If you saw my Devon Shepherd's Hut tour the other month, I've love to know which you prefer out of the 2. Would you go for the quirkiness of the Devon one over the practicality of this one, or vice versa? If you've not seen the other one, then - would you stay here?

To be honest I loved both of them, although if I had to chose I'd go for the Devon one. The garden in Devon stuck in my mind - so many different sections and hidden parts to explore.

Its hilarious to hear someone try to explain things they know nothing about! 😂 A perfectly formed TV, WTF is a perfectly formed tv??

Best kind of place for a couple because you have no choice but to be close together the whole time ❤️

There's always a lot of attention to detail in the places that you stay - love the pictures, welcome sign and USB sockets. I've never seen taps before that operate by flushing the toilet - let's hope that system doesn't backfire 😄. The garden area looked wonderful once again, lots of space and very quiet too. Nice to get some privacy so you can properly enjoy the Great British Weather - or not!

Oh my goodness, I'd not even thought of what might happen if the sink toilet combo was to go wrong 🤢 Not sure if the attention to detail was a compliment to the AirBnB hosts or me filming the attention to detail they add - but the hosts make it so easy as I always find so much to get excited about and talk about.

I LOVE finding unique places to stay! I've never slept in a shepherd's hut but it certainly looks cosy.... and you've given such an indepth tour, which is so useful! Loved the half latch door, why can't all UK homes have one of those?!

If you get the opportunity to stay in a Shepherd's hut, I'd highly recommend it. I maybe wouldn't stay in one again on a big trip as it was difficult to house all of our belongings, but for a long weekend, I'd have no hesitation.

Thanks Caroline, for sharing! I love your videos they are very professional. I stayed at a good friend's ranch in Montana. He put me up in an old sheep herder's wagon, they build into a hut, 🐏🐏🐑🐑maybe a hundred year old. They would move the wagon-hut all over the ranch with the sheep. Kitchen and bathroom were outside just a bed and a place for your belongings. But very cool. Stay safe and have fun. Cheers ☕☕🧔

That sheep herder's waggon experience in Montana sounds amazing, and what a stunning state to have that experience in too! I forget about the history of these huts and what their original purpose was! Thank you again for your support!

These are to be simple experience accommodations. You are very critical in you reviews. As for small kitchens, I have watched two of your shepherds hut reviews and I could prep a very decent meal with these kitchens. Perhaps you need to investigate recipes for travelling…

Hi Greg, sorry that the tours came across as really critical, I hadn't meant for them to, but rather to try and give an honest balanced review of our time staying in each. Overall, the benefits far out weighed some of the things that made it a little more challenging, but I've still recommended both to anyone watching. You're right about the kitchen though. I think I've been spoilt a bit at home as when looking for somewhere to live, I've always been happy to sacrifice on other areas, so long as the kitchen has had plenty of storage/worktop space, so being taken out of my comfort zone, I've struggled!

@@WhenAdventureKnox Thank you replying, that is rare on youtube. As an airbnb host, business rise and falls on these type of reviews. If some sees something honestly incorrect from advertised then I agree on being called out, but even expressing something like “for me it’s…”, no one hears the the for me part. I appreciate the work and your review and specifically your reply.

First time watching this channel, and I was afraid to write something critical, but I felt exactly the same. I didn't get a nice feeling watching this, it was so much negative. Honestly people who watch videos of shepards huts know what to expect. If you just say luxury shepards hut we know it won't be like this as this is basic kitchen for self accomodation. This is a nice normal place, cute with all the necessities, in a beautiful region. Also, never understand UK saying if the weather was nicer you could do this or that, always go expecting bad weather and enjoy, if good weather comes then enjoy that. As for your questions about size and so forth if I would enjoy, well yes because I am there to relax and enjoy the country in a cute cozy space which is what a shepards hut is. I actually plan on building one. Yes, I do agree could be organized a bit better.

I have often looked at these shepherds huts for a stay. It does look quite warm and snug and despite the tight space it is a step up perhaps from putting up the tent. It does not have the space of a small cottage but when we go away we like to have a variety of stays. Your video has not dissuaded me from a stay. It would be a different and fun experience.

    • @WhenAdventureKnox

So pleased to hear it's not dissuaded you! Also I completely agree regarding the tent too as the weather was pretty miserable for our stay and can't imagine being in a tent would have been much fun!

Happy New Year too you too - hope 2022 has started well for you! 🎉 So interesting to hear different people's thoughts on the 2 of the huts. It's definitely the 'safer' option of the 2 with the unpredictable weather!

Where do the craps go? When i swish i like mine to become anonymous. Do the hosts empty a tank somewhere? I would hate that.

Good question, but this one was fully plumbed so it's just like in a house - goes down the pipes and to sewers. We stayed in another similar hut in Devon at the start of this trip and that was a composting loo so at some point the owners would have needed to empty it, but I was under the impression composting ones last ages!
