  • Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, the first Black person to hold statewide office there, spoke on the second night of the Republican National Convention on Aug. 25, 2020. In his speech, Cameron criticized former Vice President and Democratic nominee Joe Biden for his comments on race, including his statement that people who vote for President Donald Trump “ain’t black,” and for suggesting that there is “no diversity of thought in the Black community.” Biden came under fire earlier this month for an interview in which he suggested that the African American community is not as diverse as the Latino community. He later backtracked these comments, tweeting, “In no way did I mean to suggest the African American community is a monolith-not by identity, not on issues, not at all."
