It feels strangely sad to see a list once dominated by small, independent creators be taken over by big corporate channels and celebrities with preexisting brands. Some of those left behind *cough cough Fred* weren't necessarily the highest-quality content, but it does feel like RUclips has slowly lost its identity, going from a community to merely a platform.

You can tell when RUclips started to add their algorithm then suddenly all the cooperations and ads pay channel started to skyrocket. 2005-2009 was the best time.

05:59 the rise of T-Series, From 2017. In 2016, JIO started giving free data package to all. The results are obvious considering the number of online users in India.
