    I like how he says 6" refractor is a small telescope, lol

    Wow, I have to get me one of those eventually, didn't knew it was so easy and inexpensive to do spectroscopy with modest equipment.

    Dude.
    THATS COOL!
    I get tired of all the yap yap astrophotography stuff.
    SCIENCE!

    Very very interesting indeed, and what beautiful colours, just the same as our gorgeous rainbow on Earth from our closest star.
    Tom: Can I buy the Star Analyzer 100 and the software either from an astronomy store in England or buy it from your rspec website store in the US from England?
    By the way, I am profoundly deaf and need to lipread, and thus I can commend you for being so easy to lipread with your excellent diction lol. I can actually SEE what you are saying if I turn the volume off at 3am to not disturb the neighbours lol. Thank you. Agape. Andrew.

    Would you consider building a mobile app to Rspec software?
    This would be easier for sidewalk stargazing activities since we wouldn’t be able to setup a laptop .

    Are there any optics in the grating assembly? or just the grating itself?

    Can you find exoplanets with the star spectrums using the radial velocity technique? It is bright enough for stars such as HD189733?

    • @FieldTestedSystems
      @FieldTestedSystems  5 лет назад

      Pratham: RV from exoplanets is very small. So the Doppler shift is very small. To measure at such a high resolution requires a slit spectrometer. Even with a slit, it's a very challenging measure to make.

      @@FieldTestedSystems Thanks appreciate it. Do you think I could do it with access to university observatory telescopes/spectrometers such as ARCSAT?

      @@prathambabaria5834 You'll have to ask the owners of those instruments about their capabilities.

    What would be a decent relatively inexpensive color camera I could mount on a 1.25 inch C8.

      Hi, Edward, For video spectroscopy, the ZWO ASI178MC is a good camera that can also be a lot of fun on the Moon and larger planets. I'm happy to answer any additional questions you may have via our site's contact form: www.rspec-astro.com/contact.

    200 dollars for the filter and another 100 for the software is too much for me, im just a student :( but I really need it

      100 line diffraction grating is WAY cheaper, just more awkward to mount to your camera

    is it worth the SA200 instead of SA100? there are double lines but at the end is it worth the SA200?

    • @FieldTestedSystems
      @FieldTestedSystems  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi, Patrick. For most users, the SA100 is the optimal grating. The SA200 is for special situations, as discussed here: rspec-astro.com/star-analyser-200/. Feel free to contact me directly via our site's contact form.

    Would it matter if there's chromatic abaration in your telescope? Would that give different results?

    • @FieldTestedSystems
      @FieldTestedSystems  3 года назад +1

      Hi, Abhiroop, Thanks for your astute question. Spectroscopy requires that a telescope have good color correction, either an APO or reflector typically.

    Soy neófito en la materia pero me recomiendan comprar el Star Analyser 100 para acoplar a mi cámara Nikon D3200. El filtro es más pequeño y veo que muestran una camara con él acoplada a un accesorio que desconozco. Alguien puede aconsejarme la forma de acoplar el filtro a mi objetivo, que es el estándar? Estoy en un grupo que está ubicando zonas donde se manifiestan anomalías luminosas a nivel superficie y me recomiendan utilizar esta rejilla para estudiar las emisiones luminosas. Les agradezco la orientación técnica.

      @FieldTestedSystems  3 года назад

      Para conectar una rejilla de difracción Star Analyzer a las roscas de la tapa de la lente de una DSLR, debe usar un adaptador AD-T2: www.rspec-astro.com/dslr-adapter/.
      Si su cámara no es una Canon, es posible que también necesite un adaptador de rosca, que se explica en la página anterior en una sección llamada "Adapter Rings"
      Si tiene más preguntas, puede contactarnos en www.rspec-astro.com/contact.

    All we know about universe is done like this , using light splitting methods then measuring that light , its 1920s tech or do astrophotography or DSO ,like Hubble space telescope , all things you can do in your back yard today , ppl half a century ago , believed they walked on the moon

    Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are. It certainly is not thermonuclear fusion in its core. Stars twinkle because they are spectral oscillators driven by super conduction. Throw away your texts for they are based solely upon conjecture and theory. Knowledge is power and knowledge is not to be given to the profane. If someone discovers the ultimate nature of the universe, you will be the last to be told. "Theories do not alter facts and that the universe remains unaffected even though texts crumble."
