RM -. Lyricist , bars for days
J hope - melodic rapper
Suga - emotional rapper , you can really feel emotion in his rap
You can really get a feel for their styles in their individual mix tapes
Pls keep in mind that RM and Suga Were in underground hiphop before but J hope wasnt .. he only started really rapping after joining bts..

Supreme Boi was originally a trainee with Bighit entertainment before BTS debuted when BTS was supposed to be a hiphop group but during the trainee process the CEO decided to make BTS an idol group instead so they would have to dance and what not. Supreme Boi decided that was not what he wanted to do so he left but then Bighit hired him as an in house writer and producer for the company.

I love when people react to the cyphers and talk about how J-hope was different from the other two and acknowledge his growth as a rapper. I say that, because J-Hope didn’t start in the group as a rapper, he is a dancer, and wanted to sing. To see how much he grew from the first two cyphers to this one and then just kept growing and getting better and better is a testament to his hard work. Amazing! Loved the reaction guys.

The cyphers live are super crazy especially Cypher 4. They get the whole stadium screaming the chorus “I love myself” and their swag live is crazy.
RM and Suga hit me hard with these four cyphers. I LOVE Hobi, don't worry. However, RM and Suga gives me hardcore rapper vibes while Hobi gives off happy, fun rapper. Mind you, I stan tf out of Suga mostly because he's my ult. bias. Hell, he's the reason I'm more into the hip-hop genre as a whole. So.. yeah, thanks to Sugabby, I love hi-hop.

The target of Cypher 2 is a rapper named B Free who insulted Suga and RM to their faces at an event meant to celebrate them. So they had personal beef with him in that Cypher (but J Hope wasn’t there) so you really feel RM and Suga’s emotions and the personal beef in it.
It's more that their newer stuff (particularly after the Cyphers were made) aren't specifically directed towards anyone, but Cypher 2 definitely has Suga calling out Bfree (Korean rapper from Hawaii).
For RM I would recommend Change by Wale, Monster and Throwaway from his first mixtape. Ranch Randa was one of the names RM used as an underground rapper. Love the cyphers.

Now you need to watch a live performance of the Cyphers. BTS always sound better when it's live.
you should see 'outro: tear' where jhope went off (try to find a live performance with subs bec the live is CRAZYYYY) and also the rapline's 'ugh!' for solo songs, jhope 'airplane' and 'ego' are really good & he goes OFFF on '1verse'

Suga has definitely taken direct shots at specific rappers before, especially in the early days. He said he wasn't taking direct shots at anyone specific in Daechwita. Supreme Boi was originally supposed to be part of BTS, but he opted out and stayed on at BigHit as a producer; he is listed as a co/producer on over 100 over BTS' songs and he's worked with them on their solo mix tapes as well. MOST of these color coded lyric videos are only about 60% accurate on translations.
These 3 boys have always payed respect to the old school because that is their base for all their songs.
Check them a bit more, you will not regret. This is the begineing of a wanderful jurnay. Enjoy!💜👍

You guys reallyyy need to react to “hip hop lover” by BTS, the rap line mentions all the old school legends as their inspiration. Trust me you guys are gonna be so impressed by how much they actually know ♥️
It’s good you finally reacted to Cypher. They did a live medley of all Cyphers and its was amazing coz you’ll feel their passion and energy on stage.
If you want more rap, the rapline had their own self produced solo songs which they released for their fans.
Suga always talk about his experience and we all know its not a walk in the park for them to reach their success. His The Last, First Love, what do you think and 724148 he talks about his personal ups and lows.
For rapline, you can check out Outro: Tear, Suga said he made it while they were already talking about disbanding and the members listened to it and they all cried. Their live performance is amazing too please check it out there are videos of it with english subtitles.

Idk if someone told u but Jhope he didnt know how to rap at all, while Yoongi and Namjoon were from this underground world, jhope learned rap when he joined the company and even tho he didnt know rap he still debuted as part from the rap line (sorry if some of my words dont make sense, im in my old phone and its AWFUL to type and keeps changing some words so... sorry)

I love how people with a background in hip hop appreciate Namjoon. Normally fans of Kpop (or BTS) who don't know much about rap act like Suga is the best and the other two are trash - Speed isn't everything, and if u want speed the others are fast too.
I do agree Suga has a very cool flow and technique and he can completely be someone's favorite rapper, but technically RM is superior, no hate.

Cypher part 2 was directed at a person specifically, the only song you can actually tell its about a specific person, and WHO is it. The person was extremely rude to Suga and RM, thats why they are doing most of the rapping in part 2.
Also, highly recommend more SUGA and Agust D songs since he is your bias. (First Love, Never Mind) and Agust D - The Last.

BTS CYPHER4 is an audience participation cypher. If you are in the audience and hear 60,000 people chanting I LOVE , I LOVE, I LOVE MYSELF.....well its no wonder fans often cite 4 as their favourite.
The thing is Jhope didn't even use autotune in his voice during his verses here. Jhpe and Suga can change their voice tones as much as they can with their flows. You should check out their live performances on these or some of their vlives where you can hear their natural raw voices (which has it's natural Baritone/Bass to it. even when they're just talking) Anyone can use Auto-tune but the thing about autotune is that Not everyone can sound good with/in it. People tend to over-use autotune without actually checking if they're using it properly or if it sounds good on them. and ironically some musicians over-use autotune just coz they think it makes them sound cool.... without considering if it fits their voice. I'm not a fan of Autoune tbh, but thank God It goes well with BTS's Rap-Line when they started using it During LYS:Tear era (Specifically on their song Tear. if you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend it) And the thing is that BTS used Auto-tune lately without letting their own voice get drown by it. like, they don't over-use it. which is the right way on using auto-tune. (Not unless you're actually aiming for ha metallic/robotic sound which you can often hear on techno type beats)

This came out in 2016. Glad you enjoyed it. Now you really have to check out Ddaeng (many consider it the 5th cypher) and Outro:Tear. The live performance of Outro:Tear at Wembley Stadium will show you who J-Hope is. Rips my heart out every time. J-Hope was not a rapper when he joined BTS and I think you can see the progression in his style as he goes. Other solo works that you NEED to check out if you haven't.

What I love so much about BTS is they are wordsmith's and they know their Hip Hop. I am older ARMY and they remind me of the 80's and 90's such great eras. They had a show called American Hustle Life where they came and studied Hip Hop in LA with Warren G and Coolio. (Parts are horribly CRINGY but it is amazing to see them and how much it means to them, plus the street dancing is stellar)

Jhope isn’t as aggressive as RM and Suga - but he owns the beat and has good flow. He didn’t start out as rapper like the other two. He learned it from RM and Suga while being a trainee.

You should hear them sing the cyphers live. They sung it during their earlier concerts in 2016 or 2017. It’s called cypher medley and it was wild. And the audience reaction to them was another level. Another one you should listen to is ddaeng and outro tear.💜

Generally they don't adress specific people in their diss tracks but criticism they get in general, but Sugas verse in Cypher 2 is 100% about B-Free (korean rapper from Hawaii, who dissed Suga and RM in person). Lines like "go back to Hawaii" are too specific to include anyone else.
