    I was so disgusted by tsc a few years ago. Their bare root trees had leafed out, end of season to sell them. It seemed like a waste. I offered 50% to take them all. They said they would rather put them in the dumpster and file a claim on them to get their cost back. So wastefull but it's the world we live in. Donate them to a local group and get some positive marketing, give them away, discount them. Don't trash them.

      Yeah that's pretty lame. I don't know why some businesses don't realize that losing future customers is more costly than money they may save today.

      I was told the same thing. I just drove by their dumpsters once a week and waited until til they threw them out and took them. I tried to buy them… but free works too! 🤷‍♀️
      I say win win! I got free trees they got to claim them as trash.
      I also do this for big pots.
      P.s has to be outside the dumpster or on top. I’m NOT getting in!

    Very informative video. To be clear, are those trees grafted with several types of fruit? I thought it was only done with one other. I have so much to learn. Thank you!

      Yes there are 4 different cultivars which will bear 4 different fruits from the same rootstock. Thanks for the nice feedback. So glad you liked:)

    I can't tell you how many bare root fruit tree I received that has NO, NONE, ZERO NADA feeder roots. They come with 1 or 2 'main' roots that are chopped off after 4 inches or so. I don't think a single one that arrive that way take. I naturally NEVER use the nursery again. They ones that come with larger root masses usually do better. I don't understand why don't nurseries take better care. Sorry for the rant this well done video triggered me.

    Hopefully someone stopped buying from them when the drag story hour came about not long ago.

      I had to do a search on this as I hadn't heard of this one! Seems like an odd promotion for a business that sells t-posts and chicken feed. 🤷‍♂️

      @@therealprtrhsenteal Odd isn't it. It's like they can't read the clientele. Let's not even go into the chicken feed that couldn't produce eggs.

    Thanks Porterhouse. Learned a lot. Wish I paid attention more when my dad was alive. He swore by bare root trees. Also did a bit of grafting as a hobby with his friends.

    Great video. I buy all my bare roots from a nursery. You get more knowledgeable staff like ya said. Also I research and read before I go too. That helps with understanding what they are saying.

    I’m looking to buy a bunch of trees. I went to Dave Wilson’s website. It says they don’t sell direct to consumers.

    • @therealprtrhsenteal
      @therealprtrhsenteal  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah they are only sell to distributors. Your best bet is to find a local nursery that is the "middle man" for commercial nurseries like Dave Wilson.
