national family paid leave plan. President Biden has vowed to pass a federal family leave bill, but lawmakers aren't budging. Bianca Facchinei explains why it's so hard for lawmakers to create this plan and Shu Matsuo Post discusses Japan's parental leave policy.

Why doesn't the US offer paid parental leave? Why don't US citizens have medical care, like almost all other countries do? Why doesn't the US have free university education? Why do prescription dugs cost so much more in the US than they do anywhere else? Why doesn't the US have good low-cost day care?

Because the US is the only country where there is legal bribery in politics. Corporations pay off politicians to do their bidding.

Because it would benefit the people and the corporate overlords would loss a marginal amount of their profits

I firmly believe that we need to implement a sick leave as well as maternity and paternity leave programs for all workers in this country. I personally feel that every time worker in this country regardless of their job should be guaranteed at least 2 weeks of sick leave and 2 weeks vacation per year. In addition to guaranteed sick leave, we also need to allow both mothers and fathers who just had a baby to be guaranteed time off with pay as well, so that way businesses can ensure that their employees at all levels can come into work feeling their best and contributing their best physically and mentally everyday.
Finally, I firmly believe that "Working Poor" should not be a thing! If you work full time every week of the year, you shouldn't be living at or below the poverty line in this country!

Is this having anything to do with a fact that 70 percent of World’s serial killers are from the US, lack of empathy and childhood traumas, lack of closeness… is this maybe connected to this fact that mothers do not spend enough time when is the most important to be with a child. How about this epidemic of mass shootings in America that again counts for 90 percent of mass shootings world wide. Also, infant mortality rate places US at a highest level among all other developed countries. How about school system and low scores when testing the basic knowledge? How about millions of homeless Americans who sleep on the streets of our largest cities instead to receive medical and mental assistance… there are a lot of issues that might be connected to this problem that became serious in last 50 years since mothers are not staying at home with youngsters no more due to decreased value of dollar and a need for both parents to work in order to pay bills.

I have a 30 year old friend with 8 kids. A company would have had to pay her for an entire decade, to not work.
