I'm nowhere near as fast as you, but I have a YS3M, WRMV9 and GAN12 Maglev, and I agree with what you say. The GAN has slightly weaker magnets and the entire cube is lighter, so it seems good for max speed.
Fr man, Im actually looking forward to buy both 😂😂😂 my PC needs a foi poder bosst, and i need a new mais, my TV3 is amazing, but i need a secind cube anyways soo
I actually just switched back to the Gan 12 myself. Was maining the v9. Your reasoning matches mine. It was actually the 12UI that reminded me how good the 12 is. I also don't love how it feels, but you're right that peak tps should be higher on it even if only considering that the mass is a good bit lower. I hope it pushes your times down that much further!
@@CubeCube-os5ys they're all excellent cubes to be honest. I've been maining the gan 12 since my last comment and have no regrets. It feels like it's tougher to get really comfortable with but is very controllable and fast when you have it set up nicely and you're used to the lighter touch.
Lol it may takes some times to get used to but I promise It'll be really worth it, I literally just broke my PB ao100 with it (previously set on the wrm v9)
Yep I switched to the 12 eventually after maining YS3M and WRM V9. I got the 13fx but really ended up not liking it, but the 12 ticks all the boxes. And I agree I think it can handle fast turning more, for me it feels like the tactility of the turning is what makes it work so well with faster turning. It feels like as you dig in to the cube speed wise, as long as your turning is accurate, it kinda works against you a comfortable amount so that the speed is not nerfed but you still feel each turn clearly. Such a great cube
Finally preaching optimal cubes!!!🙏 Since 3x3 mech hasn’t advanced a ton recently, you gotta refine the other components to the puzzle and turning. Gan has done great to make low inertia cubes (ie lightweight cubes like the gan) that can be turned faster because you need to impart less force and so can accelerate the puzzle faster into turns! And then you got a corner to core that’s deep into the mechanism with huge magnets to increases the angle to which the puzzle will auto align. Gan is a solid cube designer but the anti pop design at loose setting isn’t as good as others. Only con is that and it’s annoying to lube, unless you use the exact lube I know you’re using on it😂 seriously all other lubes respond poorly over time.
@@BrinaSun keeps it fast for a lot longer than the other lubes👌 gotta be that it’s not water based and for some reason that makes a difference on gans plastic
Wow I didn’t think you would, I agree and I think I’m going to do the same thing, because I think it’s a great cube if you can get used to it. Btw what’s your settings I have tension 2 maglev 5
Keep in mind though that many of the top cubers (Yiheng, Tymon, Ruihang, Matty, Yufang, Leo, etc.) are all sponsored by Gan, so they may or may not use the Gan 12 if they had a choice.
0:12 i would also confuse the gan 12 leap over the maglev☠️☠️☠️so ill might be getting maglve since the leap gives me lots of lock ups and the maglev has my fav coating uv
i might get a gan 12 myself, when i get the money, however i like tighter cubes, so is the corner cutting great? i also do not like stable cubes, so is there anyway to make the cube slightly faster?
You can try looser settings, but the cube can feel somewhat flimsy on those settings but I still really like it. I have mine relatively tight which definitely sacrifices some corner cutting (vs say wrm v9 where corner cutting stays really good when it’s tightened) but I don’t mind slightly less corner cutting at all, if anything I prefer it as it encourages me to turn accurately. It is “stable” on tighter tensions but it’s still malleable enough for me personally, and I like to be pretty rough with my algs sometimes. As long as you’re ok to adapt around the cube a little, which for me was mostly just practicing my algs at a slower speed for better accuracy of turning, then it’s definitely a worthwhile purchase. I’ve spent heaps of time comparing it to the YS3M, WRM v9 and even Tornado V3 (pioneer) and I really believe it’s the best blend of stable and fast
Speed is not an issue though. I have the 13fx and it’s slightly faster out of the box but nowhere near as reliable and at times feels really shaky and locky. The 12’s speed out of the box is somewhere in between the YS3M and WRM v9. It’s definitely on the faster side (ie. closer to v9) but it’s a little slower. With lubing though you can really make it as fast as you want with fz rush or dnm. I use weight 4 and fz calm, sometimes adding done fz rush if it needs some extra speed
@@FriskyPotat0 as i said, i like tighter cubes(yes i read through all of that), having this weird turning style makes choosing a main harder, i mean the guhong pro is good and the closest thing i can find to fit my turning style, yet for some reason i get some small catches, and i dont like stable cubes
@@ClockSolver yeah I don’t really like the guhong pro, cuz like yeah it does feel pretty great but I get the same thing it catches a lot for me and feels kinda cheap, probably because it is. If you really aren’t keen on stability being as much of a thing but still want a high quality flagship main I reckon you’d really enjoy the wrm v9 bc or wrm v9 20 mag ball core that just dropped. The og v9 is more flexible but has much stronger piece to piece magnets, and the 20mag bc seems to be a bit more stable for some reason and has weaker piece to piece mags. I still recommend the gan12 because I also hated stable cubes for a while and now I love it, but yeah if not the 12 the wrm v9 is still like really insanely good if your looking for a flexy fast cuvbe
