- Compare different cheap car tweeters 2$ piezo tweeters against 7$ real voice coil tweeter. Is it worth it to spend the extra 5$ ??
Remember if you use piezo tweeters you need aditional 10w ceramic resistans or other voice coil speaker driver on the same chanal so you dont blow your amplifier! I dont use it here , but i dont use them long time and not max volume
TS T120 is a great set of cheap real tweeters. I had it for 2 years till now combined with sony xplod coaxial (mistakenly bought but superb), the sound feels nice, treble and bass nicely separated, no cringing sounds

@@224chingon i bought that on Atrium Plaza, Central Jakarta, Indonesia. There were many audioshop with many kinds of choice for audio things like tweeters, speakers, split speakers. I've replaced this with my new set of Sony GS series split speakers

i bought the 380 watt max version. They are wired to my coaxial speakers and they sound really bright. I'm powering the speakers with an amp so i expected to blow them first try but for my astonishment they endured the power. Really interesting. I'm very pleased with the purchase so far. For being so cheap, they can really take some power.
I almost bought the second pair of tweeters. The Tiaoping ones. Seeing your video, looks like i made a good decision in not buying them.
Yeah you don't seem to understand that these are different types of tweeter, and the piezo tweeter is made for different things than the traditional driver. Piezo tweeters aren't meant to play under 2khz, and often are constructed to play only over 5khz. They aren't going to sound good on their own, as that isn't how they are meant to be used. Do you often take a 12" sub and a 3" midrange and expect them to do the exact same thing? Of course not. Piezo tweeters are generally meant to compliment a system that is lacking in the 5khz to 20khz range.
I fully understand it , but people who buy them usually dont understand it and think that " a tweeter is a tweeter " . Thats why i made this video...
I dont know any real good use for a piezo tweeter .. not even in PA speakers does piezo tweeters any good. I compression horn is way better in that type of setup. The only decent and GOOD piezo i know about is the real vintage Motorola piezo tweeters.
piezo tweeters are cheap, high efficiency, high bandwidth. These tweeters are piezoelectric, with a cut in frequency, which filters the resonance frequency, has two coils that serve to maintain the impedance and function as a voltage booster transformer, allowing a significant increase in sensitivity. Unfortunately the efficiency of the tweeters used in this example are terrible, I have bought these tweeters last year and have the same experience as Tommy has ... these tweeters aren't advertised as piezo so to be honest it's a bit of a scam (but not worth the hassle for the lousy euro or dollar). Anyway, besides the narrow bandwith it isn't very efficient and if you hook it up to your existing car system it will not add anything besides the occasional hisssssss. Ps. Christian, try to do a google on piezo and select "images", almost all the piezo tweeters shown have a horn attached to it to compensate for the lack of efficiency so I'm not sure why you wrote that piezo's are "high efficiency"?

I liked the part when you opened each one to show inside... Great! nice video. but I should say this Voice Coil Tweeter has midrange capacity mostly than hi frequency. Not good if you want only the Hi frequency. And for those who are thinking all Piezeos are bad, not true. These are definitely shitt but there are Good sounding Peizo tweeters in the market. some works greater than voice coils.
The only great piezo tweeters i have tested are the vintage motorola piezos..

Honesrly judt replacing the built in capacitor to 1uf inside the piezo and attenuate it with a resistro it can be used as a sweet cheap super tweetrr

Hi, I received the 7$ voice coil tweeter yesterday from Amazon. In India it is sold in the brand name of I-Copper. surely there is a huge difference in audio quality. previously I had 2$ tweeters which I am planning to scrap now.

But mine doesnt have cus of my little brothe had cut them, 2 of them. the speaker still work but it's sound crappy and broken in other word the sound was not clear for both of speaker. Does the tweeter effect the sound?

the cheap tweeters sound better. they are made for what they are supposed to do. high frequency no bass. Make your ear hurt frequency. Blast those cheap tweeters from 2 blocks away and you could hear them type tweeters.
Nope. I disagree! They sound crap and are crap. The only desent piezo tweeters made are vintage motorola piezo drivers, (the new ones are not as good as the old ones) , and some of the expenciver professional piezo tweeters are OK , but you have to up in price. Piezo car tweeters are not good

Not a piezo hater , there is a few good more expencive piezos out there , and they can be good for some installations. But they are best for use in 4 way setups above lets say 10.000hz as a supertweeter , where a better dome tweeter (or compression driver in bigger systems) is used together with it covering the area between 1500hz and 10.000hz
@@tommystensland7016 the best tweeters are RiCom ring radiator drivers. 3khz to 50khz, no ringing and other breakup modes. comparable to good ribbon tweeters.

You're supposed to wire a resistor in series with piezo tweeters. If you can't be bothered to do that then I'd say this is not an obective test.
All this tweeters have integrated crossover. I have ceramic resistors that are supposed to be used with all piezo tweeters , but they do nothing to the sound , they only protect the amplifier from the rough impedance that is a major problem with piezo tweeters.
Those "real voice coil" tweeters are nothing to write home about either. They are balanced-dome tweeters, these tweeters are commonly found in cheaper car speakers and home stereos, with diaphrams/cones made out of mylar(plastic). Barely a step up from piezo tweeters.
Yes they are the cheapes voice coil tweeters on the market. But way better and safer to use (for the amplifier) than piezo

Also I find it highly amusing when car speaker manufacturers release speakers that they claim to be "3-way" with a balanced dome main tweeter and a coil-less piezo element. I mean that's just comical, because the sound that is produced by the piezo is highly negligible, especially without any resistance wiring coils or proper design. It's basically like they stuck a piezo element from a smoke alarm, onto a plastic dome. Such a scam.
