The IHRA was getting a handle on its television package headed into its second season on ESPN. Without Top Fuel in the show, the IHRA put all of its eggs in one basket with the Funny Car division and utilized its proven formula of unlimited displacement Pro Stockers to further fill the void left in the absence of the long and skinny race cars.

I was at this event . Edgewater is my hometown track . I wish they could go back to these type of races. Now it's only 8th mile. I miss the days of 1320 run what you brung. I hate this 8th mile crap , I'm not real fond of 1000 ft , but what can you do.

The ihra commentators were always behind in terms of knowledge compaired to the nhra in my mind.
Obsessed with mph when it's ET that's king and saying the funny cars change gear 3 times on a pass.

well that's because Diamond P announcers were also NHRA announcers. The IHRA announcers were motorsports announcers sent to cover drag racing.
