Another cutesy, well made, and completely obscure Capcom platformer based off of a largely forgotten license, Nemo - much like Willow before it - is a sadly lost classic that deserved far more attention that it ever got.
Oh how I wish for soothing rain. All I wish is to dream again. My loving heart lost in the dark. For hope, I'd give my everything. Oh how I wish for soothing rain. All I wish is to dream again. Once and for all and all for once. Nemo my name forevermore!
I was never even aware that the NES game was based off an arcade game until just now. I own (and love) the NES version. It's sad that Capcom has never released this and Willow on an arcade compilation.
In case you don't know. Little Nemo is based on a newspaper comic strip series by Winsor McCay (1866/1871 - 1934), who is also often credited as one of the first animators, also known for his another work Gertie the Dinosaur and Dream of the Rarebit Fiend.
What a great game! I rewatched the movie again after so many years then tried this out. It's surprisingly good with some great graphics, really captures the animation of the film well. Would've loved to see a SNES version.
I played the Capcom NES game as a kid and watched the animated movie. 🍵 King Morpheus, Princess Camille, and good old Flip! 🤖🤙 Lots of lovable characters and awesome storyline!
This is a great, and seldom seen game, with beautiful graphics and great music. However, the highlight of the game has always been the parodies of other Capcom games at the end.
Of the two games Capcom made based on Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland - This one has to be the closest in terms of adaptation. (I do like the film for what it is, despite its flaws - Personally I've seen and heard about much worse film projects/products that emerged from Development Hell. But whether everyone likes the film is another can of worms entirely) From what I did gather on trivia of this game, in a prototype version there were two more stages based on the film - One based on the sequence where Nemo slides down a HUUUUUGE banister and another based on the "Fun and Laughter" music number. Another piece is there are unused voice clips of the Nightmare King taunting Nemo. (But of course, it isn't that of Bill Martin, aka TMNT '87 Red Sky episodes' Shredder voice, but of the Nightmare King's seiyuu)
The fonts used in the game always reminded me of Chiki Chiki Boys, of course both ran off the same hardware I believe (CPS1). Even Tenchi Wo Kurau II and a few other Capcom arcade games used the exact same word fonts in them. The boss lifebars do remind me a lot of Chiki Chiki Boys however, and both are fantastic games.
The Police Station level comes from a scene that was present in the Japanese and International cuts of the film, but not in the Domestic one released by Hemdale.
I don't remember any promotion for the film at all. Internet says it released in the US in 1992, which is well after the NES game - which I do remember. There was a great Nintendo Power article about it, but I don't even remember that mentioning the film. I was also 16 in 92, and was definitely not interested in going to see a kid's movie at that point. It's too bad, too. The NES game is pretty fantastic.
28:10 - Bit of an unexpected yet funny reference there, Capcom. ;3 I must say, I wasn't sure quite what I was expecting here, but "Little Nemo's Slumberland Rampage' wouldn't have been my first guess.
I find obscure arcade games interesting. The company had to make the game then ship out big ole' arcade machines which couldn't have been cheap. Then hardly anyone even knows the game exists. I think similar things about console games too. When I look at some of the random crap that came out on PS1 I have to wonder how many copies could it have possibly sold.
Man, you're showcasing some arcade games that completely passed me by until MAME came around. Never saw or heard of this one till then. The only game I knew of was the NES game.
I think the NES version was better. Although I do see some similarities. The end cutscene music in that version was magic. Also, it was nice in that game to not have to fight a boss at the end of each level, but that train level sucked.
This kinda looks meh. I mean, it's entirely missing the most iconic element from the NES game - the transformations! Also the music is very underwelming compared to NES (though that's an unfair comparison, the NES OST is a masterpiece). I definitely think the NES Nemo is the better game here.
Alexa Remember me idk you but you know me sorry. Bem 4ever will be with us man. Bolt⚡⚡. No doble OO's for that one that one stayed there. Saddest thing of all time but i belive you man. Im happy overall i let that Go!!!. Thank God!🕊💙. The orgin and this game connects.
Absolutely boring, grindy game. Walk forward, hit things with your weapon. That's literally all you do. Zero gameplay variety or storytelling. Nice sprites though
AWESOME game!! It's just as good as the NES version! ...Except I don't think Nemo can feed drugged candy to creatures and then steal their bodies to use as transformations in this Arcade version. Oh well!
THERE WAS AN ARCADE VERSION?! I loved the NES game as a kid, the music STILL hits me with sad nostalgia. Always makes me think of my old man.
Omg that’s what I said! ✌🏾❤️😎

Nemo my name forevermore!
I played the old 80's NES version and thought it was a decent game.
You said right, pretty underrated! But I need more practice to get in a 1CC run. Hope my little assessment and trivia was to your liking!
I was never even aware that the NES game was based off an arcade game until just now. I own (and love) the NES version. It's sad that Capcom has never released this and Willow on an arcade compilation.
@@nickparsons337 - There'd be a TON of legal/licensing hurdles to leap over. TMS for Little Nemo and MGM/Lucasfilm for Willow.

Holy CRAP, I had no clue there was a Little Nemo arcade beat em' up.
I'm off to kickass as Flip, the stogie smokin' perverted clown.
(Impersonates Mickey Rooney)
"Frightfully friendly, frightfully funny."
Or however the quote goes.
That's the perfect soundfont for Disney Capcom's arcade games.
Funny you say that, because the composer for this game is the legendary Yoko Shimomura, who would later work on Kingdom Hearts.
What a great game! I rewatched the movie again after so many years then tried this out. It's surprisingly good with some great graphics, really captures the animation of the film well. Would've loved to see a SNES version.
THERE WAS A ARCADE????? How the hell could i have missed this!?

buenas maniobras nemo

4:12 As little Nemo takes out the bad guys one by one he starts to bathe in their blood and smile!
This is what it would look like if it had been released on SNES.
@ciaran perry Lol and you have to beat the game twice and get a special weapon
I had no idea there was a movie and cartoon hahahaha i remember playing the NES version around 1997
14:38 wow, the design of the Nightmare Land level was so good.
Una joya de videojuego , lo terminé sin complicaciones

Actually is "Mega Twins", and " Tenchi wo Kuaru II" is "Warriors Of Fate".
@@mathiastube4716Those four names are right.
I never knew Nemo got an arcade game.
The Police Station level comes from a scene that was present in the Japanese and International cuts of the film, but not in the Domestic one released by Hemdale.
I'll have to rewatch my DVD version and confirm if that scene exists. Because the one I've got is an uncut version released by FUNimation.
It's got some of the same power-up icons as UN Squadron! Also, for those who don't know, the music was done by the famous Yoko Shimomura.
That’s the result if it was released on Super Nintendo too ! Just beautiful ! 🤩
Great

The movie was released in Japan in 1989, and the games were based on that. The movie was released in the US in 1992

Lmao. I guess Nemo will keep fighting ... as long as evil still walks the streets.
Oh, Co- ... Nemo!
final fight 1
Nemo and the Magic Cattle Prod
I used to laugh thinking it was an electrified dildo
I had no idea this existed. Sad I never saw in arcade as a child. I played through Willow in arcade though.

Does anyone know if there’s any ROMS of this game?

Nes version LEAGUES better
i have feeling alot of musics are been remix and reused to other games
well video , this game looks very fun n.n

Damn, I just found out that there's an anime named Nemo. Looks good.
My childhood omg
very good !!wow!1
Why does Nemo look like a mildly concerned Harry Potter in a onsie?
This was a thing? Nice!
I played this on my fake PSP with my nintendo switch style! (😮)
Never a favorite of mine among CPS-1 games. High production values but a shallow (if still enjoyable) game underneath.
Pretty cool you can play as Flip in this one.
I am Nemo..
Nice
nostalgia
No lie but the train driver looks alittle bit like Nintendo s Wario.
Ah..... this game..... my quarters ran out even quicker than my patience while playing this game.
Thank goodness the NES version changed the music!! Ugh...
Not quite the NES version, that's for certain.
Instead of your name "ALX", you did puted "AIX".
Found it (Nemo)
