As a Brit I can confirm that Tyrion's accent is completely ridiculous. Especially in the scenes with Charles Dance (Tywin, Tyrion's father) who is a famous English theatre actor. I'm glad Americans are starting to notice lol
I think it was a pretty good effort, given how bad they usually are at the accent. Also technically he's not actually playing a British character so the accent isn't technically British, just that's clearly what he was going for. But it still works in the show not being a spot-on accent as we don't know what a Lannister would sound like

They even apply royal pronunciation and London working class accents to all the Southerners in Kings Landing but Yorkshire accents to all the Northerners. This is an exact copy paste of England and reflective of the regions being separated by accents as they are in England. Not to mention that GRRM's greatest influence for the books was the War of the Roses, the most famous civil war in English history before Henry 7 won and took the throne Peter Dinklage just had a bad English accent.
