Makes sense. This is a localized Wii port of GT Cube which was a Japan-exclusive Gamecube title in 2003. It's also basically a 3D rendition of the GT Advance titles on the GBA.

reviewers at the time of release said the graphics suck. I imagine probably due to anti aliasing issues you get when you play it on the wii. I cant see any of the turns until the last second because of it. For me, that only adds to the enjoyment, but I understand their frustration. The game is actually a port of gt cube from the GameCube, which probably explains why reviewers felt graphics were outdated. They did say the controls were very nice though.
I bought this game because it looked a lot like Auto Modelista. I wasn't disappointed :-) I've also spent a lot of time playing gt advance 3 on the gba so it felt very familiar straight away. Definitely one of the more underrated games on the wii...
Back in 2008 as a little kid I loved playing car games on the Wii. I spent hours playing this game, need for speed nitro, and emergency hero's. Good times
Never knew how this game worked when I was little so I didn’t play it. My wii broke but I decided to bring the disc over to a friends cause the last racing game we played was unexpectedly good and omg I need to emulate this right now. I totally didn’t expect the soundtrack to be this good!
Ubisoft also published Import Tuner Challenge/Shutoko Battle X in the west so they probably like Wangan Midnight too. A damn shame that was also the final mainstream Shutoko Battle entry, though. Had some nice ideas going on but it's just way too easy and the car roster is miniscule compared to TXR3's. I can at least excuse the Wangan/Yokohane/Yokohama routes being absent since construction at the time prevented them from being scanned. We could really use Genki's racers in this era of modern racing game stagnance, though. AFAIK they're currently with Bandai Namco helping them scan routes for the Maximum Tune games or something along those lines.

The other day, I looked through the internet to find this game. I remembered renting it all the way back in 2008, and that it had a very cell-shaded appearance. Turns out that you made a video on it a couple days earlier, which I am now watching. I was thinking about getting this game again, but the reviews I found say that it is very shabby and “every car feels the same”. Would you say that’s true? Also, this game is a port of a GameCube game that goes by the name of “GT Cube”. I can’t find any differences between the versions other than the motion controls because 1. This game isn’t really documented much anyway and 2. The GT cube wiki page is basically empty. The only text is the area above the box with the game’s box art and info about the console it is on, release date, etc. Also turns out this game had some GBA installations that came out before the GameCube game. Very interesting how there is this much about some Wii launch game that seemingly has “influence” from Gran Turismo has this much backstory.
I played all 3 gba games and pro series. There is one new things in the Wii version, it has widescreen. It has nothing to do with the 2nd game, wich was a rally game but the menus are clearly based on the first one. The handling feels more simmilar to the one in the third gba entry, on it, the cars kinda felt different but not too much, but there were definetly some you could push harder, enough so you can feel a difference, i guess it's the same here on wii, idk, i only recently got it. In any case, i wouldn't worry about it, it has a really arcadey feel wich negates the need for cars to really feel different
When I played this like 15 years ago I didn't know there's arcade drift and thought it's somewhat realistic because I can't full throttle all the way like nfs

Make it cel shaded.
