I've only heard bad things about online shopping from BAM, especially from nonmembers. The in person store is completely different than the online experience. Highly recommend for anyone that has a BAM nearby, go in person!
my local bam is almost an hour away, i should try it i wanna try different manga shopping ways to see the experience. All i have done so far is barnes and nobles in person shopping.

I truly wish I did my research before ordering from them, I have been waiting since November for volumes 3, 4, and 5 of JJK despite it saying they are in stock online. I'm about to just cancel the order and get them off Amazon 😒
i’ve also ordered from here during the black friday sale back in november, some of the stuff didn’t arrive until like late january and I had the same issue with the dates being pushed back and the “limited availability” stuff. at some point they cancelled two of my orders so I asked them to cancel the third one because I didn’t mind at that point, but I never got a reply back from their customer service until like a month or two later when they *finally* shipped what I ordered saying “we can’t cancel it because it shipped” ??? it seems like unless you go in person their service is mediocre at best and i’d only go back if I was desperate or something. stuff sometimes came a little damage but nothing that bothered me too much but I agree, I wish they could send more things together ‘cause I also care about the environment :(
That sucks that they didn't get back to you until after they shipped it what the heck?? Like they just ignored you until it finally shipped 💀 and ya i bet their in-person shops are fine but i'm probably not going to be buying from them online as well, and yes!! all 3 of those first packages came from the same location and they sent them in the 3 parcels ... i always try my best to reuse boxes etc butit'ss hard to with those types of parcels that you have to rip open so even though they protected my books well it's kinda :/ .... the experience as a whole was :/ lol

I ordered from books a million and some of my manga came damaged (although it wasn’t severe) I ordered 4 volumes and they sent the first three together but separated one of the books which was in stock so that confused me. The last volume came about a week after the first three. The wait for me was about 1 and a half to 3 weeks
Lightly ouch....Thankfully most of it actually arrived :) . The only thing that makes sense is that BAM does not have a central warehouse. Instead have different distribution centres (probably the shops) and are sending the items from different places based on their in stock availability.....
Yes that is what i figured! The first 3 came from the same state on the tracking but I realized they have many stores like barnes & noble so they may not have been from the same warehouses
i use books a million for all my manga buying and i haven’t had a problem with them yet but it also maybe the location you got it from because i live in texas and the closes store to me is in grapevine, texas and that location had 5 and a half stars but overall i’m sorry that you’re order/experience didn’t go very well and i’m now a member their so if you want i can up date you on how being a member is different from being a regular buyer if you would like i just ordered from them yesterday so i can keep you updated

@@tsukkinotes upadate my stuff was ship on feb 12 and i order my manga on the 10 and it processed on the 11th and it’s scheduled to come the 16th but do to the snow it might not but i am supposed to get 7 volumes tomorrow so hopefully they come but if not it’s ok my bnha vol 14 is on backorder but the one i am worried about is spy family vol 2 which i order onJanuary 28 and haven’t gotten confirmation of back order or cancellation but they do get their next shipment of volumes on feb 23 so hopefully it’s on back order and they give me conformation for that other than that everything is great of course i never mind waiting cuz i bear ly order anything but yeah everything is great ( also the manga that may be on back order and the that is had low stock when i order so that means that have a limited online inventory for the manga because online inventory and in story inventory are separate)
I'm glad you were able to get your manga. On the site, it stated had several volumes of the volume I needed. I submitted my order and immediately got an email stated the volume was out of stock. I will be going to B&N to get the one I need. I will never order from BAM on the web. The stores near me had closed a few years ago. B&N for the win from now on. I'm debating about just canceling the order. UPDATE- 2/16/2021. I just tried to cancel my order. So if your order is in "Pending status", you get the following message " OOPS! The order cannot be canceled now: The order status is Pending.

yeah i had a bad experience with them too :( i ordered ao haru ride vol 1 in nov. and it was on backorder, it took them until mid january to let me know my order was being cancelled. i also had the same problem as you where it said "limited availability" on the volume that i had backordered, i contacted them and they just sent me an automated message on their backorder policy. and whats even worse is that when i tried looking for ao haru ride vol 1, it was suddenly out of stock everywhere, i could've bought it somewhere else if it hadn't taken them so long to get back to me.

You are so patient. I would be so annoyed at the separate charges. And on top of that, over 60 days?! Couldn't be me. I've only bought a single book from BAM, and it showed in stock, but they said it was backordered... but after I emailed them, it magically shipped. 👀 Overall pretty sketchy.
I had other manga to read in the meantime but it was quite annoying to have to wait for a lot of these volumes :/ and someone else said that happened to them as well omg maybe they just take their time unless you contact them??

Personally ordering from BAM it’s a different experience from being in the store than just ordering it- Since I live in Georgia in the US there’s one by me and it’s kinda far but not really but anyways the store is really big and it’s like Barnes and Nobles and their manga selection is huge! And I’ve only ordered once from only and no damage was done to the book and I’m still waiting for my other books to come in and it’s only been 3 weeks since I’ve last ordered 😃 but I think to go in person Is better so I have to convince my parents to take me in person now 😌
A few months ago I order 1-4 of hxh and they kept changing the times and volume 1 came in like- 3 months later. It said limited availability which I also thought that it was almost out of stock. I only ordered there because they had a good sale but I’m probably not gonna order from there again.
ya seems like you had a similar experience to mine :/ i'm happy that i got the volumes that i did, but it was just really annoying about the incorrect dates etc i would have preferred them to cancel them sooner instead of kind of false promises
as someone who also lives in California and therefore doesn’t have one near me and has a few mangas i was planning to buy from them that says limited availability... i think I’ll stick with Barnes and noble or rightstuf and just wait for it to go in stock again on those

I'm going in person this weekend, and going to a lot of other book stores as well, I'm honestly scared because they probably won't have anything I'm looking for.
The "Limited Availability" tag from BAM! is a bit of a misnomer. It means that the item is kept in such low quantities that they don't have an accurate count of how many copies are in their warehouse, if any. It might be in stock at one of their warehouses, but more likely than not they have to put in an order to the publisher. I am genuinely surprised they canceled the order for some of the volumes; they're only supposed to do that if, when they attempt to order it from the publisher, the publisher tells them they're not being printed any longer. HxH is still being printed; perhaps there was going to be a long delay on a restock, but it's still kind of shady to drop someone's order like that, particularly when the item was ordered during a sale period.
ya i have no idea what happened, it was just frustrating how they kept me hanging for months telling me different days when they would be expected to ship but then ultimately cancelling the orders :/
honestly wished i looked at the reviews before buying from BAM. i ordered jjk volume 1, in November and it still hasn’t arrived and i tried emailing them but they just redirected me to a site where most frequently questions are asked (which wasn’t any help at all) and when i try to look at the tracking number it says ‘error’ and i can’t even have my money back because it’s been months already :/
Hi i'm sorry you are having that experience :( if they haven't shipped your order that's probably why the tracking number says error, they should ship it eventually or cancel your order ... it's super annoying but ya they took months to cancel some of my volumes too after they just kept changing the "expected ship date" over and over

They also ship books individually in similar cardboard packages, but the paying process is much more simple. I'm still thinking if I'm going to pick up Spy x Family, as I wanted to order all 3 volumes together, but since then at least one or two volumes are always out of stock.😅

I'll try to snag those Spy x Family volumes, maybe next month when the 4th volume will come out as well. I'm not the biggest fan or reading books digitally, but maybe later I'll check out the app, as I've heard good things about it. I quite enjoy reading a physical book, especially after being on computer almost 24/7. Guess I'm more old-fashioned in that way.😄
@@elinapaeglite I'm not a fan of reading digitally either but I do use the SJ app for some longer-running shounen that I can't afford to collect physically (it's 2 USD a month for 100 chapters a day I believe and they have pretty much all the SJ titles on there so I think it is a pretty nice deal), but yes physical books are always the best

I already paid for one of my books that’s already shipped and I was so confused because it said the shipping was $3.99 for just one book but the total shipping was $5.97 altogether. If they do cancel my order they won’t take my money right? Only the one that got shipped will be paid?
Yes they only charge you when they ship it out, so when your other book gets shipped they should charge you the cost of the book and the rest of the shipping unless they cancel it. The $3.99 is like the "base" shipping charge and then each book is another $0.99
i've tried betterworldbooks and it was ok! the books are a little too used sometimes for me,, I'm in CA and we also have book off, but I haven't been able to go since quarantine and everything but I hope I can soon :)
I came on this video to look for people who ordered manga or books that have been back ordered. I ordered 9 books from BAM earlier today and received an email that 3 of them were back ordered. According to reviews, some orders never came for them. I spent about 80 bucks and I’m scared that I wasted that money. I reside in the west coast so I don’t know if that will guarantee if my order will ship or not. I know I shouldn’t worry right now since I JUST ordered it but I can’t help but do so since it’s such a hit or miss :((
Honestly as you can see from my experience... some of the backordered volumes i ordered never came and the ones that did took a couple months since they kept changing the "expected release" date or whatever ... they will refund you if they cancel the order / not take money out of your account so you're not wasting money just your time imo

I just bought the Tokyo ghoul box set thinking that the shipping date of June 7th would be accurate but I immediately got back ordered and am now slowly realizing that I need to decide between waiting a long time or just cancelling the order
They actually just open a store in my mall the in store service is great but I wanted to order online to just see how there shipping service is and when I tell you I had the same confusion you had with the payment and I ordered 3 volumes of banana fish and they said that volume 2 and 3 were in stock just not at my store and volume wasn’t in stock but I got volume 3 first in 2 week then I got volume 1 a month later and now I still wait for 2 and it been almost 3 months and also they changed the packaging the first package I got was like those boxes but the second package was like this thin box that had air sucked out of it and it just pressed against the manga (it also had me struggling to open it) so I’m just very eh about It don’t hate it but most definitely don’t love it.

ya i wouldn't risk it,, shojo beat did say they were reprinting volumes 1 and 2 of nana though so if you do want to order from BAM i would wait until it says they are in stock
man i didnt know bam was so bad so i ordered december 28 2022 and its february 22 and I have yet to get anything because they are lost in transit😕😕. had to order replacements and they still haven’t come either so im just getting a refund.

Yeah bookamillion is trash for me as well never again. Everything I brought said it was in stock than like more than half my order got cancelled

Personally ordering from BAM it’s a different experience from being in the store than just ordering it- Since I live in Georgia in the US there’s one by me and it’s kinda far but not really but anyways the store is really big and it’s like Barnes and Nobles and their manga selection is huge! And I’ve only ordered once from only and no damage was done to the book and I’m still waiting for my other books to come in and it’s only been 3 weeks since I’ve last ordered 😃 but I think to go in person Is better so I have to convince my parents to take me in person now 😌
oh ya for sure i've heard the in person store is great, i just sadly had not the best experience online with them

A few months ago I order 1-4 of hxh and they kept changing the times and volume 1 came in like- 3 months later. It said limited availability which I also thought that it was almost out of stock. I only ordered there because they had a good sale but I’m probably not gonna order from there again.
ya seems like you had a similar experience to mine :/ i'm happy that i got the volumes that i did, but it was just really annoying about the incorrect dates etc i would have preferred them to cancel them sooner instead of kind of false promises
as someone who also lives in California and therefore doesn’t have one near me and has a few mangas i was planning to buy from them that says limited availability... i think I’ll stick with Barnes and noble or rightstuf and just wait for it to go in stock again on those

The "Limited Availability" tag from BAM! is a bit of a misnomer. It means that the item is kept in such low quantities that they don't have an accurate count of how many copies are in their warehouse, if any. It might be in stock at one of their warehouses, but more likely than not they have to put in an order to the publisher. I am genuinely surprised they canceled the order for some of the volumes; they're only supposed to do that if, when they attempt to order it from the publisher, the publisher tells them they're not being printed any longer. HxH is still being printed; perhaps there was going to be a long delay on a restock, but it's still kind of shady to drop someone's order like that, particularly when the item was ordered during a sale period.
ya i have no idea what happened, it was just frustrating how they kept me hanging for months telling me different days when they would be expected to ship but then ultimately cancelling the orders :/
honestly wished i looked at the reviews before buying from BAM. i ordered jjk volume 1, in November and it still hasn’t arrived and i tried emailing them but they just redirected me to a site where most frequently questions are asked (which wasn’t any help at all) and when i try to look at the tracking number it says ‘error’ and i can’t even have my money back because it’s been months already :/
Hi i'm sorry you are having that experience :( if they haven't shipped your order that's probably why the tracking number says error, they should ship it eventually or cancel your order ... it's super annoying but ya they took months to cancel some of my volumes too after they just kept changing the "expected ship date" over and over

They also ship books individually in similar cardboard packages, but the paying process is much more simple. I'm still thinking if I'm going to pick up Spy x Family, as I wanted to order all 3 volumes together, but since then at least one or two volumes are always out of stock.😅

I'll try to snag those Spy x Family volumes, maybe next month when the 4th volume will come out as well. I'm not the biggest fan or reading books digitally, but maybe later I'll check out the app, as I've heard good things about it. I quite enjoy reading a physical book, especially after being on computer almost 24/7. Guess I'm more old-fashioned in that way.😄
@@elinapaeglite I'm not a fan of reading digitally either but I do use the SJ app for some longer-running shounen that I can't afford to collect physically (it's 2 USD a month for 100 chapters a day I believe and they have pretty much all the SJ titles on there so I think it is a pretty nice deal), but yes physical books are always the best

I wish I looked at the reviews before ordering 😭 I’m a little worried since I ordered on 2/24 cause I got 2 books that were limited availability. I already paid for one of my books that’s already shipped and I was so confused because it said the shipping was $3.99 for just one book but the total shipping was $5.97 altogether. If they do cancel my order they won’t take my money right? Only the one that got shipped will be paid?
Yes they only charge you when they ship it out, so when your other book gets shipped they should charge you the cost of the book and the rest of the shipping unless they cancel it. The $3.99 is like the "base" shipping charge and then each book is another $0.99

i've tried betterworldbooks and it was ok! the books are a little too used sometimes for me,, I'm in CA and we also have book off, but I haven't been able to go since quarantine and everything but I hope I can soon :)
I came on this video to look for people who ordered manga or books that have been back ordered. I ordered 9 books from BAM earlier today and received an email that 3 of them were back ordered. According to reviews, some orders never came for them. I spent about 80 bucks and I’m scared that I wasted that money. I reside in the west coast so I don’t know if that will guarantee if my order will ship or not. I know I shouldn’t worry right now since I JUST ordered it but I can’t help but do so since it’s such a hit or miss :((
Honestly as you can see from my experience... some of the backordered volumes i ordered never came and the ones that did took a couple months since they kept changing the "expected release" date or whatever ... they will refund you if they cancel the order / not take money out of your account so you're not wasting money just your time imo

They actually just open a store in my mall the in store service is great but I wanted to order online to just see how there shipping service is and when I tell you I had the same confusion you had with the payment and I ordered 3 volumes of banana fish and they said that volume 2 and 3 were in stock just not at my store and volume wasn’t in stock but I got volume 3 first in 2 week then I got volume 1 a month later and now I still wait for 2 and it been almost 3 months and also they changed the packaging the first package I got was like those boxes but the second package was like this thin box that had air sucked out of it and it just pressed against the manga (it also had me struggling to open it) so I’m just very eh about It don’t hate it but most definitely don’t love it.
i've heard great things about the store in person but i live nowhere near one lol but i agree their online store is just ... meh and frustrating at times

man i didnt know bam was so bad so i ordered december 28 2022 and its february 22 and I have yet to get anything because they are lost in transit😕😕. had to order replacements and they still haven’t come either so im just getting a refund.
