The way Larry and Rose, the authorities of ALL PEOPLE, are on the STUPID side, or at least ACTING STUPID, thereby getting poor Kate all hot under the collar with them, yes it does have a way of having humor in it. All Kate wants them to do is go over to their house to check on their 8 year old son who’s there all by himself and yet Larry wants to do it THEIR way, by asking a bunch of questions first, if he’s swallowed any poison, been in an accident, blah blah blah, until Kate finally snaps: “NO!! It’s not that at all! I just want you to go over to the house, just to check on him to see if he’s all right!” Larry:”Let me get this right, lady. All you want us to do is to go over to your house, just to check on your son?” Kate: “YES!”(at the top of her lungs.) She might as well have added,”Very good for finally getting it right, Sesame Street level learner!” I can totally relate to how she feels, exactly to how she feels, from “Someone please pick up! PICK UP! NOW!!!” and of course how she must feel when she keeps having to say,”Look, I’m calling from Paris,…” I know JUST the feeling, anytime I call such a place where I want to place an order, file a complaint, whatever, and I keep getting put on hold and have to KEEP repeating myself, explaining why I’m calling, until they FINALLY get me to the appropriate person. SO VERY frustrating, and YES, when the people who WORK there, of ALL people, do not even know what in Sam Hill they’re doing, the wretched turkeys.
I really feel like the director was like “alright kid, scream and yell and holler and act like a goober” 😂👏🏻 And McCulley bein a kid was like “okay, cool!” 😂
Right after Kevin exclaims “I’m not afraid anymore!” I like to pretend we hear a voice(Old Man Marley’s)saying “Good for you,” as he shows up right in front of Kevin. Then as Kevin screams in terror and bugs it out of there back into the house and into his parents’ bed, we can sense JUST what Old Man Marley must be thinking(towards Kevin),”I thought you just said you weren’t afraid anymore!” Furthermore, I know this is only a movie and that Kevin’s fleeing Marley and bugging into the house when he did was only done for comedy, but if only he had NOT gone outside-THEN when he heard that knock at the door-ultimately cousin Heather would have been like “YES! I KNEW I counted ELEVEN kids! So that’s the answer here!” Of course what she never knew was that the kid she had included in the count of 11 was not Kevin to begin with but “the little nosy boy next door, Mick Murphy, who came over that morning to see what all the commotion was about,” (she had touched him when he wasn’t looking.) Of course, in the book based on the movie, on the fight over when they suddenly realize Kevin is missing, that’s when Heather says “I don’t understand it; I KNOW I counted eleven kids.” But anyway, we know all this was done simply for comedy-ending with the officer saying,”Nobody’s home; tell them to re-count their kids.”
FYI Officer Balzak is Larry Hankin who you might remember him as the guy who took the raisins in Seinfeld and played a secondary Kramer in the episide "The Pilot"
Larry Hankin, you say? If I’m thinking of the correct actor I believe he also guest starred on a couple of Laverne and Shirley episodes. He played their foreman Biff in a season 4 episode (Milwaukee days), whom Laverne blind dated with while Shirley was out of town, and during their date while they were alone he threatened her; in fact after hearing his voice I even recognize it. Another L and S episode he guest starred on was from season 7(California days), where he played another “bad guy” for Laverne while on a date-a guy named Hank, who turned out to be MARRIED(which he NEVER even said boo about), yet kept twisting things around to make it seem like Laverne already knew this, which she did not. (An affair to forget is this season 7 title, and the title of the aforementioned season 4 episode is either The Bully show or A date with Eraserhead, I think “The Bully Show”, but I’m not sure.) At any rate, Larry Hankin seemed good at playing “bad guys.”
1:33 hahahahahaahha. Home Alone is an enjoyable movie for adults just as much as kids. This movie is a treasure but some plot holes.... If the door was unlocked when Kevin ran away from Marley, why did the police officer knock instead of just entering and when Kevin phones the police about "a house being robbed" two police charge inside but when Kate phones about a missing son/home alone there's only one bumbling cop who determines there's no one home?

The policeman in the scene after this one is so stupid! The lights were on when he came to the house, that should be an indication that there is someone home! And he should have yelled out “Police! Open up!” ruclips.net/video/yn02KwfCdAk/видео.htmlsi=5HJxGrTDwkFvMdkp

Megan was the same way in the apartment. didn’t see Jeff react that much. but there was a deleted scene where Peter and the other kids couldn’t sleep, while buzz was just snoring his head off.
This was by far one of our favorite hilarious scenes here.

@HuYoaDaddydid the studio cut this in a home alone deleted scene in 1990 at the studio in Chicago
He is also Carl who plays as Billy Madison's trusted friend
The way Kate acts while on the phone with the police is the typical reaction of any terrified parent terrified for their child's safety.

Hankin is great in anything he does!
I remember watching him on that Halloween episode of Home Improvement and Friends.
I remember seeing him in Escape from Alcatraz, Armed and Dangerous, and National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation. He is really great
