I’m glad double click doesn’t remove the band that would annoy the hell out of me! Also you shoulda checked out the freq clash mode in multi eq display, total game changer. RIP Kirchoff eq 😁
I love how every new plugin from Fabfilter tells us how the evolution of their other plugins will likely follow. So exciting! And yeah, how can you not love this?
I've already bought the update. It's definitely better than Pro-Q3 and honestly I miss "only" one thing - a split into transient/tonal parts per band. I love this feature in SplitEQ and ToneBoosters Equalizer Pro and I was sure that Pro-Q4 would have it. Anyway, FabFilter EQ is still one of the best EQs in the world :)
I don't like the new ui as much : ( To be honest I dont love the proq3 ui either, I like to use a really small ui, and fabfilters stuff doesnt scale well small. Its designed to be big Yeah i wish the shift key would change the slope. The slope controls get hidden when you run it on a small size
Nice overview! One note/ about the review -> too much repeated complaining about the lack of slope control shortcut - it's not that important lol, just get over it. If they add it cool, if not it's just a small nuance which doesn't matter as much for most users (like me for example). I'm glad there's no unnecessarily complicated menu and options like in Kirchhoff - it keeps the whole UI clean, fast to use and overall user friendly. Double click to disable the band would drive me crazy personally because it happens sometimes accidentaly so I love the fact that you need to click X to get rid of the band - it's harder to delete your work by a mistake. EQ sketch feels a bit gimmicky to me as well but I like the fact that they don't allow for free drawing of EQ curve incredibly precisely because it will introduce so many eq points that the phase would be messed up completely. They way they implemented it makes it sound 100x better because there's less phase distortion and it's meant mostly for really fast broad tone shaping eq instead of fine adjustments. But it's in exachange for a precision of the drawing of course - there's some compromise made. That way it's more difficult to make the eq curve sound bad and phasey IMO but they could also implement "smoothing" option to let the user decide how accurate the curve will follow the mouse (how many eq points it will insert to match the drawing) - so there's some lost opportunity there indeed. You missed the feature taken from Pro-MB of a free sidechain per band which is huge because it opens up a lot of new possibilities. So summing up my comment I think that the decisions they made in the final product (Pro-Q4) were made very thoughtfully after hours and hours of testing different options and choosing what works best for most of the people while also caring about the sound quality and user experience in an incredible detail. I've bought the upgrade immediately, the price is very fair! Oeksound may lose some potential buyers after Fabfilter implemented spectral dynamics - it works really great! I'm a fan of this new version, really cool and big upgrade for a good price if you have Pro-Q3
Helllooo! What do you think about new Pro-Q4? Getting it? Sticking to Pro-Q3? Kirchhoff? Something else? Let me know down below!
i got Pro-Q 3 during Black Friday and got the upgrade to 4 for free, cool!
N A Y S !

to control the slope all you need to do is hit option + shift on Mac or Alt + Shift On Windows and click on the band Its actually pretty easy
Thanks, it works! Bus still, mouse scroll for precise slope setting is really something. I wrote to FabFilter guys with this feature request :)
COOL! I'll love it. Dyn EQ part seems to be the most significant development. Thank you for this review.
No probs!

Same feeling here :)
Great Show Paul
Thanks, James, good to see you again!

I also switched out Pro Q 3 for Kirchoff, spent this morning clearing out my template and replacing it with Pro Q4.
Whoah. Good to hear!
Guaau, genial revisión, muy a fondo y detalladas las funciones y prestaciones... de lujo! 👏👏👏👏
You said Kirchhoff EQ has saturation but it does not. It only emulates the curves of the analog hardware.
can you sidechain it to make the dynamic eq react to another instrument frequency?
Yes, you can!

True. Sorry to hear it's an issue for you...
This compared to Smart eq4?
Different beasts. SmartEQ4 is an AI driven, adaptive thing.
I also like kirchoff but darn think frezzes too much 🤷 and much cpu usage.
I don't know what your PC is, but Kirchhoff is seriously superlight on resources...
@FoliaSound Intel i9 13 gen 🤷 laptop
Hard to say what's up, but it definitely shouldn't be like that. Kirchhoff acts very stable and lightweight on each of my three studio machines.
@FoliaSound hmmm 🤔, I will see more into that then, thanks 👍
Laptop vs. Desktop. There is a whole universe between those CPUs. (And may be all the other hardware as well.)

You're right, my personal view was quite obvious here, but let's say I address it to other Kirchhoff userz, thinking about switching to Pro-Q4 :)
