  • Ian hendry absolutely excelled as Albert the tally-boy selling goods to gullable housewifes on the never-never. The film really encapsulates the post-war mood of the early 1960s. This little sequence was a comic look at all the stock standard sales ploys are brought into play. Live now pay later was one of the popular 'kitchen sink dramas' of the day.

    brill 1962 film this opening scene as the bedford ca van comes down the street is in milton rd luton where i live....cheers julian

    hi julian, thanks for your info. just got a copy from ebay tonight! on dvd , not a real copy just a recording from a video. cant wait to see this classic again..

    @madonhifi - To my knowledge LNPL is not available on DVD. Over the years it's been shown on TV, so you may find someone who's made an off-air recording. And yes it is better than Alfie - it's one of my favourite films, a classic parody of the early 1960s.

    @madonhifi You'll definitely enjoy the flick - I watch my copy regularly. A brilliant piece of satire. Do read the book as well by Jack Trevor Story. It's a trilogy that goes well beyond the film story, and very witty.
