April, your design work and implementation of the build is amazing! This is going to be very beautiful. Thanks for explaining each step and how you’re using the materials! Hope you had a great weekend! Keep on building!
Good morning, April! Watching this video, your excitement is palpable. I can't wait to see the end product! Thanks for sharing another great video. Keep smiling! Have a wonderful week! God bless.
April, the first video I can specifically remember watching of your was the dog food dispenser. It's incredible, yet not surprising, how far you've come. You're a rockstar!
Looking better every video April, that loft is going to be a great get away place. You folks keep up the great videos and the fun that you share. Stay safe, Fred.
Thanks! I'm glad you like it. So cool to see a project I've wanted for years, come to life. Stay tuned for the rest of the Series. Thanks for watching.
As a designer and builder, over sizing the framing lumber is a great move. I would have been sure the ledger board was attached with at least 3 fastners (which you may have) to each stud and moved the 'joist spacing/layout' to attach to the ledger with joist hangers at the exact spot as the studs (ie: stack framing). However, your style is considered acceptable, my method is just another form of 'overbuilding'. Thanks for the video.
So, two things... 1- Its incredible to see how far you've come from "How to use a drill" to "How to do ridiculously awesome stuff." 2 - You totally carried two full length LVL's without struggle lol.
Hi April, I’m really glad I found your channel. A lot of videos on what I want to do with my first property, that is suppose to close very soon. 😅 Can you give some pointers on permitting things like this. Do you get them? Do I need them? I am a bit confused on that front. I see a lot of cool things being built everywhere by people on RUclips, but nobody explains the permitting part. Maybe I’m overthinking it. Any help will be appreciated 🎉❤

While cutting holes in your walls may be a little scary. ( I know it would be for me. ) I love the fact that this doesn't stop you, or even slow you down April. You just get it done one step at a time. Which makes your dreams, become reality!
Did you take into consideration the fact that lvls do not shrink? You real wood joists will loose height as they dryy becoming uneven with the LVLs causing a hump in the floor
So handy! I don't mind modern technology. Everything can't all be hand saw and screw driver. I like power tools. Gets the same job done and a lot quicker. Thanks for watching.
I love your videos and always learn things but it kills me to see you attach joist hangers before putting the joists in place. Not a huge deal for an indoor project like this but I've seen you do it on an outdoor deck using PT pine. Weird.
Is there anything more pleasing than to see other people work Only thing you need is a "Gravity Neutraliser" so you can remove the post but that device does not exist yet so you have to invent one Looks great, great video to follow, carry on !
As a framer, I will say if you’re using conventional lumber on LVL, hold the conventional lumber a bit high to allow for shrinkage to avoid humps later. Shouldn’t be an issue in your application. Just something to think about
Having the wood grain all going the same direction absolutely does NOT make it stronger plywood of the same thickness is ultimately stronger grain all going the same direction will Warp That being said the fact that plywood is glued together is always a problem for delamination
@jaydouglas1090...Name those building codes/regulations she hasn't met or exceeded that are revelant to her city, county, state and federal goverment agencies....if you can! A no response means you don't know what you're talking about!
Great job. Awesome idea to reuse materials showing great planning and reducing waste 😊
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching.

Did you secure the other LVL to the header boards or just one of them?
Your awesome! I love watching your videos.

Permits depend on where you are and what the project is. Always make sure with your County what needs Permits. Thanks for watching.
Hallo April und danke für deine Info und tschüss aus Düsseldorf Germany 👍👍🏠🏡🛠️🇩🇪🇺🇲🌈😁
Glad you enjoyed it. Greetings from Texas!
I just gotta ask, did you say that the lags go in "smoothlessly?" 😊

Very cool!👍🏾
Thanks!
If I use LVL's, for single pitch roof spans of 18' inside, How big do they need to be and how far apart? snow country-cabin.
Great Minds Think Alike April! I always over engineer my projects too. 🤣😉
Love that! Yes, I'd rather over engineer than under engineer. Thanks for watching.
FUN!
It truly was! Thanks for watching.

As a sufferer from acute acrophobia, I find this project terrifying. But still quite interesting.

Jenna Phipps gave Nick one…
Please read building codes before doing your projects. You already have a few issues that don’t meet code.
Building codes can vary from state to state
What are the issues?
