This was the first song I ever heard from Marc Broussard. Man. That big voice and swampy feel. It's irresistible. He has matured into one of the best soul singers I've ever heard! Just rediscovered him lately and I'm blown away.
I heard this song shortly after it was released. I am just as impressed with it today as I was 15 years ago when it was released. Marc is a man of immense talent, and this song is an incredible homage to traditional Southern Rythm and Blues.
My granddaddy just passed. He was a real Cajun. His parents couldn’t speak a lick of English. This reminds me of him. I now love this song in a very different way. Thank you, Marc.
mobilemidlifecatharsis run riot, "... It will blow your face off. ..." My face already ain't much to look at, but Ikinda' like it right where it's at. ;-)
Booked tickets to see marc in London in October, please god this covid 19 will not be around in October, we can't wait to see him sing, i discovered marcs music about 6 months ago, i wished i had heard of him much sooner, i am English so really i should not understand and get marcs music, but believe me his music gives me a buzz, keep your music coming marc, see you in October 2020
Im a straight up 68 yo former ghetto black kid from Boston and ive Always loved Marcs music and had the opportunity to meet him. What a Cool Dude . Fast forward i live in So.Florida and go out of my way to see Marc when he comes here in Boca Raton. Love tnis Dude and his band !!!
I'm a 17 year old. I like Lil' Wayne. I like Slipknot. Hell, I even like Rage Against the Machine. But this song is, by far, my all-time favorite song of them all.
I've loved this kid for ....like 20 years now, or close to it and I thank the Lord nobody ruined him and he still has his values, faith and SOUL!!!! Thank y'all so much!!
Heard this many years ago. What a sound. For sure I thought it was an African American man singing, I bought the CD back then... To this day, not sure why this song didn't get more recognition. Amazing vocals, soul, sound - the whole thing.
I just found Marc two days ago. Home, Cry to Me, and Change the World are my favorites and I have watched each maybe 40 times......Love this man! I even listen to this at work....can't get enough of Marc!
2021, I was in the hair salon and almost jumped out of my seat when I heard this come on. I love that they’re playing it, but why are people sleeping on this fucking amazing song? Even back then! I don’t know what powers that be that kept this from where it should have gone, but I hope that Marc knows we love him and appreciate it.
Oh hell yeah !!!! This guy is a very old soul...hahahaaa been on this rock several times... Powerful song ,,,,,Wow , I get this song man, Time to get back home, it is calling sayin " Come Home Boy and Bump and Grind all the way....!!!! " Home is Texas BTW near Louisiana ..
My 4 year old son requests this song EVERY TIME we get in my truck - he says "Play Marc Broussard!" because that's what I tell Siri and she always starts with "Home". Such a great tune with a great beat and rhythm. I need to post a video of him bouncing his head and singing along in his car-seat.
My late husband and I ran across this song quite by accident when we bought a mixed song CD...we both absolutely love the song and the singer. What an awesome talent he is ❤❤
Found this after hearing it on the promo for Monday Night Football. This is GREAT music! This is the kind of stuff that needs to be on our radios instead of the garbage we are fed. Anyone have any more artists like this I can listen to.....would be greatly appreciated. Marc Broussard..............Fantastic!
I absolutely love Mark Broussard and his band. I think though the song "Home" with its' infectious beat is the best song they've come out with so far. Everytime I hear it, no matter how blue I am, I can't help but smile within seconds of hearing the first few beats. Thanks guys you make my soul sing!
Is it me or does it not sound the same as it did? I remember so much more grit and soul then what I am hearing now. I use to sing this a lot and now I am completely off. This just doesn't sound like I remember it to
Our families actually know each other pretty well. My mom was Marc’s baby-sitter when he was little. It so cool to see such great music from someone you know so well
I scrolled and scrolled for lyrics, but surprisingly nobody has posted them yet, so here: "Rolling down the road, going nowhere, Guitar packed in a trunk Somewhere around mile marker 1-12, Papa started hummin' the funk I gotta jones in my bones before they know, We were singing this melody Stop the car pulled out the guitar, Halfway to New Orleans Said take me home Take me home Could feel the sun about to rise, When I realized we had nothing to fear It's just me and my daddy and a kid named Cope, Making music that nobody would hear And then the sun let up and it split the night, Spillin' over our jubilee Ten thousand cars by the side of the road, Groovin' far as the eye can see Said take me home Take me home Said take me home Said take me home This Greyhound is delta bound mama, Baby boy finally found, Said this Greyhound is delta bound mama, Baby boy done finally found his way home Said take me home Here we go, Hot damn you should have felt the groove, Like I was swimming in a sea of soul The sun was rising and the day was hot, And we was all about to lose control My daddy turned his face up towards the sky, And I knew that there was nothing to lose I felt the crowd breathe in and I closed my eyes, And we disappeared into the groove Said take me home Said take me home Take me home Said take me home Straight from the water Straight from the water, children Straight from the water Straight from the water, children Straight from the water Straight from the water, children Straight from the water You don't know nothin' about this Take me home Said take me home Said take me home Said take me home Said take me home Said take me home Said take me home take me home Said take me home Said take me home........
So happy Ray sang this song on The Voice! Marc Broussard is such a great artist and deserves so many more fans. Been listening to this song for years, so happy others get to hear this awesome song as well.
This is seriously one of THE BEST songs ever made...i was lucky to be in a bar with my man and somebody played it....i had never heard of Marc Broussard..we proceeded to listen to his music for the next 3 nights.. he is AMAZING!!
The difference in his looks!! I thought can't be who I've been listening to is the same Marc on here, but cannot mistake that strong soul sound from him.💖
How in the hell does this only have 3.5 million views? This young mans voice is amazing, this song is amazing. Love your music, Mr. Broussard. Thank you for giving this to us to listen to.
I still get chills every time I play/watch this. Can't believe it's been 14 years already. My regular YT name is Otis (Redding)Fan#1, so I've been steeped in soul music for 60 years. Marc, you can stand tall with the best of the genre. Bless you and all of your fans.
Alright 8 year old DJ (although I'm thinking you might be 10 now) I just wanted to say hello and let you know that your message has reached me as far away as in London, England. Have a good one and keep listening to good music and doing the things you love doing.......And be good for your Mum too, although I'm sure you are anyway. :)
GO see him LIVE! His drummer Chad, and guitarist Joe (seen at the 2:49 minute mark clapping in the crowd in the green shirt) are awesome musicians and great people! I have seen Marc and his band 14 times. Worth every penny!
omg i just rediscovered this song. i was so obsessed with this album when i was a junior in high school back when it dropped! i'm glad he's still touring and has a music career. to think he was like 22/23 years old here. incredible!
Had to come back after hearing it on The Voice tonight. I've loved this song since it was first released. Marc has a AWESOME sound. You just gotta move when you hear this start up.🖤✌
I remember when this song first came out, I was obsessed with it and played it over and over again. I remember wishing I knew the sub genre so I could find more artists with that swampy sound. He comes to Boston in exactly a month and I can't wait to see him live!
My mom used to play this every time we took the journey from VA to WV to visit our Family etc.. because it's what we always collectively referred to as "home", now as an adult "home" is an entirely different place but this song still rings true to my heart and soul and makes me yearn for those times as child when I would hear this on the journey and get excited to see the family I barely ever got to see. This song truly is amazing, and connects with more than just your mind or ears.
I first heard this song sung by a college a'cappella group back 8 years ago. I used it as a singing and breathing exercise to regain my lung and O2 strength and levels and my voice after being in a medically induced coma for a week. Been trying to figure out who sang it originally ever since. One of the reaction channels I watch just reacted to it recently solving my nearly decade long search. Great song and incredible voice.
Luckily I got to see him last year at the Capital theater in Clearwater. Amazing show - had the entire audience on their feet dancing at their seats by the end of the concert. Smaller venue and inexpensive tickets, gotta feeling those ticket prices are probably climbing! He's amazing!!!
I love him so much. His voice is like liquid GOLD. I just wanna meet him at least once in my life. A true talent that doesn’t get enough recognition it my opinion.
Marc you are amazing! Keep writing more music like this, with lots of soul. I'm a native New Yorker who now lives in Los Angeles and this music soothes my soul, so unique. Nice to see a "white boy" with soul in this day and age. We love all your stuff, but I must admit this is my favorite, keep going. We have kids your age, but your music inspires us that the younger generation is not totally lost to commercialism. Keep on going!!!!!!!!
I`m huge into Luther Dickinson and Anders Osborne, and Love JJ Greys music....... But Marc blew me away last night with Southern Soul Assembly !!! I WILL BE checking more out by this soulful singer ! If you get a chance to see Marc with the other 3........GO and ENJOY !
This is such a great song and video. Why the hell would anyone dislike this?! I bought this CD after I saw him perform on some late-night show, I think. Good stuff!
Some songs never get old. This is One. Thank you, for making a song that always gets me back on what's important, good sir. You and your dad are truly gifts to the world.
Why can't I buy this version of the song anywhere? Everywhere I go to try and buy it I find some toned down live version or a different performance. They're good, but this version is pure gold. Dammit Marc take my money!
My wife turned me on to Marc, you can here the that Louisiana Blues, that down home Soul of the South in his voice. He will be around (& has been around for well over a decade) a long long time. This man must come from a family with a strong Southern Rock& Blues background. Moved him to the top of my playlist both here and Apple Music.
nicest guy you'd ever wanna meet. i met him after a show....all the crowd was on one side of the stage.....he came out on the other side just to meet me. had a few beers and talked and he signed some stuff....then he went back and went back to the other side to get swamped.
Long ago when my wife and I heard "Home" for the first time our jaws both nearly hit the floor at the same time. This was devastatingly good back then, but the real beauty of it, is that it's every bit as good every single time either of us give it a listen, and we do that very often. Just remarkable. Plus, everything on the S.O.S. albums is a true tribute to the original artists as well as the amazing soulful voice of Marc Broussard. Just thank you, thank you is all we can say.
16 year old girls run the entertainment industry in this country ( Bieber and all that other pop crap) Thus great songs like this dont get the attention they deserve...
I probably found this in the weirdest way: I was googling my father (Marc Broussard) to see if I could track down why he had spent most of my life in prison and kept running into this guy. Now my dad has a favorite musician and I can’t complain: this song alone justifies his existence.
WOW! I finally got to see Marc live in Tallahassee this past weekend. This guy is 100% pure TALENT! And his stage show is just as tight and on time as all his studio work. Check your local listings on his website. I plan to see him again before he wraps this tour. He is electrifying. You will be moved.
OUT-DAMN-STANDING, son! Still sets the bacon to bouncing in the frying pan, all these years after the very first time we heard it! It took only one time hearing it on the radio back then, and we had the CD here to wear-the-hell out! Keep on keepin' on Marc Broussard!
This was the first song I ever heard from Marc Broussard. Man. That big voice and swampy feel. It's irresistible. He has matured into one of the best soul singers I've ever heard! Just rediscovered him lately and I'm blown away.
Same! I agree 100%!
It was my first and favorite song of his too! You described his voice exactly on point!
This is the first song I heard from him too. I was lucky enough to hear him at the River Fete in Alexandria Louisiana.
So talented… a joy to listen to
Also a first-y here! Today. This song... Fabulous! I'm excited for him to come to Jackson Hole in June 2024 💥
Marc is finally getting recognized on a bigger scale the last few years! SO HAPPY FOR HIM and all his new fans!
I heard this song shortly after it was released. I am just as impressed with it today as I was 15 years ago when it was released. Marc is a man of immense talent, and this song is an incredible homage to traditional Southern Rythm and Blues.
Hello Fan, How are you doing? Thank you for liking my pages and shows It’s nice meeting you and Thanks for supporting my Dream and career.

My granddaddy just passed. He was a real Cajun. His parents couldn’t speak a lick of English.
This reminds me of him. I now love this song in a very different way. Thank you, Marc.

Try Ray LaMontagne, Joe Purdy, & Chris Stapleton (he's mainstream now but amazing).
Thank you. I haven't heard of either but will do it today. Just started with Joe Purdy's Wash Away. Love it.
Staying up late listening to the web, and decided to play this again after listening to some Owen Campbell

THANK YHWH! I FINALLY FOUND IT AFTER YEARS! I LOVE THIS SONG!

Is it by any chance you are remembering the a capella version with transit I found this one from that after years of trying to find it

Lauren Buford we know him well too, haven’t seen him in years
❤
Holy Jesus! One of the best songs I've heard in my lifetime!!!!!
Me too
Damn Strait!
I scrolled and scrolled for lyrics, but surprisingly nobody has posted them yet, so here:
"Rolling down the road, going nowhere,
Guitar packed in a trunk
Somewhere around mile marker 1-12,
Papa started hummin' the funk
I gotta jones in my bones before they know,
We were singing this melody
Stop the car pulled out the guitar,
Halfway to New Orleans
Said take me home
Take me home
Could feel the sun about to rise,
When I realized we had nothing to fear
It's just me and my daddy and a kid named Cope,
Making music that nobody would hear
And then the sun let up and it split the night,
Spillin' over our jubilee
Ten thousand cars by the side of the road,
Groovin' far as the eye can see
Said take me home
Take me home
Said take me home
Said take me home
This Greyhound is delta bound mama,
Baby boy finally found,
Said this Greyhound is delta bound mama,
Baby boy done finally found his way home
Said take me home
Here we go,
Hot damn you should have felt the groove,
Like I was swimming in a sea of soul
The sun was rising and the day was hot,
And we was all about to lose control
My daddy turned his face up towards the sky,
And I knew that there was nothing to lose
I felt the crowd breathe in and I closed my eyes,
And we disappeared into the groove
Said take me home
Said take me home
Take me home
Said take me home
Straight from the water
Straight from the water, children
Straight from the water
Straight from the water, children
Straight from the water
Straight from the water, children
Straight from the water
You don't know nothin' about this
Take me home
Said take me home
Said take me home
Said take me home
Said take me home
Said take me home
Said take me home
take me home
Said take me home
Said take me home........
Ty 😅😂

My boss introduced me to Carencro in 2006. Have seen seen him in concert a few times since then. Still digging him in 2024.
Sounds just as good in 2020 than it did the day it was released.

I remember the first time I heard this......
I was BLOWN AWAY then and now, hearing it for the first time in a long time, I am BLOWN AWAY all over.
Dude is gold, Drambuie smooth gold, band is tight and right. I miss the big easy right now, so much great music down there.
nicest guy you'd ever wanna meet. i met him after a show....all the crowd was on one side of the stage.....he came out on the other side just to meet me. had a few beers and talked and he signed some stuff....then he went back and went back to the other side to get swamped.
I first heard this song, in a waiting room for my first cancer treatment. It's been a dozen ish years now. On that day, I was prepping to go home.
Hello Fan, How are you doing? Thank you for liking my pages and shows It’s nice meeting you and Thanks for supporting my Dream and career.
OMG ..Marry Me
16 year old girls run the entertainment industry in this country ( Bieber and all that other pop crap) Thus great songs like this dont get the attention they deserve...
Marc Broussard's got that soul
What a great song! I've always had trouble finding it. I'm going to favorite it this time so I never lose it again!
I probably found this in the weirdest way: I was googling my father (Marc Broussard) to see if I could track down why he had spent most of my life in prison and kept running into this guy. Now my dad has a favorite musician and I can’t complain: this song alone justifies his existence.
Watching this in 2019. I can't believe it's Marc. I haven't recognized him without a beard. Still awesome as always.
WOW! I finally got to see Marc live in Tallahassee this past weekend. This guy is 100% pure TALENT! And his stage show is just as tight and on time as all his studio work. Check your local listings on his website. I plan to see him again before he wraps this tour. He is electrifying. You will be moved.
Why is he not famous?? He is soooo good!!!!
His voice, the melody, wow 🙏🏻
Underrated song…should’ve been a big hit
Judging from the thumbnail I wasn't expecting him to sound like that. He killed it!!
OUT-DAMN-STANDING, son! Still sets the bacon to bouncing in the frying pan, all these years after the very first time we heard it! It took only one time hearing it on the radio back then, and we had the CD here to wear-the-hell out! Keep on keepin' on Marc Broussard!
Yes and Amen ☀️
Great song! I have relatives in Carencro (2:59). I think I'll head back home.
I've never been there but this song and video just conjures up the whole vibe of the Deep South for me. Love it.
Love it!! Why this guy didn't become more popular is a mystery to me. Good old fashioned Delta Blues. Yeah!!
He kept his SOUL
The man can wail! Amazing.
I have been looking for this song for a long while, and then bam, here it is🥰 The universe is crazy wonderful 🌼
